Old Cock (Bar)

“Very close to the bus stands in town, this older stone-brick pub over two floors is mainly a real ale venue with a long row of wickets at the bar - this is at the back of the front facing room to the left of the central entrance, there's also a room to the right and more drinking space above this. The have a lot of well-known regular brews in bottles from Northern Europe too.“

“Moody lit shop-unit bar, mainly a late night and often a music venue. The bar with its limited keg and ale selection, which is immediately on the right after you enter seems to have its best options suppled by Black Sheep brewery. It has a mostly modern appearance but was full of Halloween decor when I visited. Outdoor space at the rear.“

“In an old building slightly off the main road a few doors along from the Wetherspoon pub, the venue brickwork is utilised to great effect alongside the retro decor over two floors. Both rooms are fairly small with a central bar downstairs. Here mostly cask and keg from the North Brewery exist, but some guests are available.“

“Large open-plan pub but almost certainly multi-roomed in the past. Serving food, its ale selection consists of a row of locally produced cask ales and a couple of keg options too. It has a mix of wooden or mainly stone appearance areas with sofas and tables - there's also a fireplace close to one front window. There's an outdoor area at the rear.“

“Small bottle shop down the narrow street at the side of the Wetherspoon pub. It has split selection between international, national and local, bottles and cans. Many Many options.“

“Visited on 1st June 2019. Old pub with a refurbishment on the inside, nothing touched on the outside or courtyard behind. Four cask hand-pulls and a few keg lines, two new rates for me from the Kirkstall Brewery, bottle selection seemed poor. Clean and tidy inside, a bit grubby in the courtyard. Food choices seemed good, we just had a bowl of chips though, as we were eating later. Beer quality was fine, staff OK.“

“Visited on 1st June 2019. Old School Pub with a real ale and dog friendly leaning. Two main rooms on ground level, the bar being against the far wall as you walk in, the other room is on your right. Holds themed beer festivals every so often. Liked the place, not a huge selection of beers, but a bar that deserves to be listed on the database of RateBeer.“

“Visited on 1st June 2019. Basic bar with plenty of seating outside, a few seats and a table inside, upstairs is a further room with comfortable seating (like an upstairs lounge). Interesting cask and keg selection with many new beers to me, I picked up five rates. Barman pleasant, beer quality fine.“

“Had an online delivery from this shop. Was packaged very well (double boxed in fact) and arrived within 48 hours of me ordering. Website is well designed and easy to use. The selection of beers on offer is excellent, especially for Yorkshire brewers, but there's also decent beers from the US, Canada, Belgium, Scandinavia etc. and of course hundreds more from the UK. Value is very good too, prices are very fair and reasonable, everything was as I would expect it to be priced. I contacted them via email about a very minor issue but received a response very quickly, so their service seems extremely good. Overall I'm very impressed and would recommend to others.“

“Part of the chain that started off with the renowned North Bar in Leeds. This one is a cut down version having just two hand pumps and around 10 kegs. Three or four of them are taken up with beers from the house North range. There’s likely to be a few interesting beers on the others. The bottle range is largely well known UK, US and Belgian craft beers, but around 5 or 6 were more interesting limited editions or specials on our visit. It’s a pretty cosy place and can get full quick, although there is an upstairs room that has extra seating and seems to have space even when it’s at capacity down stairs. Overall it’s a great place to enjoy quality beer and you won’t find anywhere better in Otley.“

“Ok. First things first. This is the best value bottle shop I’ve been in. Better than Cotteridge, even. Proper Aladdins Cave of beer. Some stuff I haven’t seen anywhere. Loads of Struisse. De Molen. Fantome Saison at less than I’ve bought it online from Belgium. Kid in a sweetshop time. Really friendly, obliging, beer enthusiast member of staff. Growler fills coming soon, 4 key kegs at a time, apparently. Cracking shop.“

“Situated in a large freestanding stone brick building very typical of Yorkshire this is a comfortable place to drink or eat, but perhaps more so in the rooms in the front of the building than the central conservatory roof area that is slightly impersonal. The front patio area is also an attractive place to drink as it is a pretty enough town and a busy that receives a fair few visitors for its niche shopping and market. Despite there being no shortage of other pubs in the area this can be a busy place. Ale is available on two rows of pumps.“
