“On a Friday night with Nordcore. Very busy inside and outside. But short wait to get drinks, almost before we even sat down… Tried their two available beers on tap, which were decent. Not a very relaxing atmosphere, but glad I stopped by.“

“Great selection of German and also good selection of international beers. I was here for new German breweries and I found lots of new ones. Website seems generally up to date on what’s available in the shop. Lots of parking outside and prices are very good.“

“Legendary beer Mecca in Pfungstadt! Range of German and international beers here is amazing. Bamberg smoked beers, a gose beer from Leipzig or Kölsch from Cologne? Nigerian Guinness or a traditional English pale ale? You'll find it all and more on their shelves. Commercial big hitters or craft beers, you'll get it here. Prices absolutely reasonable! They also have a reduced section for beers going out of date where you can find some random treasures sometimes. Very easy to spend an hour here browsing. Also good range of crisps/chips from Spain, UK etc by the check outs. Highly recommended. I've never been in a better beer supermarket that covers such a variety of beers!“

“We visited late at night, there was still quite a bit going on. Very limited selection of beers but that seemed to have been besides the point for the majority of the patrons. Down to earth. Service was very slow but we didn't expect much more late in a busy evening.“

“Solid traditional German brewery, nice open top fermenters downstairs, so a brewery tour definitely is worth the coordination effort. At the time of our visit there were 7 beers (incl. 1 non-alcoholic) on offer, so definitely more than expected from a traditional German brew house. Down to earth feeling, not overrun, good food. All in all a very nice experience.“

“An excellent place in Darmstadt very near the highway. The best getrankemart I've seen, lot of German beer in box as usual but also a kind of reminder with all singles beer to speed tu the collection. So usual but also rare German beers plus a huge number of international beers, very nice place.“

“Been here couple of times over the last two years, always good to stock up on some beers and find new ticks. 3mins off the Autobahn. Parking right infront. Huge drinks shop. To the right is alcoholfree stuff, juices and so on, but also some cider, applewines. Straight on is a liquor selection, with some very expensive bottles of e.g. whisky. To the left a huge beer selection. First two rows of craft, mostly german, a few belgians. Next two rows are all the single bottles of beers available in crates. Those are mostly Germans, many Bavarians. On the left wall are international beers sorted by countries, good ofr some country ticks, but double check with exotic countries as those are the license brewed shitty beers from Haus der Biere. All in all a great shop, worth a visit if in the area. Last time I left with ~40 bottles paying 75€.“

“Certainly the most impressive selection anywhere in the Rhein/Main area. Particularly strong with German craft, Belgian, and misc. other European. Not a huge amount from North America but instead a quirky list of obscure international brews ranging from Namibia and Mauritius to the Faroe Islands. Very helpfully sorted by land and Bundesland. If your looking to wrap up your Bundesländer ticks or pad out the the country list then this is the place to go. Service was okay although the lines got long on a Saturday. Good value overall. UPDATE: if you’re looking for country ticks be sure to carefully read the label on the bottle. A number of the beers listed as being from Third World lands are actually brewed under license here in Europe. Got burned by this myself with a few bottles.“

“Th quote from rickyholden "Nice girls do not make a good beer pub." says it all. This is popular pub amongst locals espcially football fans. Many taps but all with the typical german macros. Only 2 local Helles. Not really worth unless you wanna watch football and have some boring beers in a relaxed pub.“

“Great brewery, a short walk out of the city center. Worth to visit. They do offer 4 of their beers on a tasting tray with 100ml pours. One seasonal Bock aswell when I was there. Good service, nice welcoming atmosphere, almost only locals. Good place for good beers.“

“Not really sure yet what value this place has for RBs place section. I was there on a Friday night and it was really packed with young people. Seemed more like a club than a bar. Many rooms, loud music, table soccers. From what I found out it is one of the oldest buidlings in the center of Darmstadt and was earlier connected to a private brewery called Wiener Kronenbräu. Their pils is still on the menu but I couldnt find any information where its brewed. I will go back when its less crowded to find out.“

“Visited on a Friday night. Very quiet, just two people in the front room. Sat down at the bar. Good service, got some snacks alongside my beer. Place is very modern and wants to be a bit more highend, classy bar like. Loads of whiskys, even cigars on the menu. Many bottled German and international craft, no taps. Quite a few beers from local brewery Brewers Fantasy. Prices are way to high.“

“Giant store with lots and lots of beers (local, national, international). The prices are very fair as well, so bring a car or a large bag (however, a car is probably best, since it is not very convenient to get there). Very nice shop, that I recommend if you can transport large quantities of beer.“

“Located right near the Eberstadt train Station, very easy to get to by public transport (good luck carrying the beer on the train though ;) ). Absolutely Huge place with a great Selection. I went there twice, and both times they were out of Stock in some beers, so don’t go too late in the Evening! Shelfs full of german Beers and one wall with international Beers from all over the World. Really nice UK collection, decent Belgian one and many obscure countries with one or two beers. Prices are pretty good, especially on german Beers, but can reach up to 5 Euros for Japanese or similar rare beers. One of the best places to buy beer. Probably the Best in Hesse!“

“Visited on a Wednesday night. Quite quiet when I visited, located very close to Darmstadt’s city center so easy to get to on foot if you’re there. Very modern beer bar that has almost everything you’d expect from an American craft beer bar and nothing of a typical German brewhouse. I say almost because the biggest miss of this place is the complete lack of beer on tap. They have a very interesting selection of German micro-brews and some standard international ones but it is all only available bottled. This being said, the selection is quite interesting and the prices aren’t bad at all (although expect to pay more than for your typical 0.5l of helles at a brewery). The service was quite good, staff was knowledgeable and friendly/willing to help. They also have a nice selection of spirits with some good classic malts and several interesting gins. No food. Will return, and definitely worth a visit if you’re in town.“

