“Large freestanding pub and grounds at the end of the village before the main road dips down to the Orwell on its way to Ipswich. The building is old but has been added to through the years - there's at least 4 types of slate on its roof. Now a food pub, drinking without is fine but probably not on one of the tables with the cutlery already set out. The beer garden is huge though so if the weather is good this won't matter! They also grow their own produce and keep poultry. There's even a small cinema in a barn. Several guest cask lines are at the bar with one from the Phantasmo Brewery, which seems to be linked to the premises. A line of better known craft keg is also available.“

“Visited 12/9/2018. Recently reopened and definitely leaning towards being a gastro/craft pub. Has around 18 pumps/taps and around 30 bottles/cans. Only place to get Phantasmo beers which I was told are made by a one-man brewer situated halfway between Ipswich and Bury. They were ok. Others are from local breweries and further afield. Noteworthy was that Atom featured both on tap and in cans, plus had a range of Saxby ciders from northants. Food tbh was disappointing. But beer wise this is a new kid on the block worth looking up if in the area. Has a lovely large beer garden at the back.“
