“We visited here Friday 18th February 2022, I only noticed this place as it is connected to the Schubauers am Dom (Weihenstephaner) place in the centre of Freising, this place is in Kirchdorf an der Amper, a place that became famous for its cycle path a couple of years ago complete with moguls. We visited here and stayed in the village in the camper for the evening. Oberwirt is clearly a popular place as when I went to book the only time slot I could get was 20:30. It is about 2-3 minutes walk from the main road through the village and has parking outside at the front and to the left-hand side, there is a further car park. Inside it is a classic Bavarian establishment, wood panelling, glazed tiles, hunting scenes on the wall, solid, long, chunky wooden tables and chairs, a really authentic feel to this place. There were further smaller rooms off to the side of the entrance where we came in and I understand that this is a hotel, so plenty of rooms are available upstairs as well, I guess. There is also a butcher connected and next door which is owned by the Schubauers group, this is also enormously popular and another reason for our visit. The food was very good, reasonably priced and the portion size was great, I had a Pork cut of the day with homemade dinkel spatzle and Loz a homemade burger with smoked potatoes. Interestingly the beers were from both the Freising breweries so Weihenstephan and Hofrauhaus Freising, 1-2 on tap from each and further offerings in bottle available, it certainly wasn't an extensive list, and was notably missing some of the big hitters from both breweries, but the beers we had, a couple of Helles from Weihenstephaner for me and Weisse from Hofbrauhaus for Loz were very good on our visit. Service was very good, the place was busy but plenty of space left between different groups. I think that this might be also an interesting place to visit in the summer as I can see from the website that they also have a Biergarten.“
