“Visited with Margie and Bertie on Saturday 13th April 2024, last port of call. It was full of females finishing 'Bottomless brunches' and it was very noisy, must have been four or five different groups of them all pissed as farts! Just one hand-pull on during our visit, fun place, but not really a beer destination.“

“Visited with Margie and Bertie on Saturday 13th April 2024 (been before, a few years ago). Nice friendly place and very busy at 16:00. It's a Real Ale place. Stairs to the toilets are dangerous.“

“Visited with Margie and Bertie on 13th April 2024, two rooms, bar in the right hand side one, nothing in the other, all a bit 'sparse' really. Three hand-pulls, two of which were new to me. Friendly enough and fairly busy (15:30 Saturday afternoon).“

“Visited with Margie and Bertie on 13th April 2024. They were having a Beer Festival, five hand-pulls and seven gravity pours straight from the barrel. Eight bands/artists in the beer garden where we sat. Main bar is in the back room, two small drinking areas with two more rooms upstairs and the large, long garden. Six new rates for me before moving on.“

“CAMRA Pub of the Year, 2022 and 2203, visited with Margie and Bertie on 13th April 2024. Nice friendly place with plenty of cask ales and Belgian draught options. Busy as both Dudley and Telford CAMRA branches had bus trips to Tamworth the day we were there. Nice vibe to the joint.“

“Visited with Margie and Bertie on Saturday afternoon, 13th April 2024. Packed inside, so we used the beer garden, as it was sunny for a change! 5 Cask lines, all Joules. Friendly enough, front bar is for drinking, back bar full of eaters.“

“My final pub on my tour of Tamworth, it is probably the closest pub to the Railway Station. It is a small, single roomed micro pub where you order from the board and the beers are fetched from the racking through the back, which you can see on a screen. It's popular, despite the 3pm Friday opening. It's predominantly a cider pub, unusual for the area, but there are 4 beers in cask to be tried. It's a little hushed in here but friendly enough, you sit round the edge given the lack of space. Well worth visiting.“

“On the way down to the entrance to Tamworth Castle and Gardens, this is an imposing building which was the Trustee Savings Bank. Multi roomed with the bar through to the back room. It feels a little cramped inside but it is friendly and convivial. There are 5 hand pulls with beers from around the UK, the keg taps are from macro brands. Well worth seeking out, it doesn't really look like a pub from the outside.“

“The Tamworth Brewery and Tap are on the main street through town close to the Market building. The Brewery is the shop to the left whilst you enter the right hand unit and straight into the bar area. It is the current CAMRA National Pub of the year and it seems to me well deserved. There is a screen with the beer range listed, they only had one of their own available on my visit, rather disappointingly. It is multi roomed with further seating upstairs and a CAMRA corner before the outdoor seating area, they give Camra discount too. The beer range is well chosen and interesting, it's friendly and chatty with very good, attentive service. It's a superb place to visit and I'm glad I made the effort.“

“A little out from the main centre of town, opposite a big car-park this is an old tavern with a single room split with a screen, where the stairs go up to the toilet, there is a garden area too. The bar is on the left with 5 hand pulls, 5 keg and a fridge of Belgian beers. Friendly and inclusive, very chatty, popular with locals despite the later opening. Well worth a visit.“

“Walked past this twice trying to find it, it looks like a club from the outside, it is a big, imposing building which once housed the Sheriff of Tamworth, hence the name. Inside there are 2 surprisingly small rooms either side of the entrance, the bar is to the right. It has a Belgian Cafe vibe about it with Belgian beers on tap and fridges full of bottled beers. There are 3 cask hand-pulls with beers from far afield and some UK beers amongst the Belgians on tap. Not sure that the good people of Tamworth have found this one yet, very quiet on my visit. Well worth a look though.“

“This is a beautifully refurbished traditional old town pub close to the Market building in the centre of Tamworth. Magnificent wood, glass and tiles adorn the pub with old advertising signs adding interest. The hand-pumps were all delivering Joules beers on my visit, no guests. The service was attentive and friendly, the pub was a little quiet though. Multi roomed with a garden area to the rear. Well worth a look.“

“This is a large pub in the centre of Tamworth, garishly dressed up for the forthcoming Royalist unelected and expensive shenanigans. It's an older building but thoroughly modernised inside in the Stonegate manner. It is quieter than the Spoons round the corner but with similar prices and offerings, so I'm not sure why, but is a more comfortable experience. 7 Hand pumps in operation, the vast majority with national brands, but there was one interesting guest beer. Not the most interesting of pubs but it does open early so useful while waiting for the 12 o-clock openings.“

“This is a fairly standard Wetherspoons a little off the main centre of town but only a couple of minutes walk, 10 minutes from the Railway Station. It is actually a well staffed Spoons, pretty friendly, attentive service, clean and tidy. Long and narrow, I never got through to the back but there looks to be some outdoor seating. The bar is on the left on entry, 4 local beers on hand-pull and one from further afield. I have never seen so many gaming machines in a Wetherspoons and all being used, I thought I was in a bookies for a while.“

