| 66 /100 11 WEST STREET “Mid-afternoon on a bankholiday Sunday and the crowd followed me here as it progressively got busier. A decent array of their beers on tap/cask and a guest cider. Although I was hoping to take some packaged beers away but those were limited to core beers I'd had, other than the Somers. Young staff slightly disinterested. Customers a mix of old guys with a bitter and younger more hip looking people on the Pale Ales. Drove past without sporting the narrow alley you have to go down, although not sure there was parking. Almost then walked past - the sign in the photo up above wasn't that obvious. Once you go through to the courtyard the outside seating area is indeed larger than I expected and covered. The inside tap is not particularly big. Nice place, albeit the beers all seem to have been pm for a few months so may ran out of new ticks of you're a local.“ |
| 62 /100 11 WEST STREET “In Reigate town centre, a great little taproom featuring Pilgrim beers. They have a cosy indoor area and a rather expansive terrace outside. They have three standard nights on which they open, but they open on extra nights during the summer months and for special events. Parking close by if needed. Worth checking out their solid range.“ |
| 78 /100 Hop Stop (Reigate) (Bar) 73 BELL STREET “Visited 13/11/2019. Reigate’s new craft beer destination, 5 minutes walk out of centre of town. Very warm welcome and great service throughout our time here. 12 taps (including a couple of cask pumps) and a large fridge of bottles and cans (with a menu of each table). Modern, comfortable and fresh inside. Got quite busy, good to see early on a Wednesday evening, so it seems to have clicked with the locals. Little bit pricy but that aside it’s a great addition to Reigate’s offering.“ |
| 74 /100 11 WEST STREET “Tucked away behind some shops on West Street right opposite Four Hoos, this tap room is a new thing for Pilgrim, having opened last November, the guys running the brewery having taken over in the September from the original brewer/owner who'd brewed here since 1982. The tap room is compact, with table seating for about 15 people and room for a few more at the bar. Had 8 different beers of their own on tap, I'd had 2 before elsewhere, so the other 6 were tried by way of 2 flights of 3 x 3rds (£4.50 a flight though CAMRA discount available). Also a small selection of other brewery bottles in a single fridge. The brewery owners were very welcoming and are clearly breathing now life into this long-established brewery with new styles planned to complement the traditional range. They have plans to extend the opening hours beyond the current 3 day opening. Friendly locals, place was quite full by the time I left about 6:30 which was great to see. Worth seeking out.“ |
| 52 /100 Blue Anchor (Bar) 27 WEST STREET “Visited at 7pm on a rainy Wednesday evening in late January so never likely to be a big crowd in, but only 1 other customer had turned out when I arrived so not much atmosphere - though a few others did wander in as I drank my half! We're offering only 2 ales (from Long Man and Harvey's), 3rd pump from Pilgrim ran out yesterday they said. No longer a GBG pub and not a great surprise. That said, can't fault the friendliness of the service and it's quite an atmospheric pub with lots of old beams, maybe it's a pub which needs more support and then variety will expand. Not averse to giving it another look when next in Reigate.“ |
| 62 /100 Bell (Greene King) (Bar) 21 BELL STREET “Only pub in Reigate in the 2018 CAMRA Good Beer Guide. 6 real ales and 9 other taps. Up to 20 bottles. GK make up 3 of the taps, with other ales available from smaller brewers including Firebird, and Westerham plus Batemans and Whitstable. Previous visit I had a beer from local brewer Pilgrim in here. Comfortable interior, with settee bench seats in the front half and tables at the back. Service pretty good, music on (best of the early 80's so worked for me!). Prices ok, including on a 'drink me dry' Wednesday offer of £2.60 a pint. Worth a visit if in town.“ |
| 60 /100 Blue Anchor (Bar) 27 WEST STREET “Visited on 1st August 2017. It's a GBG entry about 10 mins walk from the railway station. It's billed as a Gastropub and there is definitely a focus on food, the venue is really smart and clean, it's a pretty big place and had no problem grabbing a table. Beer range was OK with a decent range of cask beers and a couple of macro beers on keg, nothing too exciting. Prices and service OK. Not too bad a place but not one I'd be dashing back to.“ |
