“First visit here and on a warm early Spring day I suspect that there are few better places than this in Regensburg. Visited Saturday 13th April 2024. It's only ten minutes walk from the Regensburg Hbf but on my previous visits it's a place that has completely passed me by. Wonderful Biergärten, plenty of shading from the large Horse Chestnut trees. It seems to be just waiter service at the moment, but staff super friendly. The Helles is excellent, I am a little ignorant of Kneitinger but looking at the buildings here I suspect that the brewery is here also and located just beyond the Biergarten. It's quiet at the moment but that's understandable as it's only 10:32 but there is one other table with 10-12 older guys sat drinking and chatting and one other solo visitor.“

“Visited here on my own Wednesday 18th October 2023. This is not too far from the centre and can easily be combined with the other breweries in town. It was fairly quiet when I arrived as it was well past the lunchtime crowd, there were probably only 5-6 other people in here. I had decided to visit here last on a route back to the railway station, which it isn't too far from, so it was probably sometime between 2 - 3pm. It was much larger than I expected, had a quite grand feel about it and I would guess would be a nice place to come for an evening meal with your partner. I only had the one beer the Hopfenblume but it was good. Service was also very good, very professional feel about the place, nice place.“

“I visited here yesterday, Wednesday 18th October 2023. As others have mentioned it's located very centrally in the old town, the layout is similar to the München branch, but choice perhaps not quite as good. The lady who was serving was very helpful and friendly despite being busy emptying boxes of newly arrived beer onto shelves. I only picked up a couple of beers as my bag already had five in from Bierkiste and Walther Mai from the previous day. There is a long section on the left, which is mostly German and local beers but with some Belgian offerings, in the middle are a couple of islands with Nittenauer prominent and there is an interesting selection of spirits. I liked it but Nuremberg and Bamberg are still the best Bierotheks in my opinion.“

“Visited here on my own Wednesday 18th October 2023. It's located centrally in town, so only 7-8 mins walk from the train station, there is seating outside but it's a cold day so I am sat inside on a stool looking at the brewing equipment. It's only 10:45 so I am the only person in here. Staff are still polishing windows and tidying up. It's a mid sized place with plenty of seating both on the ground level and there is further seating (and toilets upstairs) they clearly open early from 10:00 I think as they advertise traditional Weißwurst for breakfast. I like it, prices are fair, you can get 300ml servings, staff pleasant.“

“Nice indoor ambiance, small but good selection of Bavarian beers, tasty schweinsleber. Too bad I was a day too early for their Bock bier.“

“Nice well laid out indoor dining area, not a very happy face from the hostess/our waitress. Food was okay but not great, the schweinsbraten wasn't cooked to Bavarian standards...not so crispy skin, and not so deeply cooked meat and fat, and the semmelknüdel was dry inside. Their Asam Bock is world class though. Seems like there are plenty of other better places to eat, but it's an easy enough place to find when you're taking in the Regensburg sights.“

“Visited August 2022. Small craft beer bottle shop in the oldtown. Nice selection of regional and international craft beers. Incredibly nice and well informed staff. Your to-go place in Regensburg. P.S. Currently they sell the Unfiltered Schlenkerla Märzen (special edition), so happy to find that here!“

“Staff professionally handling the rush of customers. The weißbier was not of my liking, nor their "Hanf-Weißbier" where hemp is considered to play an undisclosed role. Equally undiclosed to the brewers seems to be the secret of the generation of a somewhat foamy head on their weißbiers. Perhaps I came across an unfortunate batch. Anyway I had the urge to re-establish my weißbier-taste buds with a Kuchlbauer afterwards.“

“The businesses of Birretta (this bar and a shop) are discontinued. The bar, now called "Beer Dorado", was taken over by people with a more cautious concept: Only 4 of the 18 taps are in service. Nonetheless worth visiting, for me #1 in Regensburg for beer selection and variety. Good regional beers on tap, large offer of bottled beers, national and international craft beers included. Well-informed staff. Pizza and suchlike served.“

“Stopped here for lunch on our way to Bamberg. Seems like a quite large place, but we didn't explore all the rooms. Some tables in inner hallway, but we were seated in the large room to the right. Traditional wooden interior. 5 or 6 beers, quality was very good. Tasty food, I enjoyed my schweinshaxe.“

“We visited here Saturday 3rd August 2019. We were staying at a campsite across the Danube from Bad Abbach and had cycled to Regensburg along the Danube River. Kneitinger is really easy to find, it's just on the western edge of the Altstadt, and for those arriving by train it's about a 15-20 mins walk from the station. It's a large yellow building with the brewery name in green (neon signage I think?) and an impressive floral display in tubs under each window. Inside we spent most of our time in the cool looking glass covered cobbled corridor. There were rooms off of these for dining etc but we didn't venture any further. There were also some modern sturdy looking connecting walkways that spanned this corridor. We stood at a barrel leaner and had a couple of very good beers, a Dunkel and a Helles. The service was quick, friendly appreciative of our efforts at German. I really liked this place and will definitely return. Btw they had a display cabinet near the front of the corridor bar which showed much of the current merchandise that they had available.“

