“Well stopped in on a whim. Seems as though we caught the staff by surprise. Website says they were open, but apparently they only do open house on Fridays. Anyway we were welcomed in and invited to try a few samples. Employees were very nice and talked some shop. Owner Dave came out and gave a brief history of the brewery. Was a very interesting stop to say the least.“

“I finally visited Climax after many years of enjoying their beers. They have an open house most Fridays from 5-9PM. As it turned out I picked a very good night to go. It was Dave’s birthday and he was grilling up a variety of sausages (at least 6 different ones) for the visitors. Dave gave a great tour & description of his history and his brewing process (17 yrs so far). There were 4 beers on draft available for sampling...a hefeweizen, nut brown, IPA, & a golden. I enjoyed the hefe & the IPA the best. I really enjoyed talking to Kurt and the staff member Ed. All of them will answer any beer questions you have & just have a great conversation with you. This is a no nonsense beer place in a machine shop in a little backwater corner of NJ. I highly recommend a visit!“

“This is what craft brewing is all about in my opinion. Dave Hoffmann and his father Kurt, run this tiny micro brewery on an quite street in Roselle Park, NJ in Kurt’s old machine shop. Dave is really a one man show, and he gave me a very fun, very no nonsense tour of the brewery. He brews really great, very authentic ales and lagers, and allowed me to try all the beers he had to offer, even taking some of his IPA out of the conditioning tank. Really enjoyed his hospitality, and we sampled his beers, and talked beers for an hour or so. Really great tour of a small brewery, and a good look at grass roots brewing at its very best. You can’t buy beer at the brewery because of NJ state law, but Dave will be happy to point you in the right direction to where you can find his beer on draught, and in 1/2 gallon growlers to go. Well worth a stop if you are in NJ.“
