“Mediterranean/Tapas place attached to a hotel. There is also another less formal eating place called La Taverna that does rotisserie chicken as part of the hotel.. We went on a Saturday night which was busy, and ate in the restaurant. At bit off putting at first as the atmosphere was quite raucous in La Taverna where they had been showing the afternoons Newcastle game, and they were playing hard core dance music. However, we were ushered into the restaurant which was a pleasant comfortable dining room. Busy as I said, and the staff seemed mildly frazzled, but no problem. We had a mixed tapas starter and lamb klafoutis as a main.Excellent food, particularly the lamb, served in generous portions. Both eating places feature ales from the Wylam brewery, we were on the Silver Ghost, which was well kept, and they also had Hadrian & Border Ouseburn Porter on Draught. 4 of us ate and drank well for under £100, and considered it good value given the quality. we will be back.“
