68 /100 ’T Centrum (Bar) GROTE MARKT 33 Visited September 2022,
A localización é inmellorable.

70 /100 Flandria (Bar) GROTE MARKT 30 We visited here Sunday 3rd October 2021, on the third day of our trip back to the UK. This café much like 't Centrum and Café Christophe which we also visited earlier in the evening is located on the attractive main square. It was getting a little late now and after a short walk looking for another place in the Belgian Good Beer Guide we gave up and decided on here instead. Naturally being late, quite chilly now, we headed straight inside. I never even noted whether there was outdoor seating however suspect that there would be as all the others do.
It was a little bit more modern looking in here, the three staff we saw were also younger, however the clientele was still quite mixed. Most folk were just drinking, I suspect because it was close to the end of the evening. The layout was similar to the previous bar (Christophe) the bar was on the left hand side, a little bit of seating in front but then most was opposite running parallel against the wall. The girl serving us was fastidious about cleaning and getting the table symmetry correct when tidying up those that had been recently vacated.
The beer choice was good but not amazing, but I still found a beer that I had not had called 'Pauline' with relative ease. We liked this place it had a pleasant vibe, the young staff seemed keen and enthusiastic. Admittedly it was not my favourite here in Veurne but it was still well worth a visit and we're glad that we did, it would be interesting to revisit during the day. |
84 /100 Brasserie Christophe (Restaurant) GROTE MARKT 24 We visited here Sunday 3rd October 2021, on the third day of our trip back to the UK. This café much like 't Centrum and Flandria which we also visited is located on the attractive main square. Despite the weakening autumnal sun doing it's best to warm the Grote Markt we decided it was just a little bit too chilly so sat inside.
Inside it was quite an attractive and perhaps more plush café than some others on the square. On entering there is a bar on the left and plenty of seating throughout this long rectangular shaped bar. Most folk were eating, a lovely elderly couple of ladies next to us appeared to be having a great chat, switching between Flemish and French whilst enjoying a Tripel Karmeliet. Loz also went for a Tripel Karmeliet, I had Petrus Red.
We ordered Mussels and Frites, we both had gone for different versions, i.e. cooking liquid. The mussels were expensive, €27 and €28 respectively for our two but oh my was it good, seriously good and absolutely huge portions, in fact neither of us could finish our meal. It was possibly the best Mussels and Frites we'd ever had so we afterwards we didn't baulk at the price when paying.
We liked this place a lot, we had a small table by the window, so a great spot for people watching on the square. Would definitely recommend, ok the beer list is far from exhaustive but I think that it's the whole package that you come here for. |
80 /100 ’T Centrum (Bar) GROTE MARKT 33 We visited here Sunday 3rd October 2021, on the third day of our trip back to the UK. This café is located on the attractive main square and is sandwiched between a couple of other cafés. The weather was just about good enough to sit outside and there were a number of tables here, but the slight chill in the air meant that It was actually quite busy inside.
Inside it had a slightly old school Belgian Café vibe, with the 2-3 staff (3 I think?) working tirelessly serving a mostly older clientele. The layout is of a long rectangular shape, their isn't really a bar as such with spirits and beer taps etc, it's just a small area at the back where staff pass on food and drink to a colleague.
The beer choice was pretty decent, we wwre able to easily select a couple of beers we'd never had before which is pretty impressive. Service was quick and, staff attentive but as mentioned busy. The eyes of the café seemed glued to the TV screen and the Paris-Roubaix cycle race which I must say that even for someone like me who is non-plussed about the sport it was absolutely captivating. The conditions of the race were or at least had been very wet leading to very wet, muddy riders and lots of thrills and spills. We stayed for another and grew to really like this place, it had a warm, gentle vibe and certainly was an important meeting place for folk by the looks of things. |
64 /100 ’t Hof van de Hemel (Restaurant) NOORDSTRAAT 13 zomer 2020 langs geweest. Tof interieur en terras.
Onze ervaring kon beter: duur ivm andere locaties.
Aanbod toch vrij op veilig gespeeld (de bekende bieren op de kaart)
eten is lekker maar geen topzaak.
Ook de bediening kon naar ons gevoel beter. |
94.2857142857 /100 ’t Hof van de Hemel (Restaurant) NOORDSTRAAT 13 Excellent beer house & restaurant and very much what Veurne has needed since the Flandria was ruined. Good choice of beers, good food and very welcoming. Highly recommended. |
74 /100 De Kaashoeve (Grocery Store) ZUIDSTRAAT 37 bestelling via internet gemaakt, zeer keurig af gehandeld, iets prijziger dan ergens anders maar specialekes mogen dan weer wat duurder zijn

