“High quality core range beers and interesting limited releases. Prices are above average (30$ for a tasting paddle with 6 beers). Wide selection of amazing pub food. Given the cozy ambiance and helpful staff, definitely worth a trip up to the northern beaches.“

“Really nice place with 8 beers on tap, available for sampling in paddles (6 for $25 -- stupid pricing, but standard for here). Beer quality is definitely above average with a few excellent ones. Place itself is set up nicely, with a top floor that has extra seating. Definitely worth a trip up this way if you can make it.“

“Visited on 7th April 2016. Got the bus back from Nomad to the shopping centre. It’s quite an odd location behind a shopping mall. The venue is large with outdoor and indoor seating with a large brewery out the back. Seem to be keen to play metal which isn’t my thing but seemed to be inkeeping of the vibe. Staff were friendly. Sampled all the range via the tasting flights. They are a little expensive but worth it. Beer was pretty good. It’s worth making the effort to get out there.“

“Wedged between a mall and an alleyway is this neat little two storey brewpub that makes good quality beers, my favorite being the coffee lager made with the beans roasted down the street at Coffee Brothers. They played metal when we were there. The place is huge and can house a lot of people, we were there in the daytime so only a few other people drinking. Mona Vale is a lovely northern beaches suburb, makes for a superb day trip from Sydney. Have a Coffee Brothers and then head over here for the beer and then go to the beach, and then repeat :)“

“Tucked in an awkward location in behind a shopping centre, Modus Operandi is a full scale pub and brewery. When we walked in they were playing Wo Fat, and then they went on a run of Om songs, including On the Mountain at Dawn, so this was definitely a brewery after my heart. The beer was list fairly long and varied. The ones we had were very good.

They do get marks off for not offering substitutions on the sample tray - if you’ve had one or two of their beers in Sydney you won’t get value from the board because it’s just the regulars.

Also, and this a general tip to all businesses. If you have Wifi for the staff but aren’t going to make this public, don’t put your business name on it. It’s kind of an insult to the customer when they see a network called "Modus Operandi" only to be told that you as a customer are not good enough to get access to it. Just give it an anonymous name - the staff will know the name anyway, right. Then, people just think you don’t have wifi, which is better than knowing that you do but you won’t let them on it.

Overall, it’s a good spot, and the only brewery up this far north on the beaches, or anywhere near Ku-Ring-Gai park. As one of the better breweries in Sydney, you definitely want to come up here.“

“The ’decor’ and atmosphere reminded me of Brothers Beer in Auckland and the Bermondsey set-up in London: industrial, informal, pieced-together. There are two floors but with barely enough seating to accommodate everyone during peak periods so lots of people stand outside. Live music/DJs quite often are a feature so can be too noisy if a chat and a drink with friends was your intention but the vibe is good and family-friendly. Service leaves a fair amount to be desired, however, as it can be quite short and sharp. Not ’cheap’ but fair value and in-keeping with Sydney. Half pints are usually just c. $2 cheaper than a pint so keen tickers should head for the $25, 6-beer tasting paddle. One-offs and seasonals available. No ciders and only a limited wine range available; the focus is quite clearly on their own produce. Takeaway cans and growlers for sale too. You’ll not find anything else like it for miles if you want good beer without frills.“

“Only a month old and already ahead of the curve for Australia. More of a small US brew pup than Australian. Has that surfer vibe that Mona Vale has. Service is friendly and fast. Very good knowledge of the beers and can make good suggestions. Just their own beers. Have had all but the cream ale at this point. Does do some one off’s and did have a been in Lark Barrels when was there. Had 2 Saison’s and 2 IPA’s. Not a golden ale in sight. Nice Food is good though getting it can be a bit slow. Good cheese plates and solid pizza’s. Worth visiting and will be doing more in the future. One of the best new places for beer in Sydney currently. Parking can get dicey. Best to park in the shopping center lot or at the Mona Vale Pub as not a lot of parking to be had“
