Lots of seatings inside as outside.. super friendly service, nice selection of beers, served in good condition.. Beers both on tap and bottles. Bottles to take away as well. For sure worth a visit if in the area.“ |

Some of the great craft brewers of Bavaria brew here so the place is definitely capable of great beer! Tasty food, many locals, just a bit out of the usual range. I was lucky to have been escorted here for a zwickeling session by Yankee&Kraut and I certainly enjoyed my time, also outside of the zwickeling part!“ |
| 80 /100 WESTRING 5 “Modern brewery on the outskirts of the town (which is quite close to Bamberg). Small bar on site selling own beers and cold plates. We just called in here to buy a few six packs of one of our favourite beers - the Mainseidla Amber Spezial, a kind of German take on a British bitter. Noticed some new additions to the range: a Summer Ale, and a local collaboration Bockbier. Service was super-friendly. Prices are very decent (6.30€ for a six pack), can also buy single bottles. Would like to try a beer from the tap next time I visit.“ |
| 70 /100 BÜHLSTRASSE 35 “Unsere kleine Hümmer-Bräu is housed in the same building as Pension Karin (if you need a place to stay), located on a residential street in Breitenguessbach. The brewing facility is home made, the braumeister has a background in engineering and brewing equipment so he just up and built his own system. We were offered the Güßbacher Zwickl from tap and a new experimental Roggenbier from bottle to try, both were decent to good, and if something new comes out of this interesting little brewery I would not hesitate to stop in and give it a try. Best to call ahead if you’re visiting for the beer.“ |

Still visited (in the morning!) by the usual elderly men you find in rural Franconian breweries, enjoying their early morning pint. A friendly woman happily sold me a sixpack filled with their beers for a quite reasonable 6 euros. Recommended.

| 66 /100 BÜHLSTRASSE 35 “Visited Pension Karin at a bad moment. The brewer was just taken home from the hospital by Karin herself with a badly injured foot. Still Karin was happy to sell us a sixpack with 2 * 3 beers from this tiny brewery. Very friendly service and less then a kilometres walk from the other Breitengüssbach brewery.“ |
| 86 /100 BÜHLSTRASSE 35 “Came to this place that was relatively well advertised (you can spot the pension Karin and it says Hümmer bräu on a sign. Mr. Hümmer was doing some yard work in the back, and although he spoke no English immediately knew what we were after and invited us to take a seat out back in the garden. It is a pretty tacky place, but certainly a lot of fun. He briefly described his setup which I later saw, a 140liter brewery that he runs pretty much at capacity - so much so that he had no bottles for us to take home with us (he kegs and bottles). His beers are absolutely amazing, I was blown away by the Zwickl, but then one of my friends tried the weissbier and I almost regretted my second zwickl, easily the best weisse I ever drank. Didn’t stay long enough to try the dunkel, it will be for next time.“ |

The beer however, is outrageously good. Service was friendly enough, we sat on the picnic tables outside because the inside was completely full. Will go back for a few someday.“ |

| 50 /100 Brauerei Hümmer (Restaurant) BAMBERGERSTRASSE 22 “Visited July 2013. This place is not closed, although they closed the brewery in 2011. There is a big ugly hole in the wall were the pulled out the brewing equipment. You can park your bike in there now. I sat outside in the biergarten. Much of the area is given over to a play area for children, located in the middle of everything, so there is no escape. They now serve Rittmayer beers. I had the Rauchbier from a bottle which was good. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go to visit this place.“ |

Many German brewers are very envious of the system here. State of the art. No coolship, but that can be made up for easy enough given what they have. The inside is a small white-walled / sterile tasting room with a glass wall to the brewing equipment. Picnic tables outside. Simple food menu. They will show you around the brewhouse. Bottles are sold to-go for all beer expect for the Zwickelpils. Both the Zwickel and the Original pilsners were _fantastic_ on draft during my visit. The bottles of Original taken from the shop, unfortunately, were not so good. Completely different beer. Carbonation in the bottles has been goofed. I will revisit given just how damn good their draft beer was, even though it’s not one of the better places for a session.“ |

| 82 /100 BÜHLSTRASSE 35 “Tiny brewery in the backyard of a modern hotel called "Pension Karin"; Karin’s husband Mr. Karl Hümmer, brewer in the former "big" Hümmer-Brauerei, established his own little brewery in 2011; in a quiet garden Mr. Hümmer serves his very well made beers ; discussions about beer in a very relaxed atmosphere are possible and welcome; even the friendly dogs seem to be interested. Worth a trip!!!“ |
