60 /100 Hop Pole Inn (Bar) WOODS HILL Literally old pub close to the Limpley-Stoke Best Western Hotel; cozy interior, well kept ales, but strictly limited selection...... But to spend an evening there is much better than to sit in that ugly hotel! |
60 /100 Hop Pole Inn (Bar) WOODS HILL Good pub near to the Kennett-Avon Canal and the Avon itself. A number of different rooms and some good cask ales on tap. |
66 /100 Hop Pole Inn (Bar) WOODS HILL On the Avon, closer to Bradford on Avon than to Bath. Good place to stop along the towpath route if walking or cycling on the Kennet-Avon Canal. More than most places in England, this has a beer garden that reminded me a bit of Germany with picnic tables sprawled out in a large homestead. We sat outside but the interior seemed cozy and the building is very old--they claimed to be a centuries-old pub. Beer was in good condition and not only that, it was a chilled cask which was nice for a change. The selection was pretty small, though. |
