“Seems like I never rated this place before, that's weird!! Anyway, what a nice hidden gem in the West-Flemish polders! No new ticks for me (obviously), but a very nice beer selection that was excellent for beer pairing with the typical Flemish food on the menu! Price quality ratio is good, food is excellent and to West-Flemish tradition you get nice big portions. At only 12km from my elderly home, we had a very nice bike ride to the restaurant and back, through the beautiful countryside. Very friendly and pretty knowledgeable staff. Will definitely visit again!“

“Bren trying to get here for years. Bad luck has made it impossible for me to get here earlier, but I happy I’ve finally visited. Located in varsenare ( I’m lucky, thats where my family lives , can think of no other reason to be here ) which makes it even more shocking that this place is that good. The owner (I haven’t met him yet ) has a son that used to do this place, next to his work as rep of de ranke. He was a very good rep, as he knows his beers and has a real intrest in the subject. No-one should be surprised to learn, that Jim is also a great beertender because of this. The list was rather big , nothing internationnaly unique, but for a village like varsenare it’s enormous ! No real new beers ( none for me, that is ) but a very, very solid selection of all thats good in Belgium. Some cellar gems ( de neve geuze ) made the experience go up to a different high. The food was simple, but just very good to me and what I like. Some foodpairing reccomendations in the book. Value is really good on the nez stuff, and crazy low on the vintage stuff. Shamelessly, someone did buy up all the most special stuff though ( OGV, LPK ,... ) and the card wasn’t updated in months. Not everything available was mentionned on the card though, but still, its mouthwattering to see OGV 75 2007 for 30 EUR and the dissapointement is big if you simply don’t have it in stock. The atmosphere was that of a clean, brow café, making this experience overall, a very nice one. If the menu’s would have been updated more frequently, I would have had nothing to complain about !“

“Friendly cafe style bar on the busy through road in Jabbeke centre. Brown cafe style inside, then with an outer covered terrace and finally outside seating watching the monster tractors and trucks coming through, not sure what is going on further out of town, but these are big vehicles. The beer range is fairly standard, but for Jabbeke centre this seems to be the best bar going for any variety and is very handy for the large camping site just down the road. The bus stops to Brugges / Ostend are about 2 minutes walk fro here.“

“Not a place where you have to go when you are staying in the big cities, but certainly worth it when you are biking from Bruges to Ostend. Located next to the water and the fields. There was a smell of the toilets inside so we sat outside where we noticed a smell of the farmanimals, but that’s part of the experience. To be honest, I was biking for more than 100k so I didn’t care about the smell. Really good service. I’m sure that they’d do there best to serve you in English when needed. Nice selection for this distant place, prices are average. The food is a basic belgian cuisine, but that’s all you need after such a biking trip. Worth a long stop during a bike-trip.“

“Located between Bruges and Ostend is 1 of the most hidden places with a large range of Beers and a nice Beercuisine the owner continuesly searches beers on bottle or draft and his wife specialises in a good, honnest, local Beercuisine . I tried the " Blinde Keuns ( Blind rabbit ) with a deliceous Outblack from the Struise . Sure worth trying“

“Nice restaurant with outstanding Belgian dishes (Steaks, lam, mixed grill, BBQ specialist, scampi, gamba and fish). Brand new beerlist with place for expantion. Steven is Orval ambassador and wants to focus his restaurant more on beer. Big terras and fine ambiance.“
