We visited here on Saturday 2nd February 2019, the we being me, Loz, Steve Matthews, Peter Fowler and his daughter Claire. we were up in the North East to spend the weekend with Peter. I cannot really explain how we got here as we arrived by Taxi from Peters. However looking at Google Maps It suggests either a 34 minute walk from the centre of Sunderland or an 11 minute bus ride on the E1 South Shields bound bus which you can pick up at Fawcett Street, it goes three times an hour and is seven stops, stopping right outside this place (look out for the Roker Hotel stop). It is on the seafront there is a small car park and as you enter the hotel is straight ahead and the bar is off to the right hand side.

It is quite a large bar, the bar itself is L shaped, there is plenty of seating throughout we pitched up by the windows for a sea view. There is a covered but also partially open heated terraced for smokers and for sitting out in the summer. There is a raised section inside with more seating and whilst it's a bar they do have quite a lot of folk here eating. We ate and the food was generous in terms of portion size and was okay in terms of quality. The usual array of burgers, chips (dirty chips with cheese), Nacho's etc. The prices for food were very good.

Beer choice was mostly confined to cask today, they had about there offerings from Sonnet 43 but the craft keg selection which also featured a couple of their beers and which looked more interesting was all off unfortunately. I had 2-3 beers all were in good nick, nothing blew me away. I believe that they have an onsite distillery according to Peter and I did see details in here alluding to this, they had quite a thing on Gins in their menu card. I quite liked it here but our next stop was much, much better. “

“A hotel bar that’s run by the people behind Sonnet 43. The full range of Sonnet 43 beers is usally on offer and in fairly good nick.“

“A hotel pub, bistro with a nice patio and view of the water. Ver commercial with TV and a mish mash of stuff available. Macro crap on keg but all the Sonnet 43 stuff on cask. Well priced, especially if you get a meal special that includes a drink. Although no terribly exciting, a nice stop if you are walking the sea walk.“
