38 /100 SOUTHAM ROAD
“Large, imposing pub cum manor house on the opposite bank of the canal from The Two Boats Inn. Huge gardens, lots of benches so must be popular in the summer, but very empty on our visit. Beer was from the Greene King range. Didn’t linger.“

56 /100 SOUTHAM ROAD
“Busy and popular canalside inn on the northern, towpath side of the Grand Union canal. Boaters, villagers, walkers and cycle clubs all squeeze in to quite a tight bar, although there are 2 rooms available. It is happy and popular. The beers are from the Charlie Wells Youngs stable although using the seasonal and special list. The benches next to the canal towpath are a delight. Great place, shame about the beer tie.“

40 /100 THE GREEN,
“Huge roadside pub on the main Banbury to Coventry road. Mock Tudor at its least glamorous, large full car park, mass catering in operation. All the beers were Charlie Wells national brands, no seasonals or guests. Not my type of pub really.“

44 /100 THE GREEN
“Idyllically located, heavily renovated inn on the village green close to the duck pond but off the main road. This proved to be an out and out eatery though with quite a pretentious menu. Nothing really interesting on the beer front, mostly Marston’s nationals available. Not my type of place, but really well preserved.“

Green Man (Bar)
CHURCH ROAD,
“Traditional village local a short walk from the centre, but close to the school and church. Low beams, ceilings, lots of hidy holes, it feels like cottages that have been knocked through. Rightly popular with the villagers and walking & cycling groups, there is a cracking atmosphere. The beers are unfortunately easily found national brands, so nothing on that front. Just a proper village pub.“

58 /100 6 CHURCH ROAD
“Traditional village pub close to the village green and duck pond, there are two open rooms in the pub linked by the bar area. One area to the right as you walk in is a restaurant the bar area is mainly for drinking. There is a small range of beers, well kept plus a couple of unusual, for the area, kegs. Quiet and a little library like on our visit but well worth a look if in the village. Very good food available.“
