| 66 /100 Taverne La Régence (Restaurant) RUE DE MONS 4 “Head nod to Tim Webb’s book for helping us find this one. It’s a small, narrow, town-square restaurant about 45 minutes drive from Brussels. The beer list was somewhat disappointing at first--plenty of usual suspects--but there were some notable exceptions: St. Fueillien blonde and brune, Moinette blonde, Girardin, and draught La Chouffe. (I was hoping for a bottle of Saison Dupont, but no luck.) Populating the menu was an assortment of interesting regional dishes, heavy on the seafood, all around 10 euro each. My Girardin black label gueuze awesomely reinforced a tart, citrusy escaveche dish. Wife had a pork chop drowned in a rich Hollandaise-like sauce, washing it down with La Chouffe. Not a place to search for new beers, just a damn fine lunch.“ |
