“Visited here on an early Saturday evening in late October '18, Just happened to be their 1st Anniversary celebration and the place was packed - even had a band playing. Big wide open space, appears to have been some large retail place previously. Great tap selection, a lot of special one-offs due to their Anniversary. All I had were top notch as the few I have had out in town have been, a tad on the pricey side. Half pours are available, which is nice for ticking, Food menu is slightly limited, mainly sandwiches and flatbreads, but tasty. Service was solid and kept up with the heavy Anniversary crowd. Good addition to the already burgeoning beer scene in Athens.“

“Visited here in mid October '18 on a Saturday afternoon to watch some football. Decent beer selection, a few local and regional craft selections, priced reasonably. Food is belly filling and typical sports bar fare and reasonably priced. Friendly, talkative clientele Plenty of TVs and all seem to be working (a problem with a lot of sports bars these days it seems). Friendly, prompt service.“

“Visited here in mid October '18 on a Saturday afternoon to watch some football. Very good beer selection for a Beef's. Plenty of local and regional craft selections, priced reasonably. Food is belly filling and the same as at any other Beef's. Plenty of TVs and all seem to be working (a problem with a lot of sports bars these days it seems). Friendly, prompt service.“

“Visited here on a rainy Thursday night on early August '18. Place was packed due to the students returning to town and the power was out! No problem - the staff kept pumping out the suds without a pause. The power eventually came back on and we could get a better look around. Warehouse-type joint, opens up to the outside, several small tables scattered throughout, no frills. Beer was solid, reasonably priced, friendly energetic servers. Free boiled peanuts are a nice touch! Food truck parked outside, did not partake. Another solid entry to the burgeoning Athens beer scene.“

“Visited here for the first time in August '17 and again in May '18. Southern themed chain restaurant, plenty of chicken dishes and southern sides. Their specialty for beer is 40 ozers, and they have a wide selection. Also have a solid selection of regional craft, all decently priced - Akademia, Southern Brewing, Creature Comforts etc Service is prompt and friendly,“

“Old school British pub vibe, including small quarters and cramped tables, but it adds to charm. Food is pretty solid, and along the same lines of idea as the decor. Beer selection is average to good, depending on the day; don't expect whales, but good stuff to drink. Better places in town, but if you're just trying to stay in Five Points, not a bad option.“

“Awesome space, with an open floor plan that looks right into the brewery, a huge bar, that goes inside and out. Service is working on it, there are some great people, but for the most part its college kids that don't really care or care to know. Large variety of house made brews that are all decent to good, and a well curated guest selection of draft and bottles. Food is solid bar food, some comfort and classy twists, but don't expect five star cuisine. Definitely better than Copper Creek, and nice to have a brewpub in Athens.“

“Visited November 2017. Really cool place! Pretty good beer, too. Service was fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. This is really a cool place - there's a large bar area with seating, TVs, and all that good stuff, but there's also a huge outdoor area. They had games, lots of chairs, and even started a bonfire as the chilly November air set in. Will definitely be back!“

“Visited November 2017. This is technically separate from the liquor store because they're probably not allowed to do both because GA is stupid. Lots of taps, lots of good stuff, and you can get samples for 50 cents, even if you can't drink a pint there - again, likely stupid laws that aren't their fault. I left happy! Fast, friendly, and knowledgeable service.“

“Visited November 2017. This is a MUST STOP if you are in Athens. Since the laws are changed, you don't have to deal with the tour BS and they have a killer taplist and bottle selection. Staff was fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. Main complaint would be on-premise bottle prices were insane, even if they were special release BA impy stouts. $55 isn't worth it to me! I will definitely hit this place again. In fact, CC is a reason to visit Athens all in itself.“

“Visited November 2017. Yeah, yeah, they're sellouts, but hey, Georgia ratings! Really cool place. A little put off when you walk in as you're forced to walk through their little gift shop, but I suppose if there's a line, it's nice to look at stuff while you wait. Large bar with fast, friendly, and knowledgeable service. I'd go back in town!“