“Schöner Biergarten. Leider war der Service sehr „mürrisch“. War auch frech von uns, dass wir nicht in die geöffnete Ecke im Schatten sitzen wollten, sondern in die Sonne an einen Tisch mit Aussicht... 5-6 Taps, dazu eigene Manufakturbiere aus der Flasche.“

“We visited here Saturday 3rd August 2019. We were staying at a campsite across the Danube from Bad Abbach and had cycled to Regensburg along the Danube River. Spitalgarten is easy to find, it's north of the station and old town about 20 and 15 minutes respectively. This was a lovely pub and Biergarten though I must confess to not checking out the inside as it was sunny and the garden very popular, we watched a three/four piece band (oompah type) sat at their table and practicing a few tunes. The girl serving us was really friendly, chatty and appeared to enjoy her job. I had hoped to try a strong beer that they do (Barrique) as it was on the drinks menu card but alas this was not available, however we still had a couple of decent beers (IPA and Bio-Roggen) that neither of us had, had before. We liked this place and perhaps a return trip in the winter to Regensburg will see me get to suss out the inside.“

“This place, located in the backyard of a property in Stadtamhof, is, well, an epitome of the stereotype of Bavaria. A huge Biergarten, five different beers delivered by corpulent Heidis and Helgas ambling with four one litre mugs in each hand, schnitzel, wurst and pretzel on the menu, and so on. Decent food, actually better than the beer, which ranges from reasonable to mediocre. Popular prices, polite but stern staff and a gemütlich atmosphere on a warm summer's day. Definitely worth a visit. I did not visit the brewery - perhaps another time.“

“Located just off the medieval Stone Bridge, this rather small but very cozy bar and shop is definitely a place to stop by while in town. The selection of bottles in the fridges is impressive and includes a variety of micros, mostly German, but also some well-known beers from Scotland, Belgium and Italy. The staff seem to enjoy rating themselves and are very friendly and helpful. Reasonable prices. Would definitely like to be back one day.“

“Just to the left as you come off the stone bridge back towards the city. This is a great beer shop with lots of German craft, a decent selection of imports (Belgian mostly) and a bunch of local regional German beers. Pretty reasonable prices on Spital's craft line. Much more here that I would like to try and the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and spricht English.“

“Another must visit bar or weather permitting beer garden, the latter has one of the finest views in the world... overlooking medieval Regensburg architecture from across the mighty Danube. The black beer is superb... in bygone eras this brewery supplied a hospital (!) and the black beer was staple on the maternity ward! This place is stooped with culture.“

“I cannot believe I have never rated this fantastic traditional beer garden. I spent many hours, days, weeks, months (!) sat under the horsechestnut trees supping the excellent dunkles... God knows how many gallons I consumed. My first experience of a typical German beer garden, so am quite biased... I vividly remember learning why locals put their beermats on top of the glasses or steine rather than other way round... doh... keeps the wasps out! Nurnberger bratwurstel with sauerkraut soak up the beer well. First couple of times I visited was overshadowed by the now demolished (thanks Paulaner :-)) Thurn und Taxis brewery.“

“Visited 2.10.17, right before closing. A huge, posh place but we were sitting by the bar and served by a patient bartender who didn't mind our questions and check-ins while doing his closing chores. Slightly expensive (compared to Bavaria). 3 beers from tap and a few bottles. I'd say it's a good place to visit if you're already in Regensburg, but not to go out of your way for that, although I DID go out of my way, because they have a beer listed in that stupid dumbfuck 1001 books that I've been following because why not.“

“Visited on a Monday in August 2017, arrived 2215 sober, so any beer was going to taste good. I sat in the long alley way/courtyard/corridor. Several areas off the corridor, one area for eating was closed off. Nice to look at the old display of Regensburg trams. Nice quiet ambiance, but the overhead TVs showing football (St Pauli, double yuk) spoilt the traditional feel, volume at least set to zero. Quickly served when seated. Not on the menu was Sommerbier, but was an advert on table. Beers tried were: Edel Pils 3.5/5 E3.70 for 50cl (E2.90 for 30cl) Sommer 3/5, no gen on price Dunkel Export 3.5/5 E3.70 for 50cl (E2.90 for 30cl) The Bavarian costumes worn by servers seemed to be cheap fake versions you would see in Asia.... Didn’t have any food, only one person eating when I arrived which was admittedly late. Seemed typical traditional German food, one token veg dish was Kasespatzle E9.80. While beer prices seemed fair, seemed above average for food, but as didn’t try can’t comment on quality or value for money. Restaurant lights out at 2250. Sadly the locals started showing videos on phones at 2300 ruining the ambiance. I would return, beers slightly above average in a good environment.“

“Really nice location in the center of the lovely Old Town and about 15 minutes walking distance from the train station. "Clean, clean, clean" is what always pops into my head when reflecting on my experience here. Of the three beers that were available (e.g., Edel-Pils, Dunkel, Dunkler Bock), I can say confidently that all were extraordinarily impeccably brewed, ranging from the mid-to-upper 3s, respectively. The city’s most popular brewery for good reason. “
