“Not a big selection of beers, worth a visit if you are passing. Server was on his first day and got our first order wrong. Improved after that.“

“Large beer hall at the Maisel brewery on the edge of town. Large beer garden too with big umbrellas making plenty of shade. A decent list of Maisel beers supplemented by a list of guests. In addition a big list of bottles and cans. If you are a serious beer ticker this is really the only place to visit in Bayreuth. Service was friendly and fairly efficient. Once ordered, our beers did take a while to arrive.“

“Friendly service. Beer choice wasn't fantastic. Beer of the month was a little more interesting. We took one of the tables outside in the square and ordered our lunch. Good size ortions.“

“Beer Store with a big selection. Were possible to find the locally produced ones, plus a few from the neighborhood.“

“This Restaurant, just side-by-side with the beer productions and sell place, has around 5 Schinner beers on Tap (bottles you can by on the "factory"). The food and the service were great. The ambiance as well, and there is also a "biergarten".“

“"Liebesbier" is more or less in the cellar of "Maisel's Bier-Erlebnis-Welt", located in the old brewery of Maisel's, where there's also a beer shop with Maisel beers, German craft and some standard craft beer which can be found everywhere, a museum and so on. "Liebesbier" looks rather modern and isn't intended to be a traditional brewpub. There's lots of wood and metal, while the old bricks are covered by that unfortunately, interior is rather modern, still cozy. Fortunately, they have a spacious patio as well with some sort of a garden as well. The beer menu is mainly Maisel (most of the taps), but there is quite some space for German and international craft as well (a few guest taps but mainly from bottle). Maisel's India Ale and Maisel's Dry Stout are only available here. Tasting boards can be ordered as well. Nice beer selection, but many of the guest beers are widely available. The food is rather modern, hardly any traditional dished on the menu, think of burgers, pulled pork, veggie options or steaks but often with a twist and definitely not as simple as it sounds. For a beer place, the food is pretty high class, but I rather prefer the more traditional, less fancy and less expensive menus. Service is quite attentive but not too knowledgeable, prices for the beers are average (rather high for Franconia), prices fo the food are a little high. Overall, this is a must visit if in Bayreuth, maybe even if in the area, but I don't really get all the high praise for that place as it feels a little anaemic, even if it was well-visited on a Friday during lunch time, still within pandemic times.“

“Grosses modernes Brauerei Restaurant mit schöner Freiterasse. Alle Maisels vom ne Fass und einige Major Crafts. Ok, von den Bieren her nur was für Leute, die noch keine Maisels hatten. Essen ok, aber sehr teuer.“

“The Maisel brewery sure is an amazing place and I don't regret having chosen Bayreuth rather than Bamberg as my Franconian sleep-over some time ago. We arrived during a small beer festival with a couple rather lackluster German craft brewers present and a better one from Italy. The party was out of bounds with lots of people but still classy. Nice women and no fist fights. The beer garden is huge and welcoming, the interior is huge and welcoming too, with a huge bar. Well, this brewery is huge (for good beer standards), so everything about it is huge. Maybe apart from the medium sized disco (yes, they do have a disco in the brewery) that was also fun. Service was absolutely busy, which is perfectly understandable, as the place was crammed full. Food was nice, beers varied. For me their best beer after all their stylistic experiments is still their classic weizen, so I wasn't disappointed. Great place, worth a detour.“

“"Liebesbier" is a modern pub and restaurant. Patrons are seated right in the heart of the brewery where they can watch the master brewers practice their art. 21 different beers on tap and over 80 bottled beers testify to the true love for beer as well as the innovation and pioneering spirit of Franconia. The large beer garden is open for guests in the summertime. The culinary enjoyments include homemade limonades and international courts, e.g. Burger, Steaks or Pulled Pork - everything made with best ingredients of the Region.“

“Visited 7.10.17. Good modern craftbeer bar with a natural dominance of Maisel beer - the traditional and the experimental series - but a good selection of other German and international brews on tap and in bottles, all presented in a very comprehensive menu. Food is good - the vegetarian enjoyed his meal, and for me they tweaked a vegan dish. Friendly and knowledgeable staff that were patient with us and the ratings. I believe they speak English. It stands alone as a great craft beer bar and restaurant, but after a week of traditional dunkel-helles-landbier-rauchbier, it was really outstanding. Spent the entire evening there.“

“Visited 7.10.17. Quick stop for one round upon our entering the city. Place is very family oriented with crayons and board games to entertain the younger customers. Pictures of family and patrons on the wall (we know it because we were sitting across the room from a guy whose photo hung above our table. We didn't catch his place - he was there when we arrived!). 2 taps = one round. Beer was basic and not too exciting but we did enjoy the busy weekend atmosphere.“

