“This is by far the best liquor store in the Northwest suburbs! The folks who own and operate the business are wonderful people. If there is something that they don’t have in stock, they will do their best to order it or start carrying it. They recently added Brewery Vivant to their shelves...making me a very happy customer!“

“Besides Binny’s Geno’s offers the largest selection of craft beer in the area by far. And Despite the somewhat smaller selection, Geno’s does offer a few beers that you might not find at Binny’s. It’s a small shop with a bit more ambiance than your typical liquor store. The craft beer selection consists of an isle about 15’ in length with import bombers and packs on one side, and domestic packs on the other. There’s also a few displays in the middle of the isle with bombers on display. Price wise things are about what you’d expect though some brews are marked up a couple bucks compared to other shops in the area. The pricing is still better than the Schaumburg Binny’s by a mile. Service wise they are extremely friendly and eager to please their customers. My only complaint being that I wished they offered singles for sale. Definitely a place to stop if your a beer geek in the area.“

“The Elgin Public House does not make their own beer, but their website promised a good selection of bottled beer and scotch along with better than average pub grub. As is usual for me, I visited this establishment on a Saturday afternoon. I parked across the street in a free parking garage. As we walked in it was pretty empty and we had our choice of seating. We chose to sit at a table in the small bar area. The decor was just what we like with a minimum amount of TVs and plenty of dark wood. Nothing too fancy. There was music playing at a reasonable volume that still allowed us to converse. The bartender/waiter arrived promptly with menus. I started with an Aberlour scotch on the rocks and my wife had a Victory Golden Monkey. The beer was served ice cold, but that can be resolved with a little waiting. The scotch was a new find for me and it was delicious. After our first drink, we ordered food. The bucket of bones (ribs) was tasty. The "filet" steak sandwich was a little tough, but tasty. Both meals were served in small buckets. I wasn’t particularly fond of this presentation. Another round of beers and we were feeling full and happy. Overall I enjoyed the Elgin Public House and I will definitely be back. “

“The best selection in the area... Micros were center-stage once past the door, which was a promising sign. Founders Breakfast Stout was displayed on a barrel-shaped shelf, and some other cases on the floor. Craft beer is a clear priority, based on the layout of the store, and the numerous descriptive tags under many beers on the shelves. There was a Southern Tier island rack loaded with tons of bombers. Further down a bigger center island was chock full of limited Allagash 750’s and FFF bombers. On the right side micro shelf, DFH, Dark Horse, Goose, Capital, America’s, Founders, and many more. On the left, long shelves filled with many import singles. All kinds of English (Fullers Vintage ’05), Polish (Okocim Palone), German (Schneider, old Mahr’s Weisse), and some Belgians (Rochefort 8, Lindemans). For the area this was a staggering selection. Not quite to Binny’s /Sam’s magnitude, but still an extensive selection. Not much craft in the coolers, mostly swill in the back coolers under some wooden shingles. A couple upright coolers held a few random imports. Veering off to the right from the coolers, it was a no man’s land, save for a lonely rack of old singles containing autographed pizza beers and last years pumpkin beer. Caveat emptor on certain shelf items, there was some dusty stuff. The micros seemed to move faster than imports. Pricing on some things were slightly high, Matilda for $13 for example, and Kapsreiter Landbier for $7.29... Take the McLean exit off highway 20, take a left past the first light at the strip mall, it’s halfway down.“

“Added this as a restaurant, since they offer a full menu, and started doing Sunday brunch. The main draw is the bottled beer list, which was 50/50 craft to import. Mainly your quality standby crafts such as Alpha King, Left Hand Milk Stout, Lagunitas Maximus, and others. Also Rochefort (half price on Sunday). The list is online, and current give or take a few. Sadly there was nothing good on tap, just 312, Miller Lite, Guinness. For lunch I had a rueben, which was a generous portion and very tasty. Service was quick but routine, never had to wait long for a beer, and 3 different beers were served in the right glassware. There were a couple tv’s and a projection screen in the back for football sunday. The decor was a little mismatched, but it was alright overall. Not much else in the area for beer, so check it out if local or passing through. “
