42 /100 Wharf Inn (Bar) WHARF ROAD This is a large canal-side pub on the Banbury to Southam road. It gets lots of passing trade and is well known on the canal circuit, standing right next to the Oxford canal. The beer choice is pretty staid unfortunatey, the pub tends to concentrate on food rather than good beer, there being quite a large restaurant. There are a couple of seating areas for drinkers though, plus an outside garden. Plenty of additional facilities for canal users. |
54 /100 Merrie Lion (Bar) HIGH STREET Early 18th Century village pub recently saved from closure by a group of villagers, should be a Free House but contracted to Marston’s. Lots of nooks and cranny’s to park in, warm and welcoming if a little under used on our visit. The beer range is all from the Marston’s fold, including the house beer. A decent village pub that should try and rid itself of a macro brewers influence. |
