“Located on Streatham High road opposite the Common it is a place I have Visited many times over the years but unfortunately since 2022 this place is now only opening Thurs-Sun (cost saving it appears) my last visit back in March 2023. Nice looking place on entering with a central bar and a suntrap beer yard in the back, it still has some interesting South London craft beer on taps from the likes of Drop Project/Gipsy Hill/Mondo/London Beer Factory plus cans from the rest of the UK (the likes of Deya/Verdant etc) The big downside since the 2022 opening days change is no more cask. For me the best feature of this place was the cask offerings, picked up everything from new breweries to classic likes Jaipur always in great condition. If the opening hours return and cask comes back once more I am sure my rating will increase to reflect this.“

“Already a patron of the other Streatham Art & Craft bottle shop and then they go and open another one down the road, and this time even closer to the family home. This iteration is bigger, has some taps/casks like the other store, and seems to pack in allot more bottles. Has the latest London brews such as The Kernel, Brew By Numbers, Gipsy Hill, other UK selection from the likes of Cloudwater/Verdant/Magic Rock, lots of scandi stuff, some US brews, overall a very solid selection. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, prices are pretty decent. This is another welcome addition to an area that until recent years has been pretty bereft of quality beer outlets, and will definitely be back when visiting the family in Streatham.“

“Visited on 7th May 2017. Large Antic pub pretty much next door to the Spoons, it’s single roomed with interesting decor, the frontage is particularly impressive. Beer range is the best in town with a great mix of cask and keg beers. Prices and service were solid. Really liked this place and best venue in Streatham.“

“Visited on 7th May 2017. Large Spoons on the High St. Pretty standard Spoons fare, split over 2 levels, it large, the decor wasn’t too bad. Beer range had all the Craft Spoons range plus a reasonable cask range with local brewers featuring. Prices were good, service decent enough and beer quality solid. Not a bad Spoons“

“Visited on 7th May 2017. Huge pub on a busy corner just a minute or so from Streatham High St. It’s got a vast interior with areas for food, had a carvery running on a Sunday that had dragged in the punters, plus a large area for watching sport as well as a large patio out the back. Decor was smart. Beer range was OK with a local beer plus macro casks. Quality was good. Service friendly and prices good.“

“Visited on 7th May 2017. Small L shaped pub on a quiet residential corner in deepest Streatham. It’s got a nice shabby chic feel to the place and is very much a local pub. It was busy but got seated easily enough. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Good range of local cask beers, well kept and sensibly priced. Service and quality good. Liked this place.“

“Visited on 7th May 2017. Large single roomed pub across the road from Streatham Common station. It’s got a nice decor and has that gastropub chic about it. There’s plenty of room in the place but it was popular. Beer range had a good range of local cask in good nick. Prices and service decent enough. A solid venue.“

“Decent enough Green King pub for what it is, with a variety of cask and keg on offer. Had a couple of Brewdog offerings on keg on our trip, plus some cask that what new/seasonal for me and seemed to be in decent enough nick. Plenty of craft cans/bottles as well. Seems to show allot of Sport (Football on during our visit) with lots of large TV’s around the pub. Friendly enough staff and locals. Certainly not a must visit destination but will probably pop by on next visit back to see what new/seasonal casks they have on.“

“Great new bottleshop located in Streatham, easy to find located very close to Streatham Hill BR station. Is pretty small but uses the space well, a massive fridge stocked with a wide array of cans and bottles from near and far, lots of London craft, especially South London like The Kernel/Partizan/Gipsy Hill/Canopy etc. Has a couple of tables outside on the pavement in the warmer months, with just a single table inside where you can drink in. Despite being so small they also have a range of cask on stillage and some keg taps for growler refills. Friendly and knowledgeable staff (and Spud the cat) :) good prices, and we visited twice, once late on a Friday evening and then midday on a Sunday visit. Solid spot to pick up some great beers, and will be a must visit to stock up each time we are back visiting the family in Streatham.“