“Visited November 2017. Quaint little store with A SHIT TON of stuff crammed in. Especially coming from Valdosta, I was blown away with their selection... just hundreds and hundreds of beers I hadn't had, including a good handful of new Georgia ratings, which is what I was really looking for. Fantastic selection and the people were friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely go back!“

“Visited November 2017. Cool little pub in the main sorta downtown area in Athens. Depending on when you pop in, they tend to have a kick-ass taplist. There were a good amount of ticks for me when I was there, including a couple GA beers, which is what I was looking for. We sat at a table and ate. Food was average, honestly, as were prices - if not a touch high. Our server was knowledgeable when we ate and the next day when we hit the bar. Very friendly and a neat pub atmosphere. Will definitely stop next time in town and this place is borderline a destination stop.“

Several rows of bombers, singles, six packs. Picked up a tall boy of Speedway Stout just because I had never seen it in a can before, Will stop by next time I am in town and can pick up a few.“

Fast, friendly attentive service, Have about 25 craft selections on tap, mostly regional and some one off from some brewers out west. “Visited here in early November '17 on a Saturday night close to last call, no problem, they were happy to serve us. Big, wide open space with large high top tables interspersed, also have an outdoor space, One large TV inside tuned to a game. Have about 15 or so of theirs on tap; all of the regulars and a few one-offs, All priced at $5 per serving which is nice, Nice to see the tap rooms in Georgia can now operate more freely without all of those silly tour laws,“

“Visited here in early November '17 for a late night dinner. Smallish, English pub-like atmosphere. Quick, attentive service. Have a few English taps, some local favorites in cans/bottles. Menu had some pub classics, fish and chips, bangers and mash and some Indian dishes, I had the Vindaloo lamb curry and it was excellent. Shares a parking lot with Five Points - the best beer store in town, Worth a stop after perusing the selection next door.“

“Visited here in mid-August ’17 on a early Saturday night and the place was hopping. Old car room showroom I believe, lots of space, big bar area, equipment is visible, Have about eight of their own on tap, all were excellent - most you can find around the state, I think two may have been tap room only. Due to the strange Georgia laws they have a weird "tour" system but they make the most of it, For $14 bucks you get a take-home glass and 6 healthy pours. They close early n the weekends. Will be interesting to visit when they can act like a real taproom in a few months when the law changes,“

Has a large walk-in cooler with tons of sixers, bombers and 12 paks. Some great specials - Two Hearted for $15.99 a 12 pak! Has a growler station with about five taps. Will be a regular stop when I visit my son who lives just down the street.“

“In the hip Normaltown area of Athens, so it’s a bit hip too, but nice split plan with bar in one half, restaurant seating on the other that turns into lounge at night. Old Trivial Pursuit questions on every table, quirky and fun. Service is great, super friendly and know their beer, and cocktails, for sure. Selection is always solid, great locals and regionals, usually something special you can’t find elsewhere. Food is awesome, sandwiches, hot dogs, good vegetarian options. Great prices on everything too. A hidden gem you should check out if you’re in Athens.“

“I always stop here when visiting Georgia. Great bottle selection of local and regional offerings. Additionally, they usually have some pretty decent lambic (Hansens, Black Label G, Tilq, etc). They also seem to have the widest variety of Stillwater/Evil Twin offerings I’ve ever come across which is cool to snag bottles of stuff you don’t see elsewhere. Nice selection of meads as well. Friendly employees and super attentive (asked if we needed help at least 5 times). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.“

“Huge warehouse facility with lots of standing room, two separate bars, seating around the exterior and long picnic tables in the center. Due to state law, you’re required to purchase a "tour" for $14/person which gets you a glass and 6x 6oz drink tickets. Both times I’ve been there, they’ve been heavy on the pours. On our most recent visit they had about 10 different beers on draft all of which were tasting great. The IPAs are dialed-in and the berliner/gose stuff is tasting fresh and tart. The porters and coffee treated stuff is great too, so I’m excited to return the next time I’m in town. They had 6 packs and 2x 750mL to-go but limited to either/or 1 per person. Service is great, the bathrooms are clean and the place is dog-friendly. Definitely the best brewery out of GA at the moment.“