“6 beers on tap, some nice variations including a bottled IPA and a seasonal stout on tap (very crafty by German standards). Visited on a Tuesday night, directly across the platz from Darmstadt’s main train station so you can’t miss it. Probably one of the most worthy places in town, certainly one of the best effort/value ratios. Food was quite alright, fresh and tasty German pub food. Several beers available, english menus, tasters, basically a tickers dream in Germany. The quality is quite alright if a bit mainstream. Service was fine and the value was quite good as well. Will certainly return on my business trips.“

“Visited on a Sunday afternoon. Quiet German pub, looks new-ish, full menu of traditional German pub food with all the regular beers from Braustüb’l available on tap (Zwickl, Pils, Weissbier, etc.) This place has more lax opening hours than the brewery and is conveniently located in the city center. Prices are comparable to other in town offerings. Service was good, was served in english. They have a small biergarten and free wifi. Not a stellar location but a worthy beer stop.“

“Visited on a Monday evening. Old German pub interior, reeks of German food and cigarettes, large tables for many lonely strangers to sit across each other. 3 beers on tap, the export helles, weissbier and dunkel. Prices are quite cheap and service was efficient. Beers were decent. Definitely worth a visit if in town.“

“Repeated drive-through visits 2011-2014, 1/3 of our Autobahn trek up north. Giant Getränkemarkt with international beer focus that has been continually developping its range mirroring the broadening German beer scene, displaying a cross section of the most idiosyncratic regional classics (full range of Schneider Weisse incl. TAP 4 & 5, Thurn & Taxis Roggen, Franconian classics, Saxonian Schwarzbiere) as well as a steadily growing selection of new additions ranging from local up&coming Braukunstkeller, Hopfenstopfer, now Ratsherrn and Kuehn Kunz Rosen. Growing international offers of US and UK craft classics and offbeat country ticks (Congo, Mongolia) side by side with silly novelty beers contracted by DE or BE breweries. - Steep prices for many Be imports compared to UK classics like Fuller’s. 2014 was the first time I noticed some Girardin and 3F here, at triple the original retail price. No real beer-savvy customer service on the site to speak of, but cashiers are very dapper and swift and obviously trained to check several mixed cases. Small regional cider selection. Always received availability info by email within 24hrs. Hands-on no-nonsense Pfandabteilung/return service for empties.“

“Huge getränkemarkt with an enormous selection of mostly German beers from Hesse and surroundings. They have an international selection as well, where country ticks can be found, but there was nothing new for me. Since the focus of course is on German beers, the selection could use a bit more variety in terms of beer styles, and some better beers as well, but that is to be expected. No service to speak of, but then again I didn’t need service. Prices are perhaps a bit higher than normal getränkemarkts, but the selection more than makes up for that, and for a Dane anywhere in Germany is cheap. I would surely visit again to restock if I was to find myself on the autobahn close by.“

“Visited on a sunny July evening. Huge biergarten, 1300 seats says the website and I believe it. They claim to be a bavarian beer garden, and although not in Bavaria they really try hard to be as authentic as possible - in my albeit limited experience I believe they succeed. The whole garden is shaded by chestnut trees and there is a lot of space for everyone. The beers come from hutthurmer and the quality is good - pils is served in a ceramic mug, and weissebier in a weizen glass. The food was tasty (a bit pricy but good quality classic german stuff). I had a veal schnitzel with sauteed mushrooms and roasted potatoes. Quite average as a beer place but a nice place to enjoy the summer if in Darmstadt.“

“My standard shop if I have to buy new beer. Overwhelming assortment of beers from all over the world, I bought my very first Lambic here (it was worth the money). You want an IPA? No problem. Beer from the Kongo? Also no problem. Wide assortment of beers from the UK and USA? Holy grail, yes! On christmas they even had Belgian Xmas Bocks and beer advent calenders. But they also regularly stock new german craft beers and seasonal beers.“

“Like a moron, I’ve been working 20 minutes from this place for 2+ years (it’s on the way home, etc) but did not go until recently as my beer stash from other EU countries (read: Belgium) was simply too big. I decided to go prior to Xmas to pick up loads of Bocks and Winter beers. Needless to say, I was blown away. The place is large, well laid out and has a massive selection. Name the brewery, and they likely have every variation. Prices are low...most bottles I bought (I bought 50+) were around the 1 Euro mark +/-0.50. I often have colleagues or friends who want to bring back unique beers from Germany on a visit. This is a straight shot and about 30 minutes from Frankfurt airport...take them here and they will not be disappointed. Also, they do have a nice selection of beers from other countries and I can get my IPA fix here as they carry Sierra Nevada, Firestone, etc. They have nice wines and liquors too. Lastly, they even help you load the beer into your car...in Germany, this type of service is not a given. Have your ratebeer app ready on your phone and enjoy spending an hour loading your cart with cool "rarities" not found in such abundance anywhere else! It’s one of the top bottle shops I’ve ever been to globally.“

“Visited this brew-restaurant on 3.2.2014. Located in the centre of Darmstadt in a nice old building on the market place. They are serving German food (mediocre quality) and have 4-5 beers on tap brewed in their own golden brewhouse. Like the Helles and also the Weissbier is quite good. Restaurant is big, if you come only for a beer, sit on the nice small bar. Overall I recommend this place if you are visiting Darmstadt.“
