62 /100 WOODSIDE ROAD, I thought I’d add this pub as it is useful for ticks, this and another pub in town are the most south easterly Arkell’s pubs. It’s down a narrow country lane, I drove to the pub and then had to drive back down the lane again to find somewhere to park. Very popular place. I think it’s a bit of a trendy spot, but didn’t seem to suffer for that - was a mixture of country pub atmosphere, with a busy main bar of customers watching rugby. I was in a hurry and just had the Kingsdown Ale, however if I understand the website correctly they have 4 permanent Arkell’s beers on (3B, 2B and Wiltshire Gold), plus seasonals and the occasional specials. The other Arkell’s pubs I went to had their own lager on as well, but not sure about The Duke.
(I went to a wedding in Hungerford so booked an Arkell’s pub for lunch the next day, but was too hung over to face any beer! Then discovered that I was a 20 minute drive from this place). |
