“Small hybrid bottle shop / home brew store. I was primarily interested in finding locals and was pleased to find about 50 Iowa ticks. The selection’s rounded out by another 200 or so bottles. Tight but well curated. Prices were quite cheap and service was friendly. Decent spot. A convenient place to stop if you’re driving through Des Moines.“

“A small store that appears to be more geared toward the beer geek. Its seems to be a homebrew shop first beer store second. The selection is not what you might get at a mega grocery but what they have in not fluff. You arent looking over cans of swill or Guinness looking for craft beer. The price seems reasonable. I made out with quite a haul for about $40. Overall a nice place to check out.“

“A clean modern sports bar look. The food prices are a little high for the area. OK food but not worth the premium. A lot of Iowa beer on tap along with a solid selection of craft from all over. They tend to have one from each brewer rather than multiples. A good spot for the area as the northwest suburbs of Des Moines lack good beer bars.“

“A good but not great selection. The staff is consistently dismissive and rude no matter where you go in the store. The selection is good, but given the size of the store, it is nothing special for the area Hy Vee’s. It is hard to get in and out of in the parking lot.“

“web site says 600 lucky have 100. staff got upset when pointed out most of their IPA’s were 2 or more months old. do yourself a favor drive to ames go to cyclone liquor they really do have 500 beers friendly staff and in date selections. this place is a joke“

“Visited just after lunch on a Sunday. Easy enough to find in a strip mall not too far from I-80 on the West side of town. Setup is a home brew store that also has 4 or so racks of beers and a cooler in back. Entire selection is available as singles, and the prices were good. Selection of Iowa beers is right up front, which was nice. Major downside to this place is that the vast majority of craft beer is sitting warm on the shelves. Service was friendly, and knowledgeable. Decent spot to grab some Iowa beers.

“Stopped quick. Grabbed a couple bottles of good stuff. One friendly worker and one not so friendly. Nice homebrew supplies which I wish I had more time to browse. Moderate selection. Some good stuff though. Individual bottles are nice.“

“Lots of beers but a pretty poor selection, lots of dusty bottles that shouldnt be dusty. Pricing was very fair for singles, service was poor. Looked to have a lot of homebrew supplies.“

“Was told this was the best Hy-Vee in the area, I’m not sure about that. The other one I visited had more that I was interested in. A huge selection of six packs for sure. Small foreign selection. A decent pick six selection. Seemed to be a fairly new store. Very clean and well lit.“

“Nice beer store! Only beer and home brewing available. They took the time to show me all the Iowa beers they stocked. Prices were good. Not a huge selection, but decent. I believe that everything they stock can be bought as a single. Easy to find. Will stop by again.“

“This is the best beer store in the area. Service has ranged from friendly and helpful to snarky and opinionated. I really like that you can single out anything. I was a little concerned about light as the beer seems to be out in the open, but it doesn’t seem to be much of an issue as it is well shaded. The prices were pretty good. Lots of home brewing items for sale. If I get back into it, I would definitely be doing business here. I am really glad to see a great beer store in the Des Moines area that is locally owned. Worth a stop if you are in the area.“

“This place is awesome. In town for the weekend looking for some homebrew ingredients and unique beer. This place has both! First I filled 7 six pack carriers with mix & match beer. All the cans and bottles are individually priced. They have a good variety of different beer from a few Iowa breweries to a lot of Belgium breweries that are all sorted out on the shelves by beer styles. After I picked out beer, I pulled out my homebrew ingredients list and he helped me locate everything I needed. The prices were very good, about the same or cheaper then Midwest Supplies. Very good experience and recommend this place to all. Will return next time I’m in Des Moines.“

“This is the only place in Des Moines I like to go to pick up high quality beer. There really isn’t any way I can better describe the place than CanIHave4Beers did. Best place. EDITED 2010.04.23 They have purchased the building space adjacent to them and expanded into them! Fully taking advantage of new Iowa beer legislation regarding high proof beers, they have used the additional space to offer a much wider selection of beers and home-brewing equipment and supplies. If there is one thing that I wish would change about this place it would be that they stay open until 9PM every day.“

“I like this place pretty well. The gentleman that runs it seems to know his stuff very well in regards to not only the beers he sells but he is also a fantastic homebrew store guy very enthusiastic and helpful. I see more than any place in Des Moines a store here that is remarkably buyer friendly. Every single beer is for sale as a single so you can try anything you like, and I personally appreciate that quite a bit. The store also seems to try harder than any other Des Moines area store to keep the variety of beers around. This was the first place I saw Ommegang beers in Iowa, and they seem to like to keep as many Belgians around as they can, which all be it, may not be that many. But there is always something different here and it’s always worth the drive across town.“

“Updated: They have mostly the same stuff as HyVee but they also get some oddball stuff in as well. They have a bunch of the Mikkeller SH Series. I’ve found JP and 3F there before. Prices are pretty similar to HyVee but sometimes a bit more, though you can buy anything in a single which is nice.“