“Nice place to check out right across the street from Trappeze Pub & behind Creature Comforts. About 5 draft lines with mostly local/GA craft offerings (Second Self, Creature Comforts, etc.) and a thousand or so board games/games to play. They have coffee and food as well, but we just had a round while playing "OBAMA LLAMA." It’s a cool spot to check out if you are traveling from out of town and are waiting for CC to open. Kids are welcome - and there were a few family there when we stopped by.“

“Smaller place, packed with seating because it is consistently busy. Service knows little to nothing about beer, but they are friendly and do their job well. Selection isn’t bad for being on the college side of town, local stuff on tap most of the time and a different rotating beer of the month. Food is the best part, wing wednesdays, good pizza. “It’s a mellow mushroom, ya hippy, just like most of them, this one with some sports stuff for UGA. Beer selection has nice variety, but I don’t think they clean their tap lines very often, cause there were some bad off flavors going on. So many better places in town.“

“Despite Georgia’s archaic beer laws (you had to buy a tour/glass and 6 6 oz pours per person) I still really liked this place. That format would prevent many repeat visits, though. Atmosphere was festive, lots of room outside and in, dog friendly. Most importantly, the 6 beers ranged from solid to great. Top tier Berliner and IIPA, and IPA. If they had more than 6 taps, you could share a tasting with a friend, but the rules prevent that :(“

“Interesting little spot near the bottle shop. Just over 50 taps. They will pour you up to 4 tasters at $0.50 each to help you figure out your purchase. Lots of glassware for sale. They have some CO2 gas on tap that they use to purge the growler prior to filling, which is a nice touch.“

“They are set up to be a compound type place, with a whole lot of land and their own entrance way. A big warehouse for now with a nice little handmade bar, using wood from the burnt down Georgia theater, giving it a truly local feel. Service is great, everyone really wants to be there and knows a lot about the beer. Selection isn’t the best, but they’re still getting their feet wet on the brewhouse; Saturdays do have some test batches though. The same plight of all Georgia breweries, you pay for a glass/tour, you get free beer.“

“Large brewery and taproom on the edge of town. Tours Wed-Sun. $12 for a souvenir glass and 36oz of samples (6 tickets for 6oz each). Four tap stations with around 10-12 selections (including some special limted ones) available -- all house brews, Beer ranges from good to very good. Some of the servers knew their beer well and could answer questions, others not so well. Cask Night on Wednesdays, with special one-off versions (barreled stuff, special hop, etc.). Friendly vibe. Can get crowded and noisy -- Athens is a college town, and the crowd is mostly very young. Large grassy area out back, with tables, a live music stage, and an additional tap station. Definitely a place to visit when in the area.“

“Stopped by to fill up a growler, and almost didn’t spot the little shed off to the right side of the bottle shop. Apparently this is a ’separate business’ from the bottle shop, due to the screwy local laws. Very small space, packed with taps and glassware. Cool garage door that I’m sure would be open on a game day in the fall. The employee was friendly and helpful, but almost seemed a hermit, being stuffed in a tiny shed off by himself. The tap list is pretty nice, with a good range of stuff, and some interesting, rarer stuff. The prices are fair, or maybe a touch high, and the $0.50 "sanitation fee" was unannounced, which I didn’t appreciate. Still, this is a good place for growler fills in Athens. I’d recommend it, just for the selection and the ludicrous spread of glassware.“

“Went for Sunday morning brunch. Has a minimalist-hipster decor going on, with bare concrete floors, old repurposed doors and windows, and unadorned pine tables. The servers were very attentive and excited about the food and beer. The draft list is excellent, focusing on locals (lots of Terrapin and Creature Comforts), but with very good regional and national beers. The food was relatively simple, but well made and with a nice twist. The beer prices are fantastic, and even better with half pours. More than that, even the food and wine are very reasonably priced. This is a very nice bar, with good prices, a great draft list, and generally good vibe. I hope to be back soon.“