“Great place to go. Modern & very stylish design. A bit difficult service, but great food & fantastic brews. Overall 16 of their taps (including 5 from their mother-brewery). Great ambiance on summer evenings. Sort of a perfect craft-bar-restaurant. Surely returning if in the area.“

“Skipped the tour in favor of "direct" tasting in the nearby Herzogkeller (owned by the brewery). Great terrace in summer, 7 local brews on tap - all in good form.“

“April 2017. At the time walking in I had tasted 3000 plus German beers mainly from Franconia. I Walked out with 45 new ones and I left out radlers, LOw alcohols, etc. Amazing after plus 10 visits to Franken. Rude woman who looked more like kicking US out rather than helping US. A must stop nevertheless.“

“Basically a bakery which continues the old Franconian tradition of combining baking and brewing in the same workshop. Today, the Lang bakery does not brew its own beer any longer, but five times a year they serve a beer brewed exclusively for them by an unknown brewery near Bayreuth according to an old family recipe. The beer is nothing special but the atmosphere is great - you meet all sorts of people there.“

“Located a few minutes’ walk from the main square in the Old Town, this venue is a stylish, modern restaurant dedicated to Maisel’s beer, although the truly impressive selection includes other decent beers as well. Decent food and very friendly and polite staff. A little pricey but definitely worth a visit.“

“Super quick in-and-out stop at Becher. On the outside they have an impressive glass facade in front of the stainless steel Kaspar Schulz brewhouse. I’d guess it was between 10-12hl? Inside there is a narrow hallway with a fruit machine and an ice cream freezer in front of the classic Schaenke window. To the right of that is the actual Stube which was pretty cosy in a somewhat old school style. Was pretty busy so I stood outside at the Schaenke and ordered an Original. Beer was cold and tasty, other beers from tap I didn’t get around to try but they had seasonal bock. Bottles cost 80 cents to go, full range (helles, dunkel, pils, etc.) That being said the decor in the hallway was pretty atrocious and far from what you’d expect for cosy upper-franconia.“

“Similar look and feel and organization as most Getränkemarkts, but notable because of how many nearby Oberfranken breweries are available here, bottles that don’t see distribution further west near Bamberg.“

“Visited just after lunch on a Saturday in late November 2011. A short bus ride from the centrum then a 3 minute walk down a side street. Modern looking facility from the outside with brewing equipment on display from the street. The drinking room was older with a homely feel. We were the only customers during our 30 minute stop. Service was surly, in a why do you have to be here and makr me do some work, kind of a way. She was a young up and coming surly frau, not the typical middle aged version. Rilester was pissed with her as she wouldnt disclose the Wi-Fi code! Beers were decent enough. If you’re in Bayreuth worth dropping in but I wouldnt lose sleep if you Dont make it here!“

“We visited the Aktien Brauerei in 2012. We had a great tour through the large brewery museum where you can see the old steam machine and a lot of old brewery equipment. Very recommendable! After the museum you can taste the beers in a nice pub which is not public. Great glassware - for each beer different mugs and glasses. We liked the Zwickel most. On the same day we did a tour through the underground tunnels, which was also very informative.“

“The old brewery buildings still stand, but the beer is brewed at the Maisel brewery in the Hindenburgstrasse. The brewhouse still looks very nice. Every day at 16:00 there is a tour through the Katakomben, the tunnels beneath the brewery, the tour ends with a beer in the former Schalander. Can be combined with a tour of the Maisel Museum next door. There is also a large function room in a higher level of the cellars for all sorts of festivities.“

“Small suburban Brauereigaststätte, traditional interior, outside sating on a quiet street. The Kräusenpils is the main reason to go here, incredibly good. Service can be a bit grumpy but is actually good. Simple food of good quality. Quite some distance from the city centre, busstop on the main street nearby.“

“I go there once a month, at least- the selection changes, he tries to store as many seasonals as possible, and during Bockbiertime, there is no better place in the region, surely not. Very reasonable prices, good selection, good location-what more can you ask for.....“

“Bigger, independent beer store not far from the Bayreuth Hauptbahnhof a bit like the Landbierdealer in Hof or the Landbierparadies in Nuremberg excellent, superb selection of franconian micros, rare beers and seasonals. Friendly, communicative and helpful owner. Worth a journey, especially if You refuse to attend all the beautiful franconian micro-brewers.........“
