72 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE Brew Pub. Eigene und fremde Biere. |
70 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Lovely spot and a must visit if you are in Fremantle. |
64 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Bar attached to brewery, with brewing kit in view. The ambience is thus a bit odd, in that it isn’t exactly cozy, but it is very much about beer, there’s also a lot of merchandise on sale. The staff were very pleasant. I didn’t try the food. They had about 10 beers on tap, all their own, and as you might expect it was on top form. The sampling option was great value for money at $12. |
84 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Dropped in to grab The Dreadnought, had a couple of Elsie’s and chips, good food, beer and service, will have to go back for second review and a few more ales. |
80 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Visited May 2015. Huge brewery building a little south of Fremantle, but an easy wlak down here. Its splitteed in a huge restaurant area next to the tanks and a smaller taproom. They do offer brewery tours, I did one and it was good. The tour itself was very basic with a couple of words about their history and how beer is brewed but afterwards we got offered several of their beers to sample in the taproom. Recommended to visit. |
64 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE Modern place on the main street through Fremantle. Great outdoor sitting area despite being at the street. Good fries and good beer. I recommend to visit. |
54 /100 42 PORT BEACH ROAD Stopped here on the 15th May 2015 on a bicycle trip. Was about afternoon. They were setting up for some event. Was almost empty and I had to search soemone to serve a beer. The location is right on the beach, so amazing to sit outside. Had one beer from tap which was decent. As I checked their website today it seems to be closed. |
80 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Very good ambiance. Food is awsome . good service . |
90 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Brauhaus direkt an der Uferpromenade. 100m bis zum Stadtstrand. Hervorragendes kreatives Essen. Kanguru Satee Spiese und Holzofenpizza mit Kürbis. Dazu ca 10 Biere vom Fass. 2 Specials. Mann sitzt direkt in der Brauerei zwischen Tanks und Geräten. Abends steppt der Bär... |
88 /100 Sail and Anchor (Bar) 64 SOUTH TERRACE Schöner alter Pub mit geschmiedeten Balkonen. |
80 /100 Sail and Anchor (Bar) 64 SOUTH TERRACE Good range across 27 taps. Some quaffers but most local craft. Location is key. |
74 /100 40 MEWS ROAD For the beer lover this is a must if you travel to Fremantle. |
58 /100 40 MEWS ROAD World class venue. poor range. Is One seasonal for a brewery that size?? It was meh.
Food was good, service was spotty . Tasting room was excellent but still only one seasonal? Disappointing as should be a world class venue with some creative beers on tap besides core range |
78 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE Right on the strip in Fremantle. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Flights also available. Most of the beers above par. Food good also. Skip Little Creatures and go here instead. |
64 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Brewery taproom /restaurant with a beach vibe. Nice views of the harbor from the outside deck, but selections are limited to Little Creatures products. Did not eat here, not much else in the neighborhood, except marinas |
48 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Was visiting couple years ago - back then it was really nice place. Liked their brews. |
76 /100 Norfolk Hotel (Bar) 47 SOUTH TERRACE (CNR NORFOLK ST) The best pub in freo hands down. Awesome rotating taps and always some very solid local choices on. The food is great and it’s always bustling. Aweosme venue |
84 /100 Old Bridge Cellars (Beer Store) 221 QUEEN VICTORIA ST, NORTH FREMANTLE Family owned craft beer and fine wine store . Great staff, good range and friendly advice. amazing cheeses, cacciatore, chorizo, hand made ice-cream . come on down!!! |
70 /100 Public & Co (Restaurant) 25 DOURO ROAD, SOUTH FREMANTLE Decided to go here for dinner as I was just about to move out and was currently living down the road. Fairly lit up place with a large room for dining and a cool little patio type area which is outside but still under cover. The food was great. Nice varied choices and some really good flavours. Tapas style. Had some teething issues with service but it’s fairly new and they sorted things quickly so I’m not too bothered. Beer selection is definitely one of the better choices as far as on premise goes around Perth. The taps were fairly local orientated with Feral and Old Coast Rd stuff on offer as well as a cider. Bottles were nicely set up on the menu in their individual styles. For people after old/rare stuff, they still have around 6 vintages of Brewdog’s Abstrakt series which is pretty cool. The oldest one they had was number 3 and for $60 I thought that was fairly reasonable for a restaurant considering they are around $45 in bottle shops (or at least those vintages were). Nice local selection as well as some well thought out imports. A good place for a feed and some decent beer. Pity it’s in an odd location |