“The Pied Bull is now closed and now after an extensive makeover it has been reopened as "The Bull" but is still a "Youngs Pub"- This pub has now been heavily made over, the gentrification/gastropub makeover dial had been cranked up to full here. It now has the full on dining experience inside and the outside pub beer garden has been transformed with a additional fixed garden food stall serving posh burgers and such. To be fair the internal area around the bar looks pretty impressive now, mix of the original 1800s coach house of the original Pied Bull with lots of leaded glass/mirrors and skylight. Even more impressive is the change of beers. Yes there is still Youngs on cask and bottle, but there is now also The Kernel/Beavertown/Hammerton/Moncada/Five Points - Camden on tap, some different Euro pils on offer as well. Overall a welcome upgrade and worth checking out if in the area.“

“This place originally used to be a real dive back in the day. Nostalgic after school memories of playing pool here back in the late 80s and trying not to beat too easily the scary looking locals. Walking into this pub now is a complete change. Gone are the pool tables, gone is the spit and sawdust of old and in its place another creeping example of another pub transformed into a gentrified Streatham "gastropub" . Was only passing by so didn’t try the food although it looked decent. They had a good selection of casks and keg taps, nothing amazing but some St Austell, Cottage Brewing, Purity, Sambrooks etc. Only stopped for one but will visit again on next trip back to the hood for a closer look.“

“A smallish pub on the corner of a quiet residential area and a place that those not from the area will not exactly stumble across. In truth transport to this area is pretty good with both Streatham Common and more closely Streatham BR stations. Saying that it is a very "local" place and it is in this that are its strengths as it has a great community feel, but still welcoming to newcomers. Visited on a Saturday evening and Sunday late afternoon and enjoyed both visits. Very chilled out place serving good food (so we were told) and more importantly some great quality beer which we did try lots of (many local south London brewery lines such as Sambrooks, Belleville, By the horns) but also some lovely diverse bottle selections from around the world. Ambience was great with some relaxing live music, staff were knowledgeable and friendly.“

“If you have been to any JDW, then Holland Tringham will be your Standard JDW fare. Great value for the many cask ales they have on, but condition can be hit and miss sadly (as with others I have visited) “

“Update:16/08/2015: Railway is getting better and better, definitely the premier choice for Streatham. Still has the same great ever changing cask selection (never had one in bad condition) but they now have even more bottles to choose from. Also, not to be missed is the Thursday buy one get one free offer they run on the bottle list you can choose from, purchased two bottles to drink there and was given two more different bottles to either drink there or leave capped to take away. Score revised up slightly - Original review 17/08/2014 - This place used to be one of my old locals when growing up in Streatham back in the days, but this new incarnation is certainly an improvement. Now offering a great range of ales (especially focusing on local South London breweries) Cask ales we tried here were in great condition, and pricing was very good, staff friendly/knowledgeable. There is a couple of spacious rooms and also has a great patio garden (which is a nice suntrap for late afternoon drinking in the summer) Really like this place and will definitely stop by again when back visiting family. Recommended.“

“Streatham from a drinking destination/perspective has certainly changed since my days of growing up and drinking around there when I was a youngster, and Pratts and Payne certainly is a good example of this change. As a previous Catford Bridge Tavern regular I found this pub (also run by Antic) to be very similar in quality in ambience/decor/staff and most importantly beer selection. Cask and keg beers drunk over a couple of days visits went down very well. Good selection and condition. Also in regard to food, the Sunday Roast Beef dinner was excellent. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.“

“Big gastropub on Streatham High St. Usually have a good selection of guest ales (3-5) and some decent beers on tap including Moors Nor’Hop last time I was in.“

“In the heart of the very long High Street in Streatham this is a popular destination for local seasoned drinkers throughout the day. It’s open plan and split level, with the bar that offers two rows of ale pumps on the lower level towards the rear. On the upper level there is an attractive brick alcove feature on the left. The decor is soft furnishing with a lighter wood style.“

“On the hill above Streatham on the road to Brixton this is a converted pub on the corner of a busy road junction of two main arteries into and around London. There’s no shortage of buses passing by here. The buildings features are dated but it is soft furnishing throughout with wooden paneling and furniture. There’s an open fire section in the corner surrounded by bookshelves as for warmer months you can sit outside and hear the traffic up close. Ale is on two rows of pumps at the bar.“