88 /100 ’t Hof van de Hemel (Restaurant) NOORDSTRAAT 13 Nice place the owner was very nice and helpful we really enjoyed eating - and having a few beers here. |
100 /100 ’t Hof van de Hemel (Restaurant) NOORDSTRAAT 13 Selection of more than 100 beers .Mainly trappist and local beers. Home made dishes prepared with beer. Restaurant dates from the 15 century. Lounge terras. super friendly staff. NR1 on tripadvisor.Best beer restaurant in belgium. |
62 /100 De Kaashoeve (Grocery Store) ZUIDSTRAAT 37 i visited it when a whas on weekend with the parents in-laws a shop with cheese and vegetables and a small selection of beers but a lot of beers from veurne and lots of struisse so that is certainly interesting the prices were pricey but the service was good if you're in the area certainly is going along

82 /100 ’t Hof van de Hemel (Restaurant) NOORDSTRAAT 13 Cosy tearoom/bar/restaurant in the center of Veurne. Very interesting beer list with lots of beers from Struise, Dolle, De Molen. Even newer breweries like Siphon are available. Also a lot of lambics and of course local beers like Popolou, Brouwerij Verstraete, De Plukker, Deca,... Prices are ok for some beers but rather high or very high for special ones, like 49,5 for Chimay Oak Aged... Service is ok. Didn’t try the food. |
78 /100 De Kaashoeve (Grocery Store) ZUIDSTRAAT 37 Small shop in the beautiful town of Veurne. They have local specialties, including good Struise and Dolle beers and a really nice selection of lambics, including some more rare stuff. Friendly owners, good service. Prices can be a little high, but are more than reasonable for the quality that you are buying. Recommended when in the neighbourhoud. |
46 /100 Flandria (Bar) GROTE MARKT 30 Has recently been modernised and completely ruined .Now looks like any other café and completely devoid of character. No longer worth visiting, and I used to love this place. First T’Park and now this.Veurne no longer has a decent beer cafe. |
38 /100 De Botermand (Bar) GROTE MARKT 7 According to locals the best in town . Makes me fearfull .
Lack of ability to pour a beer .
No knowledge
Rather unfriendly . Prices are nice .
Selection is mostly common beers . Few things are alright though . Ok place , but not for beer . |
34 /100 ’T Park (Bar) ZWARTE NONNENSTRAAT 15
UPDATE 30/11/13
This former gem has been modernised and completely ruined in the process
Now has nothing to recommend it - just an ordinary cafe with a dull beer menu. What a shame. |
84 /100 Flandria (Bar) GROTE MARKT 30 Some things in life should never change and the Flandria, hopefully will be one of them. Excellent cafe in the main square. Good menu, prompt service and a good selection of beers. A good stopping off point either going into Belgium or on the way home. |
70 /100 Brasserie Christophe (Restaurant) GROTE MARKT 24 Excellent food. Reasonable range of ales with an emphasis on Bavik products including the Oud Bruin and Aged Pale. Only let down by the annoying TV |
70 /100 Biechthuis (Bar) SINT WALBURGASTRAAT 1 Monastically themed pub with a good selection of Trappists and Bavik products including the Dubbel on draught. Beware that this is a smoking pub. |
90 /100 De Kaashoeve (Grocery Store) ZUIDSTRAAT 37 Great little cheese & beer shop. Smallish selection, but very well chosen with some very hard-to-find stuff. Lots from Struise and a good selection of lambics (some very rare). Prices can be on the high side for the more unusual beers. |
74 /100 De Kaashoeve (Grocery Store) ZUIDSTRAAT 37 We visited here today Sunday 29th April 2012, popped in for a bottle of water on our way back to the Eurotunnel and was quite shocked at the beer range which appeared to have just about every decent Struise beer, inc: Kabert, Black Albert, Pannepot (versions) Catso, etc, etc.. with a couple including Catso and a single hop that I’d never had before. The rest of the selection was not to be sniffed at either with a few others that were new to me. I was very impressed with such a cracking selection, prices were very decent as well and the lady who served, very helpful and smiley. |
66 /100 Flandria (Bar) GROTE MARKT 30 Used to often visit this place when we (a group from Southampton) were on our way from Calais to Brugge. Nice selection of beers, friendly service and a welcome pit stop! |
67.1428571429 /100 ’T Centrum (Bar) GROTE MARKT 33 The sort of cafe found on every Belgian Grote Markt. Modern, unattractive interior.Pretty good beer list which, since the demise of The Flandria, is the best on the square. Worth a look if passing. |
64 /100 Flandria (Bar) GROTE MARKT 30 Taverne Flandria is one of several cafés in a lovely old square in the centre of Veurne – a nice place to while away an hour or so watching the world go by if you’re travelling along the motorway to Calais on the way back from Belgium and want to break the journey. Flandria is the café with a glassed in veranda at the front and a green and white striped awning. It’s a family-run place and inside it’s decorated in a slightly fussy country cottage style with a beamed ceiling, tiled floor, electric candles, brown leather banquettes, carved wooden chairs with rush seats and a few prints of Veurne in the wall panels.
There are six taps and 85 bottles including Boeteling, which is billed as a speciality of Veurne. The beer of the month (on tap) in June was Queue de Charrue Tripel Blond 9 degrees.
They serve cheese and nibbles with the beer and also have snacks such as spaghetti bolognaise, croques, omelettes, apple tart and ices.
