“A wonderful home for all of greek craft beer. It's wonderful to find such a celebration of the brewery's that make up greece. There are craft beer bars and then there are craft beer homes that celebrate and uplift the industry. The dedicated and friendly team behind augustos are here to raise the tide for all of greeces beer scene.“

“Visited twice with almost a week in-between. Got served by the owner George on the second visit. The Hoppy Pub was a legendary bar in the early beer geek days. I was not disappointed in the least. George tries to offer quality craft beer at affordable prices no longer searching every ridiculous hype these days. There are already enough bars just buying anything pricey that gets a high Untappd score. Tap has a good selection covering many styles from a fun Greek kettle sour, interesting 15 % Greek RIS, Ayinger Kellerbier, local IPA, Amager IPA, Schenkerla etc. Prices are fair, service on first visit was good, service by George was beyond, got several free beers on top. George is ridiculously knowledgeable about the beer scene, familiar with breweries in Belgium that you would not expect anyone in Greece to know about – they even had Dok on tap here. By very far the best bar in town and in surroundings. One beer from an Athense microbrewery which they had just gotten did have heavy dyacetyl but on the other hand Dunkel from same brewery was in amazing shape and got it for free, every other tap and tried about 10 was excellent, Septem 8th Day IPA was in by far best shape I have had anywhere else. Snacks were popcorn and salt sticks. Peak place, lots of Amager in fridge and some local cans etc. Snacks available.“

“Close to the Agia Sophia, lively bar & very red inside light and decoration, music, lots of younger people. Visited later at night on a workday. Nice service, got a glass of water with ice cubes (nice) and popcorn. Handful of taps, Punk IPA and macros, got a large Alfa. Place promises 200 beers but they’re all just stuff like Chouffe, Leffe, Newcastle etc. Looked fun enough but no interest in this place beer-wise really. They also do lots of cocktails, liquor, liquor selection looked same as beer selection, plenty of things but nothing of interest.“

“Small bar in / very near to lively nightlife section of town. Limited opening hours and it was closed when I tried for a second visit. One tap available – Ali Pilsner – owner has good contact with the brewery and the condition of that beer was excellent. 3 fridges of beer with fun cans and bottles to pick from, owner was happy go give explanation, got some style descriptions wrong but that may have been a language barrier. Great chat with the owner, music was metal and whilst talking about Iron Maiden – I mentioned the Russian Iron Mainden-like band Aria which he put on the bar. Lovely person and service. He had beers like the new Strange Brew /Hop Hooligans collaboration.“

“Large beautiful terrace on which I sat. This is the kind of bar that has many things which should make it great and it is largely a good bar but also has minor things which disappoint. For starters menu was a bit of mess, I picked a beer of the board indicating can / bottle selection but that board was no longer valid for anything. I scanned the QR code / website and first beer on list was also out and one of the beers had the wrong brewery name listed, menu said Seven Island instead of Sori. They had some hype beers on tap mixed with some lagers etc. in a non-logical order. All taps seemed to be not the best that breweries offered like had a quite lackluster Kykao IPA. Service was on the slow end. Interesting taps but also bit of a lottery and could use a bit more attention for the product.“

“Large bar, friendly service, popcorn snack, spacious almost vaguely British looking, music at solid volume but I picked to sit inside. Solid music installation too. Taps were all macro except for one Septem tap which seemed to be quite recent. One common craft beer available and meh atmosphere at time of visit.“

“What a really strange place, the skull logo on the outside, black walls and metal-esque murals that seemed to be brainstormed by a 14 year old’s idea of a cool metal bar. I also got served in French – I have absolutely no idea as to why? Friendly service tough, almost all taps and they had a lot were macro rubbish, lager largely but also about 5 taps from Sknipa, surprisingly large selection, Sknipa taps were quite pricy but their beers seemed expensive elsewhere as well. Some interesting cans and bottles in the fridge but also things like Hobgoblin. Large televisions, bar in the middle of the room so you can sit on all sides, black, dark green, dark brown interior. Just weird, couldn’t make heads or tails of it. Music wasn’t metal either more like some vague rock I didn’t know, very odd.“

