“Dive bar that's been around since 1919. It looks like it changed over the years, but just added things without getting rid of the old. But, I'd hang out here if I lived close. A little bit of everything. A decent tap lost if mostly local beers.“

“Located in old ranch style house. Not sure why they think that love music in a small room is necessary, but it's packed in here anyways. They have tables outside with some games. The beer is very good. Fast and friendly service. It's a good stop overall.“

“A modest looking building on a side street there is a lot more here than meets the eye. On a beautiful fall day in mid-October my wife and I visited here being not sure what to expect. After a couple false starts finding the front door we entered into a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere with tall tables with bar stools and a wraparound bar with more bar stools. There were two regular tables with seating for two back in a corner and we scored one of those. I ordered tacos for both my wife and I (chicken for her and pork for me). We added beans a rice and a salad. They were delicious. I asked if they did flights and they did so I got all ten of the beers (4 oz tasters) chalked on the board so I was well within the 48 oz Montana limit. They were remarkably good. Outside at picnic tables another dozen people with their dogs were enjoying the beautiful weather and far better than average beets. This place is a hidden gem.“

“Literally a little wooden one-room joint by the roadside on your way up the mountain. You don’t come here for the beer, you come here for the BBQ which is outstanding. Nothing on tap when I was there last month, but at least 18 or so craft selections in bottles, which is fine by me. But really, as I said, this is all about the BBQ.“

“Lol @ TimE for adding this place! I’ll rate it for the tick, and for the fact that I’ve spent a good number of hours at each. "Cozy" is an apt description for sure-- it’s always hard to leave! The food is surprisingly very good too, and there is always a few good choices on tap.“

“Located beside the Great Northern Brewery, this place offers a taproom up front and a resto-pub in the back. Very quiet when I was there, but it was early. Only about a half dozen beers on tap, so there are better options in town for the beer nerd/ticker.“

“Well, what can I say that hasn’t already been said previously? This is a great local bar with a comfortable, lived-in feel, lots of craft on tap (I’d say at around 20?), pool tables, music, loads of space. Just fun and friendly.“

“Lively bar towards the end of Central Ave. Split room building, with a bar on the right, dining room and large outdoor patio to the left & back. Small but decent enough selection of National & local craft ales, enough to keep you happy for a few hours, pricing is good. Food is very good, and good value. Burger is juicy and cooked to your liking. Friendly chatty staff. A nice enough bar to visit when in Whitefish.“

“This place is a must in Whitefish. Where else can you see children through to 90 year olds in the same place? Drafts are served in pint canning jars (A Montana institution). Some of the drafts are stale so try a few then latch onto a fresh one. Craft drafts $3.25, $2.75 happy hour, and $4 with live band (also $3 cover charge). The food is pretty good and cheap. While sitting at the bar the other day, with my canning jar, I noticed the 4 guys to my left all had an opened can of PBR in front of them. Anywhere else that’d be depressing as hell.“

“This place is worth a visit for craft beer on tap. I got Carter’s Derailed IPA here last year. Update: Only 4 taps and 2 are macro. Not even an IPA (Ninkasi Oatmeal Stout was there). Very disappointed this year.“

“OK, so I am adding this because these two places across the parking lots (30 sec walk) from each other at Whitefish ski hill together are worth going to, even if you are not skiing. Both have 5-8 micros on tap with rotating seasonals and a focus on Montana brews. Bierstube has a really cool wooden interior that is super cozy and cool. Ed’s is more of a family place, but is still nice. Ed’s is a bit pricier, but whatever. I would say if you are looking for a place with lots of local brews and dont want the rowdiness of downtown, hitting these places is a good alternative.“

“Average place. Widest selection in town, but dont expect too many gems. Still worth stopping over and then further down the street towards the mountain is Alpine Market (0.5 mile?) has a smaller selection, but had more gems. Between the two places you will cover Montana pretty well. Friendly staff at both places, but both are just supermarkets.“

