“Deep in the heart of K-town past the antique malls, on the back side of a small shopping center, hard up against the railroad tracks in what used to be an auto-repair garage. Parking can be a challenge. They make tremendous use of the space, with a large outside area and pretty standard microbrewery interior. Kids are welcomed, and most parents seem to let them to run absolutely bonkers all over the place. There was a small puddle of vomit near where we sat, and kids kept running through it, disturbing the birds who'd come down to peck at the regurgitated morsels. There was also (on a random Thursday night in early June) an...Elvis impersonator who drunkenly warbled through a number of the King's (and Neil Diamond's, for some reason) hits. I'm not kidding. He nearly assaulted me as I walked by his 'stage' area. They had 9 or so drafts relatively split across styles. 3 IPAs, a stout, a dunkel, an alt, a pale lager, a sour, an APA, etc. Tried the alt, the dunkel, the pale lager, and one of the IPAs (hazy). All were good to very good. About $20 for 3 beers, with generous pours.“

“Small, well designed brewery hidden behind a strip mall in a residential area. Beers are quite good for the most part. Friendly service and a lively place on a Friday after work. They manage to make the place look like much more than your average brewery with some good decor. Flights available, prices OK.“

“Pretty big supermarket type store with lots of international foods and wines. The beer section has very few singles, a modestly broad range of East European beers. Didn’t find anything to buy.“

“I hadn’t been here in a couple of years, but I just went back recently, and nothing has changed. The selection is decent for Montgomery County, but pretty mediocre for the rest of the region. The same goes for the prices. You’ll see some moderately interesting stuff, and plenty of the easy to find craft, and that’s about it, but compared to most of the other close by places it is clearly better.“

“This place had a handful of beers from Russia and the rest of the former Evil Empire, including one Romanian beer that we were forced to drink at a tasting. Nothing too exciting, and prices are high. And I know this isn’t rategroceries.com, but it’s the only grocery store I’ve ever seen that doesn’t carry milk. The food they did have was pretty varied, though, from all corners of the world.“

“Good place in Rockville in terms of pricing, and per GT2’s review does not have Bell’s or Founders compared to Friendship Heights as it’s in MD, not DC...“

“Sort of like the B store of Rodman’s in Friendship Heights, this one is next to the Home Goods and Advance Auto Parts in a strip mall right off of Rockville Pike heading north from Bethesda to Rockville. This Rodman’s still is mostly a specialty/ethnic food store with a focus on wine. But in the back that have cases and cases of beer and lots of fridges stocked with singles and six packs. Now, the selection isn’t really that great. They don’t really have a beer buyer so they get in whatever comes in and that is typically a lot of Sam Adams, Flying Dog, B to C level type stuff. They do have really odd singles like beers from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia. It’s worth a peek in to perhaps find some of the area’s really weird beers like Pub Dog and Baying Hound. The real disadvantage to this Rodman’s is that it is in Maryland so does not get Bell’s; which is really the only reason to go to Rodman’s in Friendship Heights anymore. They lost their beer buyer so now it is only good for regular six-packs of Bells and Founders. Don’t expect any special release stuff to ever hit either Rodman’s. But sometimes you may find something interesting. This is more of a place to stock up beer. Though I did find some enticing singles of Southampton Cuvee de Fleurs while I was there ;)“
