“Traditional urban pub in the town centre away from the seafront. Serves food and does well from tourists, but not the most eclectic mix of beers, although you'll have a choice of real ales.“

“Seafront corner bar with front terrace, with only the road separating it from the beach. Airy open plan venue with the bar against its side wall, it's a lovely spot to spend some time. Visited in 2015 so won't try and guess a beer selection that may have evolved since then, but nothing entirely negative at the time. I took my dogs in here too on a beautifully warm September evening.“

“Large, fancy, seaview bar on Sidmouth sea front. Ridiculous wait to be seated policy, mostly geared for diners. Just the one uninteresting beer available on pull. Not worth the effort getting in.“

“Modern style bar on the sea front with tables to the fore and inside. Cool interior, beers mostly keg, largely easy to find beers but with one or two slightly more interesting. Chirpy staff. In a town so devoid of anything worthwhile on the beer front this might be your best be, but don't hold your breath.“

“Centrally located pub with a few tables to the front. Subdued lighting inside, it has been gentrified in the last few years. Little of interest on the beer front unfortunately. My first visit back in 25 years so I was interested in seeing what had happened to it in those years, sadly nowhere near as good as it was.“

“This is a small shop that has a crack at selling a range of artisan products including a small range of locally produced beers. It's pretty much Sidmouth central, close to the indoor market hall. Prices are reasonable, range is limited, worth a look.“

“An expensive sea front restaurant, popular with locals and tourists for food. They have three hand pumps but only ever seem to use one of them. They have a number of semi interesting taps. Not a great beer destination. The kind of "beer" place you only go to once. Friendly service though, just a shame they don't give more attention to their beers.“

“They have six hand pulls (usually Butcombe beers) but only three were in use and ten macro taps. It’s an old skool boozer that hasn’t changed much in a while. It’s a community pub where the tourists don’t often find themselves as it’s a 20 minute walk from the beach. I had high hopes for this place that were not entirely realised. The Cloud WiFi didn’t work and the cask ales might have been in better condition. There really isn’t much to choose from in Sidmouth so maybe a walk up to this place to burn off some calories before you consume them isn’t a bad idea!“

“A homely, old English style pub away from the beach. Just three cask ales and 8 taps. Nothing particularly exciting beer wise but with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The food seemed to go down well here although I didn’t eat myself. Worth stopping by. There are not so many pubs to choose from in this town.“

“Two hand pulls of commonly available ales and a small selection of macro beers on tap. Nice terrace out front in the summer time but not really worthy of a place on RateBeer.“

“A seafront restaurant that sells beer. Just a couple of hand pulls and 11 taps. Nothing particularly exciting but three or four solid beers. Dogs are allowed on the terrace out front, but not in the restaurant. Great service. Not cheap, but nothing is in this part of the world.“

“A delicatessen that has a great selection of local bottled beers. By far the best selection that I found and much cheaper than many other places too. If you want locally brewed beer, this is the place to come!“

“Another place that seems to have gone downhill, there was only 1 handpull when I went there (outside tourist season). The Marine has a better choice“

“Seems to have gone downhill since the last review. I could only see Proper Job on handpull. Maybe I caught it on a bad day but I had limited time in sidmouth. try the Maritime for choice“

“The largest of the pubs in Sidmouth, and arguably the most touristy of the lot too, this is a pub in a building which is set back from the seafront, but its attractive and large front patio area extends to this point. The pedestrian street next to this pub is the main route between the sea and the shopping centre of the small coastal resort. Inside the pub there’s a few different rooms to sit in, most have been made into open plan area, with the defined dining area to the right after you enter the central doorway, although you can eat anywhere in the pub. The bar is to the left of the door set inside the pub and three hand pumps with local ales are complimented by a few keg choices that will also include some locally and regionally produced ciders. The decor is pub-like, somewhat plush in appearance, attractive and inviting.“

“Charming traditional pub with nice interieur in the pedestrian area of Sidmouth, not far from the brilliant Ship Inn. 4 real ales available, the rest is the usual stuff. 2 of the real ales are guest ales, which change on a regular basis. Didn’t try the food but the menu looks good.“