“Service was really friendly and as such I feel bad about rating this lovely. 3 beers available upon visit, interior looked quite like a mess, oddly painted, fermenters and “ironic” communist memorabilia. Very centrally located, very cheap prices 2.50 euro for my large lager pour, 3.50 for the IPA and Stout. The problem here is the beer was really awful, totally infected, huge unpleasant dishwasher soap taste, rancid, if this guy run a restaurant he would be in prison. The chips were also strangely soggy, friendly service ‘tough.“

“Deep large modern looking bar, felt bit too large and slightly posh. Two waitresses present which seemed a bit much so they had to awkwardly stand for most of the time. I got a whole bottle of water instead of glass, nice. Prices were reasonable. I had a weirdly cheap Bevog beer – cheaper than at the brewery. Waitresses didn’t seem to be familiar with the beer, tried also an okay priced Greek RIS. Some interesting Greek beers and rather surprising international selection with beers like Pinta and Siren. Needs to be a bit more full to be a bit more comfy probably. Definitely some good beers to be found but felt like the place needed bit more of an identity than this odd posh restaurant vibe.“

“Lovely terrace right next to the Turkish consultancy / Atatürk birth house. Had one meh beer on tap, some interesting Greek bottles. Coffee house part of the place looked more interesting than beer part looking at what people were ordering. Thought about coming back to get coffee but didn’t happen unfortunately. My snack was nuts tough and not potato wedges.“

“Friendly service, empty save for a tourist couple but a large local group swung by and got some beers and left immediately. 4 taps but only 3 were on from local breweries Ali and Sknipa. Decent prices and a small but nice selection of cans and bottles. Nothing crazy but some good beers available. Sport memorabilia also and a tv on which they sometimes but not always show sports on.“

“West side of the city. Large lovely comfy terrace with some pillows, interior looked nice as well. Largely empty when I was there. Some interesting beers on tap with about 5 taps. Impressive bottle list including likes of Del Borgo, Kyakao, Dogma etc. Few beers I haven’t seen elsewhere. Impressive selection but prices were higher than elsewhere on anything. Kyako some beers were 28 euro. I ordered a vintage Kyako and owner swirled bottle before pouring it all out, who does that? They had an 28 euro – 2019 Vintage Cantillon Geuze, imagine ordering that and the bro swirling it. Some interesting looking BBQ food available. So some very interesting and nice beers available for sure but prices were a bit too high. Snakc was Dorito style chips with sweet chili sauce, nice.“

“Visited on a Sunday evening, music happening at the bar next door, loads of people, lively, fountain looked nice. Great terrace really. Staff was singing along to some songs. Beer selection didn’t disappoint, tap was about 5 taps of Primator and 2 BrewDog, there should have been also a Bevog tap but they were out. They had the likes of Solo from Greece on the menu, some nice Czech beers. Okay prices. Salt sticks for snack. Fun enough place.“

“Located down the street from the U Fleků Garden – I got actually served by the same waitress as at the Garden. She went why are you here – this is the exact same bar? I went like if you own two bars, I will be curious what the other one is like. She couldn’t stop laughing, it was hilarious and surreal. Selection was the same down to them having the same taps not available. No terrace here more of a fake dive bar feel with some weird rock music, reminded me a bit of Delirium, Garden was definitely better sitting.“

“Located in a lively district, other costumers were tourists. Felt vaguely expat / British, friendly service, dark wood bar. Taps weren’t too interesting with some larger brand macro on etc. Some interesting bottles, got a Greek BIPA and there were some hyped Greek cans. Not a crazy big menu but some nice things. Bruschetta toast snack, prices did feel slightly elevated compared to some other places.“

