“I can't think of a more picturesque or dramatic setting for a brewpub, in the partially restored Vurberk Castle. You can climb to the top of a permanent grandstand, built for music events, passing ramparts and bastions along the way. Climb the stairs inside the wall to get to the taproom, which has a serving bar and some bar tables, plus a cozy and eclectic room next door that doubles as an event venue. The view of the Drava valley is different at every point. Oh, and the have beer. The house beer used to brewed on a tiny 80 liter system just below the castle, but they've gone big time and now brew at Lobik. Since I visited in winter they had just one beer, a tasty malt bomb called Abuh; they brew a greater variety in summer. Their menu had some snax as well but I was too lazy to translate. A must visit for the views at least.“

“Located on top of a small hill between Ptuj and Maribor. It's within the old castle ruins. A smaller place inside, doesn't look too nice, but it's really in style of the castle ruins. Large outside area with some table on various terraces of the castle wall. A couple of taps with some more bottled ones - two house beers. Not the best of places, but definitely an interesting location especially if there's something else (a concert, a show, ...) going on outside in the castle courtyard. Worth visiting if somewhere around Maribor or Ptuj.“
