“Only the Dunkel available during my visit. I had a Schlachtschuessel: bloodsausage, liversausage and fat speck in its own boiling broth, served with sauerkraut. Very rural but great food and good beer. Friendly service. Affordable prices. Outside seating.“

“Nice Biergarten next to the Brauhaus. Brewmaster poured me a nice zwickel. Cheap, except for the bottled oak aged beers to take away. Lovely Bauernplatte as food. Worth a visit if you are touring Franconia.“

“Visited on a Sunday lunchtime Sept '17. Every table inside was either occupied or reserved, and the tables outside quickly became occupied too. Beer was decent, and since the walk from Reckendorf rail station takes about one hour, I could easily have drunk several in the early autumn sunshine.“

“I visited twice in the same week, once while spending a day sampling a number of area breweries, and again a few days later with a friend and his family for dinner. Well-light, decorated interior with a central fireplace. The food is mostly cold plates, a step up from Brotzeit. On the first visit I found both the Hell and Dunkel serviceable but not interesting enough to drink more than a short amount. On the second visit, the Hell was showing a strongly unpleasant dirty dish rag aroma with a quiet bite of white vinegar acid.“

“Typical Franconian gasthof experience, it’s a large building located immediately along the main road through Mürsbach. The interior is basic and modestly decorated. the beer is rustic and grist-like and a little husky, and it’s not one I count among my favorites. Food menu seems a step below what you can find elsewhere, with a lot of fried pork and crinkle-cut fries offered.“

“Classic Franconian stube with aged hop vines and krug and plate collection hanging on the wall. There’s a television as well, which looks out of place. Beer isn’t very interesting, filtered red Franken lager, worth trying once but not returning for.“

“Third "brewpub" visited on my walk of Sunday 12.10.14. Arrived about 2.00 p.m. Smallish interior seemed fairly empty, perhaps because hot food was only available until 1.30 pm. Sat at a table in the yard at the side of the building. Was thirsty enough to drink 2 glasses of the only beer on tap the Vollbier Dunkel. Was also able to buy a bottle of the Vollbier Hell to take away. Certainly worth a visit if combined with other similar "brewpubs" in the area.“

“Visited early afternoon Sunday 12.10.14. This was my second stop on the day’s walk about 4 km south of my first stop in Muersbach. Sat outside since it was a sunny & fairly hot afternoon 23-24 Deg C. i.m.o worth a visit if combined with other local "brewpubs" . “

“Visited Sun 12.10.14 late morning. About a 5 km walk from Manndorf Station a request stop on the branch line to Ebern. A few locals already playing cards, drinking, eating. Those arriving to eat were being asked if they had made a reservation, so presumably popular on Sundays at least. Above average bier vom Fass i.m.o“

“Visited on 26 July 2013 at 215pm in the afternoon. I seemed to have missed downender (review below mine) by about 3 hours. I was the only person sitting inside in the pleasant taproom done out in traditional style. There were many others in what must have been the cobbled place where the horse drawn coaches came into this inn in olden days. The Marktplatz on which this place sits is not very big as befits this small town. The carnival had come to town and was setting up. The meal I had, fried half chicken paprika with bread, was very good and astoundingly cheap at €4.10. After the hot walk from the station, the single beer available, Vollbier-Dunkel, seemed quite refreshing. However, this is a beer that grew off me: thinnish, burnt butterscotch, drains, roasty metallic. Could be just a bad brew though, or a bad keg. Give this place a try if you’re in the area and decide for yourself.“

“Visited on 26/7/2013 after catching bus 957 from Mursbach. I arrived immediately after opening time at 1500 and there were already a few people drinking. Service was friendly, with the landlady quickly establishing that her English was better than my German. The one beer brewed on site was very drinkable and my large portion of Jagerschnitzel with fries and salad was tasty and great value. It was straightforward to walk the 5 minutes back to the bus stop and catch the 957 back to Bamberg station. Excellent.“

“Pleasant pub set in the centre of a picturesque largely half-timbered village. service was friendly and the Lagerbier fine. I got there by walking from Freudeneck. Bus 957 passes through the village several times in the afternoon on its way back to Bamberg.“

“Visited on 26 July 2013, after walking from Ebing using some cycle tracks. Pleasant pub with a shady courtyard that was a welcome relief on a hot summer’s day. Service was friendly and the beer good value and enjoyable. Customers were a mix of cyclists, hikers and locals, most of whom were looking to drop off empty mini-kegs and collect new ones.“

“Visited on 26 July 2013 at 10.45 in the morning, when the pub was already busy with cyclists sitting in the courtyard and locals sat around the Stammtisch. A friendly pub in the centre of the village and about a 10 minute walk from the station.“

“about 12 miles north of Bamberg. barn-esque gasthof ambiance. the one beer they make on premises is a dunkel landbier of decent quality but a bit too sweet, a bit too watery and a bit dull..“

“At "Zur Sonne," their tap. Cheerful and friendly place that lives up to its name. Self-serve and has a nice sunny patio with cute carved wooden signs and a sun mural.“

“Simple brewpub in the center of the village with one larger plain and simple tap room and a mainly shadowless "beergarden" at the rear of the building. One - not very exciting - Lager and one Weizen are available. All in all not very exciting.......“

“Located in the hamlet of Freudeneck (north of Bamberg), this farmhouse-brewery offers one rural franconian brew on tap. In summer You can enjoy Your Bier in a little court between the pub and the farm. Unspoilt franconian atmosphere!“
