64 /100 Brauhaus Zum Rammelsberg (Bar) RAMMELSBERGSTRASSE 4 Nice brewhouse, favorite place in Kassel, own brew, good local food. |
44 /100 Solino (Restaurant) WILHELMSHÖHER ALLEE 91 A good place to go for cheap eats. Beer selection is only standard German macros, food is good if you avoid the much too oily pasta. |
76 /100 KASTENALSGASSE 8 Two taps, of which one consistently is the brewery’s own, quite high quality IPA. Decent bottle selection, mainly of German and Belgian traditional ales. The room is small with lots of untreated-looking wood, but the small size gives a certain intimacy. Definitely the best kneipe in Kassel whenever it is open! |
Absoluter Pflichtbesuch in Kassel! |
62 /100 KONRAD-ADENAUER-STRASSE 117B Located on the outskirts of Bad Wilmelshöhe, close to the Habichts Forest and the 80 exit on the A44, this restaurant with its own brewery is probably the only place in town to enjoy locally brewed beer. The selection includes the two own brews: the Naturtrübes Hefeweizen and the Dunkel. Both are reasonable. The staff are very friendly. I did not try the food. Reasonable prices. An okay place for a pit stop if you are passing by Kassel. |
38 /100 Solino (Restaurant) WILHELMSHÖHER ALLEE 91 Located by a busy road in the Wilhelmshöhe district, this is just a restaurant. It happens to have four taps, three of which feature German macros, the fourth one Guinness. This, combined with a similar choice of bottled beer can hardly make it worth a pilgrimage for beer conscious clientel. The staff are polite, however, and the food and the price level are decent, tioo. Well, just an ordinary place. I don’t know about the rest of the city but I assume there is a reason why this place is on RB. |
62 /100 KONRAD-ADENAUER-STRASSE 117B Lost in a residential area in the suburbs; extra small bar, it reminds me of the Schwarzwald style. No English spoken, yet friendly service. Only two brewed beers, the Dunkel is nice, the Naturtrüb is well above average. With many beers and many schnaps (extra cheap) I had a great time! |
56 /100 Gabriels Boddel-Shop (Beer Store) BÜHLCHENWEG 14 Always difficult to rate a shop in the middle of Germany’s outback (in terms of culture & beer)! You wouldn’t take special notice of this "Boddel-Shop" if it were somewhere in Bavaria, but for the region of Northern Hesse it might constitute the peak of all beer stores. They stock the fantastic Karg hefeweizens, "Spezial" and "Helles" by Herzoglich Bayerisches Brauhaus Tegernsee, many of the always-ingenious varieties of Pyraser (including their limited seasonals), and some more gems of Franconian and Bavarian art of brewing. Not easy to find in a small residential street in one of Kassel’s suburbs but close to exit "Kassel-Bad Wilhelmshöhe" (highway A44). |