“Distinctly a Wetherspoons. Offerings vary depending on promotions usually from Theakston or Sharp’s etc. Tried to enjoy a couple of drinks and food here after a narrow boat day out but the lack of atmosphere meant we quickly abandoned those plans once the cheap food was devoured in favour of one of the other venues in town.“

“Visited a few times since opening and the place has changed. Converted shop in the town centre. Brewkit on the left as you walk in, then the bar and a nice cosy area for seating. The decor is really smart and well thought out. There's room upstairs as well plus a gin parlour, seating area out front and a patio out the back (you have to walk around the front to get there). 6 handpulls on the bar and a small range of bottles. Service is super friendly, prices good. Best place in town. Their own beer is decent stuff plus interesting guests. Must visit if in town. No food, although snacks on offer“

“Facing into the mainly pedestrianised Colehill part of the commercial centre, where the main chain shops have finished, it’s quite an airy and open part of the town centre. The pub is traditional with a central doorway, regular pub seating throughout and a bar against the wall towards the rear on the left. Here there’s a number of real ales in two separate places along the service area. It’s all open plan, dogs are allowed, and seats are pub out front for good weather drinking.“

“Traditional pub on the west side of town facing into the pedestrian Market Street. It’s twin roomed and split level in the larger rear lounge. The bar serves both the front and back areas and has a choice of several real ales, with just the one from the Joules Brewery available on my visit. Food is served and there’s a long garden area at the back which feels a million miles away from the commercial area out front.“

“On the very north side of the town centre proper, where small businesses are mainly located, this is a micropub in one of the quaint shop units facing the road just before the traffic lights. The tiny tables and chairs are squeezed into the main front room, along with a very short bar in one corner. This is mainly symbolic as all the drinks are poured in the back room, with cider being the dominant liquor in here, although the several real ales to choose from were also worthwhile.“

“Since I moved to Tamworth, this place has gone from strength to strength. A great range of UK beers from all walks of life, Bathams to Beavertown which changes constantly and an increasingly improving selection of world beers with a great influx from Belgium recently. Gurdeep and his staff are great and really helpful, always on hand to chat about the beer. The place fills a huge gap in the market for the area.“

“Good selection of craft beers including English, American,Belgian and a few from New Zealand. Was surprised to a bottle from Trinidad in the chillier. Something for everyone and some of the higher strength beers are very competitively priced. Don’t know how quickly their stock turn over so will give it several months before visiting again. A bit of the beaten track but really worth a visit.“

“Visited on a Sunday afternoon post Beer Festival. It’s a small shop conversion with two levels. 4 handpulls and 14 ciders on tap. Beer was excellent, you even get a webcam of the server getting your beer from gravity. All beer less than £3 a pint on this visit. Only noise was the folk talking and they were a friendly bunch. If you’re in Tamworth then do visit as it’s a great addition to the scene.“

“Situated less than 10 mins from the station a nice pub with lowish ceilings and a single room. Beer in good nick with a 30p discount for CAMRA members. Guest beers from localish breweries and always has an Oakham beer on. Nice pub. Good service, just beware the steep stairs to the toilet!“

“Hadn’t been here for a while and has changed a lot since I’d last visited. Situated around 10-15 mins from station and a short walk from the Castle this is a traditional old town pub. Has 6 beers on, 2 from Joules and 4 guests. All the beer in good condition. The pub has a great beer garden which we spent the evening in. A great addition to Tamworth’s ale scene and worth a look.“

“By far the best pub in Tamworth. I moved to the town a year ago and I’ve popped in several times - most recently it was pleasing to see four cask ales, including a blond house ale (Apeeling) which was dry, hoppy and delicious, one from Cornwall (I forget the brewery) and two others. Service is friendly. Decor is traditional - clearly a building with some history. Probably best visited away from a Friday/Saturday night as it’s within 50 yards of both Yates’s and the local nightclub.“

“Wetherspoon at the foot of the small town centre. It occupies a corner building with its own secluded patio at the rear. Inside the decor and layout are familiar for this chain, and it is familiarly busy throughout the day. The taxis for Tamworth line up on this street so it is very useful for a quick getaway. Ale is on a selection of pumps on two rows. A comfortable place to drink.“

“Having recently moved to Tamworth I’ve been searching for a decent offie. This is probably the best one in the area, notable for having the relatively hard to find Bathams as well as several by Sadlers - again including the less common Mellow Yellow. Apart from that, the ales are from the usual suspects (Wychwood, Badger, Marston’s, etc) plus a selection of lagers which again are fairly common. There are a few world lagers, such as Keo. The place seems to specialise in wines but it’s a smart shop, with decent value and friendly service. There’s a real gap in the market for a place like this to take on an even wider range here in Tamworth, but this will do for now.“