“Visited here in early April ’15. Excellent location in downtown Athens near the University of Georgia campus. Nice decor, not college-bar like, and not overly fancy - just comfortable. Service is prompt and efficient. Beer selection is varied. not huge, but enough to keep me occupied. Food is excellent, I recommend any of their fries for a shared appetizer. For dinner I had North Carolina trout with sides of grits and the best tasting mushrooms I have ever had - ’Garlic Crimini’ according to the menu. They also serve their beers in "half-servings’ for a little bit above half price, which is excellent for a sampler like me. Deserving of its lofty rating.“

“Visited here in early April ’15. Large expansive liquor store with more beer than you can shake a stick at - not quite the selection that their other location has that I visited in 2009 - but still several hundred if not 1000 or so to choose from. Plenty of singles and reasonably priced bomber which is great for a ticker like me. Lots of locals to choose from. Plenty of rare beers to choose from if there is your thing. For singles, they knock off 10% for each six you buy, which is nice, but they only have 4-pak holders - odd. No problem at checkout with single pricing, but the cash register display is not visible - so you have to make sure you did not get charged a 6-pak price for a single by looking at the receipt - pet peeve of mine. Of the two - I prefer the other location - but this was close to my hotel.“

“This hole in the wall is worth finding if you’re on the mood for a brewski or ree, and some rap music. Service is quick and helpful, but not overly friendly. “Located in downtown Athens, easy to find, it has a lived-in and relaxing interior, the feel of a real neighborhood bar. Service is alert, helpful, and friendly but not overly friendly. Beer selection is quite impressive, emphasizing crafts, especially locals - plenty of Terrapin on hand! Food is very good, tasty and satisfying. “Visited on a hot August afternoon. They’ve been open since May 2014. Building is a former tire shop. One inside area, very large, with a high curved ceiling, and looks like an airplane hanger. Two bars, one small and one large. A few long tables, but mostly wide open space, with small wooden counters around the walls. Brewery area open and visible in the back. Fairly loud music. The way it works is this: you are requested to buy a Creature Comforts glass for $12, and you receive a plastic wrist band with six beer tabs. The server will take one tab each time you get a sample, and the samples are generous (maybe 6-8oz. each). Five taps were on when I was there; thus, only a few styles, but the brewers have an interesting take on each one: Motueka hops in the pils or French oak in the rye/amber ale. I’d rate this place higher if the beer selection were larger. The service is quick and very friendly. Had a brief chat with the brewing crew, as they sat at one of the long tables, laptops open, formulating recipes. A great addition to the Athens beer scene, and I imagine them only getting better.
Revisited on Feb 14, 2017. I kinda want to lower my review score... but I won’t .The price has gone up to $14. Only seven taps going, most of them just the same old regular beers you can get anywhere around here, with only two limited brews available. A taproom should be a place to get more unusual brews and a showcase for experimental stuff. Anyway... the beer is as good as always.“

“Visited on a hot Wednesday afternoon. Pleasant and cool inside, and not so crowded. Large dining area and bar area with seven booths and space for maybe 15 people at the bar. Nice, more or less eclectic, beer list -- 33 taps (maybe half from the South, and 12 of them from Georgia) and 250+ bottles. No bottle list, and I had to glance around at the several coolers -- bar guy simply said, "I haven’t counted lately". Service was okay, uncaring and nothing special. Prices are fairly high: half-pours ranging from $2.75 to $5.25 and 120z. pours from $4.50 to $9.00. Two specialty flights of four x 5oz. pours were on: one flight of Lagunitas brews for $14 and one of Evil Twin for $28 (ouch!), and both flights included some rarer beers. Limited wine and cocktail list. Fairly loud music on the system: country, alt-pop, and classic rock. Beers are in great condition and poured carefully. A very nice place -- great for the southern US, but doesn’t really stack up with the best ones in other parts of the country.“
