“Located on the beautiful central square this traditional brauhaus is a rustic gem inside. Interiors are very nice done in the vein of skiing tavern in the Alps. 3 local beers (one being a craft attempt at Red Ale) are very decent as well as the food.“

“Right in the town center, parking garage across the street. Modern looking on the outside, but inside is more traditional, lots of wood. Largeish brewhouse on the left as you enter. Friendly staff. Three beers including a seasonal dunkler bock. Nice stop.“

The heart of the Schwarzwald is surely a nicer location than Vesterbro (where I was before coming here...). The interior looks like a Swiss châlet, which probably is very similar to a local traditional house; in other words, 100% wood, wood beams, wooden hut roof... splendid; even the biergarten look like the square of a small alpine village. The waitress doesn’t seem to be very collaborative, they may work a bit on this aspect. They have only two beers, both decent. I have not eaten here, but I saw a plate with Nurnberger wurst + krautern and I regretted I had other plans...“

“Very cosy brewpub with beautiful copper brew kettles on your left as you enter. Beautiful rustic interieur, bright and inviting. Nice surrounding (the old town of Freudenstadt). Thanks Quack-Duck to have proposed the traditional local Maultaschen- I enjoyed them a lot, as well as the salad as a matter of fact. A place with plenty of character. The seasonal Nikolausbier was definitely the best beer available in my opinion.“

“Gasthausbrauerei in the centre of the Black Forest town of Freudenstadt. Visited on December 8th together with fellow ratebeerian allen. Typical Black Forest interieur (i.e. lots of wood), nicely decorated with hops and also with christmas decoration. Their seasonal Nikolausbier was available, which they do not bottle, unfortunately. Three beers were on tap. The menu offers hearty Swabian cuisine. We had the Maultaschen and thoroughly enjoyed them. Service was friendly, although the place was packed with people. Souvenirs to take away are also available (e.g. beer mats, glasses, brochures, bottles Pils). If you are in the Black Forest it is well worth a visit.“

“Located in a downtown area in the Black Forest region, this brewhouse is really nice. Two copper kettles are visible from the street. Old fashioned bikes and other paraphenalia decorate the interior. A clean updated feel with an old fashioned charm. Food was incredible. Service very good. The beer portion of the menu is somewhat limited, redundant and hard to understand, even in English, with variations or options, such as radler, sweet/sour (is it sweet and sour or sweet or sour), strung together under one of the listings all with the same price. A minor annoyance. Great place.“

“January 2002: This is a prototypical German Brewpub on the scenic city square. Top notch all the way around. “
