“Best new brewery in the greater Springfield area. I tried some of their beers last summer at the Springfield Oyster Fest, and they made a big impression. Located right on the town square in Petersburg, a quaint destination near New Salem State Park. Makes a nice weekend getaway from Chicago, Peoria, Bloomington, St. Louis, etc. Inside its airy and spacious, with smooth concrete floors and high ceilings strung with hanging lights. The bar had lots of cool details, reclaimed wood and rusted corrugated metal, antique barrels and metal work above the "roof" of the bar. Brewery was visible in the back hallway, various old breweriana pieces on the walls. Folksy, friendly, and welcoming crowd of locals and people travelling in for the holiday weekend. Beer selection was fairly eclectic, 6 taps running, 12 total once they maximize production. New England style IPA, Scottish Ale, French Saison, Vanilla Cream Ale, Milk Stout, and imperial Wee Heavy. The brewer was on hand, chatting with the crowd, and mentioned an imperial porter was on deck. Service was quick and friendly, stopped in twice over the weekend and service was great both times. Im used to ordering at the bar, but they offered table service as well. Growler requests were handled quickly too. No food, but bar snacks are available, as well as local food menus. Get the italian sausage pizza from Rays Escape. Overall it was a great experience, and ill be back when visiting the Springfield area. “
