62 /100 Maypole Inn (Bar) MAYPOLE LANE, YAPTON UPDATE Sep 2009: the number of ales are the same, though the Ringwood is now Dark Star Hophead and the mild changes from time to time: currently it’s Greene King. Keg range have changed: can’t remember exactly what’s on, but one cider is Aspall’s; otherwise "usual suspects", which also covers the bottles. A change of manager a couple of years ago has seen the late opening hours cut back to more usual ྫ weekdays, 12 Fri/Sat or thereabouts) and the recession has reduced the number of visitors, which means a greater chance of getting a beer which is getting a bit tired. Most beers £2.80, except the mild which is still £2.30. Still worth a visit if you’re in the area, but probably not worth a major diversion.
Old rating:
3 regular ales (Ringwood Best, Skinner’s Betty Stogs, Arundel Mild) plus 3 guests, usually from SE England. Also 4 mainstream lagers, Guinness. Cider: keg Addlestone’s & Thatcher’s plus 1 real cider (usually Sheppy’s but changes). Bottled W J King Red River, plus usual mainstream Bud, Becks etc. Currently has some bottled 2003 Thomas Hardy’s Ale. Dogs and well-behaved children welcome. Overall, a very friendly pub, well worth visiting. |
