70 /100 24 FRONT ST. Visited on 26th February 2017. Thanks to Nick for the lift out and back from Stanhope to rate this place. Lovely old traditional village/country pub, lots of nooks and crannies to sit in, carvery on the go on a busy Sunday for the pub. 5 beers of their own on handpull (including a nitro version of Stout). Prices were acceptable, beer quality was fine and quick service as very much a splash and dash. Would return and sample the fayre |
66 /100 24 FRONT ST. Visited 25th Jan. 5 beers on all own. Medium sized room. Good setting. Only 1 table of people eating yet they were fully booked? Beer average. |
74 /100 24 FRONT ST. Cosy country pub which dates back to the 19th century and houses the Weard’ale brewery in the cellar. Traditional interior, with central bar which has 5 handpulls serving Weard’ale beers. Seating areas to front and side of the bar, and through to a separate dining room and onto an outside patio area. Had the Sunday Carvery having booked a table and the food was good. Popular pub with visitors and locals. |