64 /100 Norfolk Hotel (Bar) 47 SOUTH TERRACE (CNR NORFOLK ST) Dan Bilzerian? Haha. Cute. |
56 /100 Freo Doctor bottle shop (Beer Store) 27 ARUNDLE ST Not a bad range, however as mentioned some extremely old stock. Service has been hit and miss, the older guys have been friendly but the younger bloke in there has a bit of attitude. Pretty pricey too. |
84 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE Great place with south / Central American feel / theme. Nice open and overhead areas. Seemed to be mainly a restaurant, at least when I was here on a Sunday morning. Very friendly and helpful staff. A really interesting choice if food (for breakfast) and what I had was superb. |
80 /100 Clancys Fish Pub (Bar) 51 CANTONMENT STREET Awesome little joint. Good live music, killer food and a solid beer selection. Unfortunately, some of the beer prices were a little high but aside from that, I love this place! |
80 /100 Old Bridge Cellars (Beer Store) 221 QUEEN VICTORIA ST, NORTH FREMANTLE Homely little bottle shop in North Fremantle. Set up as a standard bottle’o, but head to the back fridge and surprise yourself with a well stocked craft fridge. To Ol, Mikkeller, Buxton, Sierra Nevada, Yeastie Boys and a bunch of others squeezed into a cosy fridge full of goodies. Not much space to work with, but what they’ve filled it with is killer. This place also escapes a lot of the ’dickheadery’ experienced at a lot of other craftbeer shops in Australia. Ask to talk to Max, the craft beer man of the shop! |
76 /100 Norfolk Hotel (Bar) 47 SOUTH TERRACE (CNR NORFOLK ST) Just outside of the cafe strip in Freo. This place is always pumping. Good tap selection, they usually get some pretty good stuff on draught which helps them keep up with Sail’s selection. Well worth a visit. Most recently I think this place has overtaken Sail with their service, pricing and consistently good selection |
54 /100 Sail and Anchor (Bar) 64 SOUTH TERRACE remember when I first came here early last year this place had amazing selection of beers all the time....now its just standard craft with the odd rare beer on here and there. prices gone up and Im not really enticed to come here anymore unfortunately |
60 /100 Sail and Anchor (Bar) 64 SOUTH TERRACE Sail doesnt have the best atmosphere. Quite a ’big pub’ feel to it. Service can be very hit and miss. What it lacks in ambiance and service, it makes up for in beer selection. Selection can be quite hit and miss at times, but every now and then you will be there and they will have insane beers to choose from. They also age kegs which is nice that they have the ability to do that. Fingers crossed you are there on a good selection night |
66 /100 Clancys Fish Pub (Bar) 51 CANTONMENT STREET Casual sort of place, the staff seem a little short, but maybe opening time id not the ideal time to judge. Good selection of food and pretty good, but it on the pricier side. Outdoor areas and loungy inside. Board of beers could do with prices, but a good selection of mainly WA and brews, along with various bottles. Good music although not live when l visited Friday midday. |
70 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE 1-Aug-13, Nice casual freindly feel, mix of electro south americano reggae jazz music, good food selection with specials most weekdays. Came hear about a year ago and staff were accomodating to our kids. This time around by myself, staff were personable and attentative. Had the Chief for IPAday, Rauch beer to go with Latino pizza and then The Bounty for the Tallships that are in Freo. |
68 /100 Norfolk Hotel (Bar) 47 SOUTH TERRACE (CNR NORFOLK ST) Nice vibe, more relaxed than the Sail & Anchor etc on the cafe strip. Decent tap selection. |
76 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE I choose this place any day of the week over little creatures. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and a better range than their rivals down the road. Try to swing in every couple of weeks. |
54 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Used to be good, then they were bought out by Lions. Inconsistent food, staff with attitude, dickhead security and a small selection of beer. Used to go down once or twice a week, don’t bother even once a month anymore. |
78 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE Love the location of this joint. Seating in or out. Had amazing food recently at the Stone’s dinner but since the chef has gone to Feral the food has become less ’beer orientated’ which was part of the amusement I suppose. Great US beers on show during the US craft beer week and Steph was fantastic to deal with throughout the time. The Rauch is one worth trying if you’re there for the Monk’s beers. Nice place.
