66 /100 Smyrna World of Beverages (Beer Store) 4474 S COBB ST I’ve visited this store quite a few times over the past 9-10 years but base this review mainly on my 2 recent visits. The store has expanded it’s selection of beers and added more beer coolers, but seems to have increased it’s pricing relative to other stores. E.g., Hop City, with better selection and better personnel may have better average prices. This is primarily a liquor and wine store, with beer a secondary consideration. No mix-6 packs here, but plenty of bombers and 4- or 6-packs. Occasionally a good location for beers that can’t be found elsewhere in ATL. |
54 /100 Cost Plus World Market - Smyrna Cumberland (Beer Store) 2530 CUMBERLAND BLVD Large store, plenty of parking since it’s in an outdoor mall. Beer is tucked into the back left corner. All the usual suspects from Germany, Mexico, Belgium, plus a handful of regional offering. The sign saying "mixed sixers for $1.99" caught my attention, but of course it’s 2 bucks per beer. Oh well. |
80 /100 The Stout Brothers (Beer Store) 1265 W SPRING ST, STE D Great growler shop and bottle store in one, with knowledgeable staff, great selection, and samples to drink there. In a bit of a hard to get to area, but cool spot. |
68 /100 Keegan’s Public House (Bar) 4687 S. ATLANTA RD. SE #224 Interior is roomy yet intimate, plenty of seating for various sized groups. It still seems a little new, but give it time to get that lived and loved ambience. Service is good, if not the best I’ve had. They have a good beer selection and tasty food. |
92 /100 The Stout Brothers (Beer Store) 1265 W SPRING ST, STE D Absolutely amazing store! Lots of taps, and a flight of 5 tasters is $7 - great value. Downside is that due to local law, you can only get one flight per day. Service was out of this world - extremely knowledgeable staff helped me out, and I’m not gonna exactly say he hooked me up with additional tasters (not looking to get anyone in trouble), but, well...’nuff said. Beer selection is large (however, I’ve seen larger), but what they have is good stuff. Lots of 12-oz singles for $1.75-$3.50 per. A number of hard to find beers, and lots of locals. I’ll be back everytime I’m in the area. |
92 /100 The Stout Brothers (Beer Store) 1265 W SPRING ST, STE D Interior is very inviting - and their line of taps impressive. Their board is color-coded by type, which helps. Service is alert and very helpful. Can’t make up your mind? Sample a flight - and rate it right thar. Bottle selection is good, too. Both taps and bottles emphasize local microbrews, but include some excellent imports. Since it is near a couple good taverns, this deserves multiple visits! |
82 /100 Varners (Restaurant) 725 CONCORD RD SE Good pub grub! Great place to watch the game while also enjoying good beer. Great beer selection, but their prices are getting way too high. Was recently charged $7.25 for a run of the mill New Belgium beer, and $7.50 for a Rogue IPA - ridiculous, in my opinion. Nevertheless, best beer selection in the area. |
100 /100 The Stout Brothers (Beer Store) 1265 W SPRING ST, STE D Best tap selection of any growler shop I’ve ever been to - I don’t know how they get so many rare kegs. They don’t even bother with the run of the mill (while still good) stuff such as Sweetwater IPA. Staff is friendly and super knowledgeable. Prices are hefty due to the quality of the beer - still a good value for what you’re getting. Enjoy a tasting flight for $6 if you check in. Also be sure to check out their selection of local meats and cheeses - the cheddarwurst are phenomenal! |
74 /100 Smyrna World of Beverages (Beer Store) 4474 S COBB ST Big box store with a pretty good selectIon and decent prices. Lots of imports and singles, service was OK but not really attentive. Decent but nothing special. |
90 /100 The Stout Brothers (Beer Store) 1265 W SPRING ST, STE D Great tap list. Smaller bottle section. Packaged butcher meats. Beer ice cream. They also allow tasting flights! |
70 /100 Muss & Turner’s (Restaurant) 1675 CUMBERLAND PKWY, STE 309 Walked in and immediately thought I was in the wrong place. Deli looking front, but then the front counter dude saw that I was confused and directed me towards a freezer door. I walked thru a very Prohibition entryway to a complete 180 of a dark quant bar. The lady was impressed. Just had a delicious app and a couple beers. Beer selection was above average and I would say this place is well worth going to if in the area. |
72 /100 Smyrna World of Beverages (Beer Store) 4474 S COBB ST A large warehouse type store. People working their were friendly if not particularly knowledgeable about beer. Selection is solid, but not at the same level as the top stores in the Atlanta area. Prices a very competitive. Worth a stop if you are in the area, but if you can make to any of the more highly regard stores, you will get a better selection. |
90 /100 Muss & Turner’s (Restaurant) 1675 CUMBERLAND PKWY, STE 309 Good food and pretty good beer selection. Need more draft beers. |
64 /100 2840 ATLANTA RD After manicures and pedicures we walked over to Atkins Park to enjoy some beer on the patio. Our waitress was awesome and all 6 different beers we had were delicious. Just wish there was a bit more of a selection...and one of the micros that was supposed to be on tap, wasnt even there. |
58 /100 2840 ATLANTA RD This tavern has several rooms, including a heated patio, so if you don’t like a lot of noise you can go to a quiet corner. Music is not intrusive so intimate conversation is possible. I had some of their brunch food, and it is excellent and reasonably priced. Beer selection is not much, but they have a decent selection of locals and craft brews. If your goal is fun and good food rather than finding new beers to try - though I did find one that I have never had - this is worth checking out. They are easy to find, and parking is fairly plentiful. |
70 /100 Muss & Turner’s (Restaurant) 1675 CUMBERLAND PKWY, STE 309 Muss & Turner’s is more deli than bar, particularly during lunch, but you can still get a respectable selection of brewskis, and they do have a small bar section for those who are interested in hops more than in hoagies. Their sandwiches are scrumptious and reasonably priced. Though they don’t have a wide variety of beers, what you can get is mostly good stuff. I recall only a couple industrial brews in their beer selection. If you are seeking more of a bar ambiance, you probably want to visit them in the evening (I was there for lunch), from what the waitstaff told me. The waiters, by the way, are very good and quite helpful. They have a good system down so you can put in your order quickly, and if they are a shade slow at bringing your brewskis, it’s just because they are so busy.
Worthy of a visit. Or two. |
88 /100 Smyrna World of Beverages (Beer Store) 4474 S COBB ST This large store has a truly impressive selection of beer, with emphasis on craft brews and imports over industrial crud. They have the expected swill, but this is off to one side so you see mostly the good stuff: Lost Abbey, Rogue, Great Divide, Terrapin, etc. Jake, the man who assisted me, was very helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks to him, I was able to fill an entire box with some world-class beers I have never tried, and a few that I have never seen before! They have plenty of six- and four-packs, as well as singletons. Their prices are not the lowest, but selection and service are more important than getting cheap beer. I recommend this store if you live in the Atlanta area. |
100 /100 Smyrna World of Beverages (Beer Store) 4474 S COBB ST Great selection of craft beer. Very knowledgable staff ready to help with suggestions if needed. Highly recommend! |
74 /100 Varners (Restaurant) 725 CONCORD RD SE My friends and I went here on trivia night. The place was kinda empty except for a party in the bar area. They have a good selection of beers, and the bar-tender was very helpful and let me try a few different things before making my decision... The food was nothing impressive, but got the job done and the trivia was a little over our heads, but I was just there for the beer.... |
