“Visited with kermis on the way back from Denmark. Took us a while to find the place. It’s located in the old town centre in a rather small street with a small open space / square in front of it. The inside was more modern than we had expected. But then again we expected to find pirates everywhere which might not have been very realistic. At the time we were there a very annoying choir was making noise outside but I still managed to enjoy my meal. A nice "haxe" just the way the old pirates would have made it. And tried their beers on the side. Initially thought the helles was going to be the best, but I guess the old pirates (not the Somali ones, they’re no fun, the normal ones) liked weizen better and I have to agree with them. Too bad they had no special on tap. The pirates probably took that aboard their ship. Too bad, but I forgive them because they are pretty cool lads.“

“When visiting here with Benzai (who had sadly stopped rating this year), we were expecting and strongly anticipating a pirate theme to the Brauhaus. Sadly, this turned out not to be the case upon arrival, so I was forced to imagine it instead. We boarded the Brauhaus to shouts of "Ahoy!" while a raucous bunch of scurvy dogs yelled "Arrr, Arrgh, Yarr, Gar!" over by the bar, taking great pleasure in a big chest of gold. Shiver me timbers, I thought and headed for some grog (of which they had 4 taps with 3 on). After receiving my tankard of ale a parrot joined me on my shoulder and we set sail to a small desert island. Here we promptly buried the beers under a large X as seemed tradition. At this point Benzai yelled "Weigh anchor!", so with a "Yo-ho-ho" we promptly buggered off. I was pleased my imagination veered towards old fashioned pirates rather than Somalian pirates as they’re way more fun.“

“The only option for Buxtehude. 4 beers on tap when there: helles, dunkel, weizen and ipa. I tried the helles and the ipa, nothing special and prices slightly higher than other German homebreweries. Does not worth a detour“

“Located in the very heart of the charming Old Town, in the building that used to be the town hall, this newly opened place has apparently taken over the beer initiative in Buxtehude since the former brewery was closed down two years ago. The brewer seems to have high ambitions, as five different beers, including an IPA, are on the menu. However, only the helles and the dunkel are on permanent offer as yet. I had the dunkel and it was definitely acceptable. I did not try the food - perhaps next time. Friendly and polite staff. Reasonable prices. Will gladly be back again.“