“A big sprawling place, and very popular with the locals. Big long bar with seating as you walk in, long bench on the back wall, with another long table further into the room, Plenty of room to stand and enjoy a beer. Games room with bar service and 3 pool tables, tennis table, stage and a large patio (with bar). 18 taps on offer, which are split between micro/local and the usual macro stuff. During my visit the micro on offer was Sierra Nevada Pale Ale & Glissade, Stone Arrogant Bastard, Deschutes Red Chair, Lakeside Yard Sale Amber, Big Sky Moose Drool, Black Star Pilsner, New Belgium Fat Tire, Blackfoot Single Malt IPA & Organic Pale Ale, Kettlehouse Double Haul IPA & Cold Smoke Scotch Ale. All beers are served in mason jars which hold 16oz, and cost $3.25. During Happy Hour, which is 1pm to 6pm (I think) all beers are reduced to $2.75!!! Bar & wait staff are very friendly. Food is above average bar grub; the nacho plate to share is a sight to see; will easily feed 4 or 5 people. Bands play most nights, which really draws the crowd in (beer prices rise $0.25 to help pay the band). This is THE place to go for a good night out in Whitefish.“

“Excellent place to grab beers. Just looking at the entire back wall is a sight to see. And it was nice that all the Big Boy’s stuff is in the far corner; the craft selection fills 3/4’s of the fridges!!! Totally spoilt for choice when I was there (Easter Weekend). Deschutes Abyss, Sierra Nevada Ovila, Stone Old Guardian Belgo, fresh 6 packs from Deschutes, Bridgeport, New Belgium, Widmer’s, Sierra Nevada, Stone. All the Montanan breweries were covered too. A good touch is that you can split 6 packs and mix your won. Nice selection of Unibroue beers and European beers too. For a small town, the beer selection really is something special. A MUST visit!!!“

“Well I was disappointed here. No Ninkasi, no Deschutes. I did find Life and Limb which was nice I guess. No one there knew anything about the beer. I bought some sale items of Full Sail for 3.99 a bomber. Best thing I got was Struise Tseejus for 3.99. I must have come at a bad time. Came back a few months later, selection was still kind of lacking but I did find several nice things.“

“So Kyle tells me I have to see this place in Whitefish Montana. Now, with Whitefish being a few short hours away I was not opposed if this place really was as good as what he said. We walked in and the beer is in the far end of this unassuming little grocery store. The first thing that I notice is that their micro and craft beers are all in prime location with the macros pushed aside in the far corner. The selection here is absolutely blew me away. Stone, Cantillion, Jolly Pumpkin, a double facing of Dechutes abyss, Mikkeller, Left Hand. The kind of beer selection that will make any beer geek weep... In Whitefish. Damn. The staff looked at all of us kind of funny and had no idea what we were doing (four of us went and each spent over $100). But a must see if you are any where near Whitefish.“

“Stopped in on Duffman’s recommendation. Selection was surprisingly good, though there were no longer any beers from DFH, Stone, Allagash, Cantillon, or Rodenbach. Instead I found 2 varieties of Mikkeller, 2 varieties of Jolly Pumpkin, the Koff Porter, the Carnegie Porter, plenty of Deschutes, a few Rauchbiers, a de Dolle, a lone Wolavers, plus a generally broad selection of other microbrews. Not sure about the service, in the 20 minutes or so I was picking out beer, no-one so much as came by to ask if I was finding what I was looking for, nor was any help forthcoming for a carry-out. For the size of the town the selection is unreal, and apparently rotating, being as Duffman and I saw completely different selections when we were there. Bonus points for being just around the corner from Great Northern Brewing also.“

“After several stops at local liquor stores without any success in finding micros or craft beers of any kind, we were finally advised to try this place. What a pleasant surprise! It is a combination food market, wine shop, and beer store, and they do all three things well. The beer selection was astonishing considering the size of the town, and more importantly the quality was top-notch. Nearly all local micros were found here (at least the ones you can buy in bottles), as well as gems from across the states such as Dogfish Head (6 varieties), Wolavers, Deschutes, Stone, Allagash, Jolly Pumpkin, and many others that I can’t immediately recall. They also had a great selection of quality imports, including several styles from Cantillon, Rodenbach Grand Cu, some nice saisons from France, some Olfabrikken (sp?), Kulmbacher eisbock, and many others I cannot bring to mind. We blew our budget for the week here, and it is a bonus that they do not mind if you mix and match 6-packs! Very friendly helpful staff who insisted they help carry our giant stash to our trunk. If you are in Whitefish and want to find top quality beer with a decent selection, this place is an absolute must! My rating numbers are based on the size of the town that this place is in there are bigger stores in bigger cities, but this is a wonderful local treasure chest of beer.“