Since Paul has taken over as the head brewer, their beer range has vastly improved and continues to do so. Great stuff |
66 /100 40 MEWS ROAD One of the biggest bars in Asia apparently, serving up to 1,000 customers. Really three locations in one, with the busy main hall, quieter tasting room, and Loft around back with the best views. Good food, some items a bit pricey. Take a tour if you want as they offer them all the time. Only disappointment is the limited range (LC and White Rabbit) and a lack of single batch on tap. |
64 /100 Freo Doctor bottle shop (Beer Store) 27 ARUNDLE ST The only Freo bottle shop with a wide range a beer. Prices are higher than IBS in Perth. Chimay Blue75cl/$19, Bomber of Heretic $19-21, Rogue $16-17. Lots are refrigerated, but perhaps half are not. Half the shop is dedicated to wine. Staff seemed knowledgeable from what I overheard. |
72 /100 Norfolk Hotel (Bar) 47 SOUTH TERRACE (CNR NORFOLK ST) Went there for a 4 Pines event, where they had 6 of their beers on tap for $10/pint. Looked like a pretty busy place, and only a block from Sail or Monk. A lot of taps (30?), many of which are golden ales or lager, but still there are usually about 5-8 of the more interesting/uncommon guest beers. |
68 /100 Clancys Fish Pub (Bar) 51 CANTONMENT STREET Pretty good pub just outside the heart of freo. Good selection of WA and Aussie craft beer at reasonable prices. Food is pretty good here too. Swan Draught was only normal beer there. Worth a visit |
64 /100 Norfolk Hotel (Bar) 47 SOUTH TERRACE (CNR NORFOLK ST) ’Always packed’ pretty much sums up this place. Good atmosphere - a mixture of upmarket toffs, hipsters, Bohemians and rowdy revellers alike, but finding a seat seems near impossible and if you struggle at that the option of standing at the outside bar could be a death-wish as it is the thoroughfare to the loo’s and kitchen passe! Decent selection, I suppose, covering the spectrum in any way they can. From Strong ales, to Scrumpy to light lager they seem to have at least one of each which is a positive. The menu is kept basic, the pricing a crack to the back pocket that could leave you penniless, but the food is tasty and well made. Don’t get to Fremantle as often as I should, but this sits on the list of must do’s! |
78 /100 Sail and Anchor (Bar) 64 SOUTH TERRACE Stopped in after being away for 5 years and was very impressed by the huge beer list they have now. Had a pint of Feral Hop Hog on the Randal-excellent. It is a busy, noisy bar in the heart of Freo. Too bad Perth doesn’t have one like it. Only improvement would be to have a list of prices...they aren’t too bad, but it would be good to know before you order. |
76 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE On the plus side they have a nice lineup of 8 on a tasting tray, plus some very interesting seasonals the skilled brewers experiment with. Sweet Potato porter and Coconut Stout for example. The Chief IPA is their best, and Rauch also good.
Downside is the food is pricey, and when they are busy in a weekend you may struggle to get it quickly. |
82 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Fantastic food and lightning fast service, when you can figure out who the waiters are.And while the little creatures range is great, would be even better if some crafty beers and some select imports appeared behind the bar. |
72 /100 Sail and Anchor (Bar) 64 SOUTH TERRACE Visited in April 2012. Busy pub, with a crowded bar and more relaxed room at the back. A wide selection of keg beers, with imports from Scandinavia and California, and options from the east coast of Australia as well as WA. Also had one beer available cask conditioned. Service was friendly and brisk and the prices ok. Makes for a good pairing with the Monk. |
76 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE Visited April 2012. Busy place, it was crowded mid afternoon on a Thursday, with attentive table service and a wide selection of beers. I tried the taster tray of eight Monk beers, which was very enjoyable, with the Rauchbier and The Chief being the stand outs. Plays a central part in making Fremantle a great beer venue. |
80 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE I frequent this one. Many a messy afternoon spent here, peoplewatching and generally getting rowdy. One of the very few breweries I’ve been that I haven’t rated a single offering. Must make more of an effort to get the notebook out as their Rauchbier is one of my all-time favourites. Fairly simple menu, but adequate and tasty, with the odd dish being cooked outside in the al fresco. When the Paella pan comes out I come a running. Well set-out. Central bar with excellent service offered by the hipster staff. The house beers are fantastic, but with the option of a good Aussie micro or US craft beer, it just ticks even more boxes. Recommended! |
72 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Great location. Great beers. Great building.
Gets very busy now but is a great place to stake out a section of table and spend an afternoon. Only has their own beers but I really like them so that is fine. Food is excellent but pricey, you can always get woodfired pizza. The staff dress more casually than the customers. |
88 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE As well as having there own range of beer they also serve a large selection of NZ/Aus/US craft beer which was great to see. The food was ok with no complaints and i cant wait to go again. |
48 /100 Freo Doctor bottle shop (Beer Store) 27 ARUNDLE ST Quirky freo store, with grungy staff,
large selection but many unrefrigerated and out of date, prices often 20% high than competitors
they have a monthy beer club
shop needs major refit to be great beer venue |
74 /100 42 PORT BEACH ROAD ’Out of control’ was what I first thought walking into this beachside surf-shack of a gastropub, but then the charm set in. The set-up is strange, the main bar is where you order drinks but don’t get served. Back at the table, the fast moving drinks runners scurry back and forth, while bartenders pour endless pints of their own brews. A little system, a Braumeister type set-up sees only two hundred litres of each batch brewed at a time, so the turnover of kegs saw their delicious ’Original’ pulled off the taps on my visit, spew! Have to wait ’til its next on tap. Food was excellent, I did doubt it when I saw so many kids running back and forth, but the meals were wonderfully prepared and a step away from the usual pub grub. An al fresco type main beer garden with plenty of seating on benches, tables and lounge settings. A playground in back to keep the kiddies entertained whilst live music, and adults only parties are held often. A surprisingly good but chaotic pub. |
52 /100 40 MEWS ROAD Great place.. fun atmosphere.. Alot of hype over a small selection of brews.. |
56 /100 33 SOUTH TERRACE loved the US craft beer week..Great food.. |