“Posh place, terrace looks very lovely, servers in uniform / white shirt and everything. Lovely setting, looks like a pricy cocktail bar, also a grill place. They have 40 taps tucked away somewhere. Almost all of them were macro fare like Stella and Carlsberg. Tow taps from Chios, one Schenkerla tap and suggestion of rotating tap were all that was interesting. I got a Chios Blond Ale, to avoid confusion I pointed at the menu, got charged for an IPA and I doubt I got the IPA. Not worth the 0.50 euro discussion. Stranger, I tried ordering a second beer and got into a discussion that I didn’t fully understand. I had to pay and wasn’t served anymore. Language barrier is understandable but it was a very don’t negotiate situation until I got tired, paid and didn’t care about ordering again“

“Liquor store near the Rotunda. Impressive selection of 2 fridges of bottles of Greek micros plus two more shelves. Basically all the hype Greek IPA releases are here chilled at fair prices. Very helpful service with advice. They did try to stair me away from some beers, fair in some cases but I felt bit pushy because I did specially want a certain beer that they were advising against it and needed to slightly justify it. They had like 30 different Kykao beers including all the different BA ones. Best place in town to pick up anything hyped or more limited really.“

“Small bar, with nice interior, only a little too dark for my own taste. Place is plastered with beer memorabilia and signs of inclusion in the European craft beer world. Great service and very kind and talkative owner, appreciated the chat with him. Selection is good, with a good amount of craft beers on tap, several being Greek. Prices were OK. Overall, a place to return to. Didn't have much time, but hope to be back more comfortably next time around.“

“Small bar with tables outside as well. Inside it's pretty dark, difficult to tell the colour of your beer. Service is OK, but again with the minus of imposing 50cl size glasses on tap for most beers. Selection is scarce on tap, but with good availability of bottles. Overall, OK, but I wouldn't bet on this one for a good beer tasting experience.“

“Small bar near various restaurants. Some tables available, just one tap, and four fridges of bottles and cans, with a very nice selection of domestic and international craft beers. Very kind owner, had a great talk with him. Overall, a nice place to go if you don't mind the lack of draft beer.“

“Located in a bar and restaurant area, the bar is owned by the local distributor of brands like Brewdog and Primator. On tap, mostly these two brands and just a few others. Prices are good for the larger quantities poured. But the imposition of ordering glasses at the only size of 50cl makes beer tasting very challenging. Moreover, I lacked diversity and openness in their tap choices. More beers available in bottle/can. Overall, OK but not great.“

“Very old school bar in terms of internals: wood, lots of spirits, warm lights. Many taps (their menu lists 28 beers on tap, though some are not available), but almost all are standards. Boring place from this viewpoint. Had to pick a lager made for them somewhere, but the bartender only knew it was made somewhere in Creete :( Incompetence riding high... The fact that for many beers the only grass size was 50cl made everything now difficult from a beer tasting perspective. I would not suggest this bar at all to a craft beer enthusiast.“

“Visited with rouhlas, cheers sir! George and his staff make this place extra special. The focus is purely beer, although other things are available, including very tasty bar snacks. Taplist is well chosen, bottle list is amazing. A true neighborhood and global gathering place.“

“Mit Abstand die beste Craftbeer Bar die ich in Griechenland besucht habe. 18 top taps. Griechische Micros, dänische u d belgische Spitzenprodukte, zB von Cantillon. Dazu ein riesiges spannendes Angebot an Flaschen. Sehr netter Barstuff. Absolutes Pflichtprogramm in Thessaloniki!“

“This is the perfect place for someone who seeks a different taste in beer. The store is found in the heart of the city center and it’s very easy to reach it. There is a great variety of beers local and imported, in normal prices. The owner is a very friendly person with extended knowledges, willing to provide every available information concerning the beer. As client for about two years now, I’m very satisfied.“

“For July 2019 the best place in Thessaloniki for beergeeks. Very good selection on taps - different countries and styles (Scotland, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, Belgium) and, of course, local craft beer. There are tasting sets (flights) 3 beers on 7.5 euros or 6 beers for 15 euros. Great selection of bottled beer. Excellent staff. Definitely worth a visit.“
