Good Spirits (Beer Store)

“Deleted previous rating because of the big improvement. Dedicated parking, but a little hard to get back on the main road. Pretty Good selection, Three Floyds, Against The Grain, and even Lambic. Best selection in the area.“

“The only reason I really visit this place is to see if they, by some chance, have something special that is worth going in for. The service isn’t really that great. I honestly feel like they are watching every move I make... almost like they expect me to steal. The staff is not very knowledgeable either. They have four taps for growler fills. Most of their craft beer is kept in coolers. They do not offer single bottles.“

“If you are looking for beer in the Ashland, Ironton, or Huntington areas, this is your best bet. They recently had a change of owners that have put way more money into craft beer. You will not be disappointed by the selection. “

“Cream of the crop in Ashland, KY. You can find a lot of really rare bottles here that you won’t find anywhere else in the area.“

“The selection here is quite good, especially for the area. That goes for wines, too. I don’t drink much hard stuff, but they did have legal moonshine available! What I will be forever grateful to Ryan and the rest of the staff for is trusting me to keep my word, and setting aside some cases of rare beer for me to pick up on vacation several weeks hence. The service there simply can’t be beat!“

“Dedicated easy parking in the back. They have a few refrigerated cases on the back left and a few shelves and growler fill station straight back, but the selection was fairly limited. Some of their selection was slightly overpriced. Not too many single 12 oz. bottles. They do have some big bottle singles in the cases. I bought a six pack a while back and didn’t notice there was a significant layer of dust on the bend of the bottle (part my fault for not noticing and part their fault for having old stock). If you are in the area stop by. They now have four growler fills. They have a few gems, better bottle selection than continental liquors, almost as good growler taps.“

“This is just the average liquor convenience store with the only difference being that they have a wider selection of beers that most other stores of this type. The employees were friendly and somewhat knowledgeable. They had some pretty good local brews and if I ever happen to be in Ashland again I definitely hit this place up.“

“In downtown Ashland, ABC is quite large for a beer/liquor/wine store. However, much of the space is dedicated to liquor and wine. There are about 10-12 coolers and 2-3 chest-high shelves of beer in total, a little more than half of which is toward the rear of the store and dedicated to regional and micro brews. Probably the best place to find beer in Ashland, but I still prefer Leo’s in South Point basically right across the river in Ohio.“

“(Visited 11/2007): ABC is located near downtown Ashland on Winchester Ave a short distance from the bridge. Parking is plentiful in side and rear lots or on the street. The store is fairly large inside and features wine and liquor as well as beer. The majority of beer is located in coolers in the middle of the store and near the register. They do a good job segregating the 2 sections of beer between macros and craft beer. As for said craft beer, there is a pretty good selection of some of the bigger name craft brewers like Stone, Rogue and Sierra Nevada plus some regional brewers like GLBC, Bluegrass, Berghoff and Bell’s. There is a smattering of imports as well. Just a few singles are available. The service here is friendly and helpful. I got the impression that craft beer isn’t their bread and butter by any stretch but the proprieters were every bit as attentive to me and my small beer purchase as to the larger number of people loading up on other potables. Overall this is a handy store to have around the Southern OH/Northern KY area and I would definitely hit it up next time I am in the area.“
