“Located in Silver Spring, this brewery is just a short walk from the metro and multiple parking garages. Signage was a big improvement over Astro Lab, which had kept an old "Billards" sign outside. Third Hill put their sign up. Wide selection of beers, well made beers.“

“The other review on here is 10 years old and no longer accurate. This place upped their beer game years ago and now has a phenomenal beer selection. Tons of local craft beer plus a lot of national brands. The owners are super cool and donate beer to local events. Definitely worth stopping in if you are looking for good beer.“

“What a prime location for them, physically attached to the Silver Spring Metro station (easy to miss if you're looking for the street address ... gotta go up the stairs into the pavillion!). Huge German bierhalle-inspired space with community seating. Impressive array of European styles available, too (including some cans), and the beers were good. Unfortunately, I HATE their approach to customer service, where you have to scan a QR code and order remotely, hoping someone will arrive with your stuff. It's like NY airport food service. It was packed, and to be fair, our beers did arrive fairly promptly. But our food (which was underwhelming) took 45 minutes (for a sandwich!?). Brewery #964.“

“Visited 3/2020. Just next to metro station so very easy to visit by beer tourists... like me. Pretty big place and on Sunday lots of families were visiting with children. Their Pink Boots beer was just released and it was great! They had coffee station in the cornes which was nice because I like to drink coffee with beer sometimes.“

“ This large and sleek brewery is located across the street from the major transit hub for buses and Metro, where you can catch the subway to/from Washington, DC. Located on the ground floor of a modern office building, Silver Branch is a welcome addition to a city that I once tagged Beer Wasteland. There is a large bar to the right as you enter; they have about 17 taps, including three casks. What I liked is that they offer all styles - German, British and Belgian. (Their weizenbock is outstanding.) All in all, a comfortable and friendly place with a superb vibe. Throw in upholstered bar stools, great music, free popcorn and a hearty menu, you could spend a while here. There are also two other breweries in the area. A "beer wasteland" no more, indeed!“

“Look and feel of a chain brewpub, open and spacious. Large bar and tons of seating. Not crowded on a Wednesday night. Beer quality was actually quite good. Did not try the food. Parking is a PITA; ramps are the way to go.“

“Nice fairly spacious brewpub with a solid patio. Convenient walk across the street from Silver Spring Metro. Flights of 3 or 6 available. Small food menu plus the occasional food truck. Beers were all pretty good, mostly traditional styles. Decent prices. Worth a look especially combined with the other breweries in the area.“

“Decent brewpub near the metro stop at Silver Spring and close to Astro Lab and Denizens. Good line up of beers - they seem to excel at doing a good job of lighter beers like pils, kellerbier, altbier etc. All above average. Some food and unlimited popcorn for $5. Prices OK. Everything available in flights or by single 4oz. Staff is friendly. Nice patio outside, though the neighborhood lacks character. Definitely worth a beer trip bundled in with the other two places.“

“We came here on 10.6.2019. Last stop before visiting ‘The Specials’ concert in town. This brewpub is located in a modern tall commercial building. The whole city reminds me of a typical newly built town in China. The brewhouse is at the very end and plenty of outside seating is available. Beers on the board are categorized by country: Germany, British, Belgium, US. They had 2 beers on hand pump, which were served at room temperature !!! Liked both beers we had: Alt and Stout. Unfortunately they were out of a few beers.“

“A restaurant were you can sit at the bar and enjoy beer from 12 taps. At my visit, 9 taps were Right Proper Brewing due to a tap take over recently. You have to read the beer menu to find out what’s on tap. Efficient service and they do 4 oz tasters. Nice! And, come on guys! What’s the nagging about parking? I visits many pubs a day and drink a lot of beer. This is not a scenic road trip by car! Use the metro and your feet. (Visited June 26th 2016)“

“Nice looking wine shop cum deli with a smallish beer selection. There were quite a few small craft but no singles at all - which is a huge disappointment.“

“Not bad, but not nearly as nice, friendly or fun as the one in D.C. Staff here is much gruffer, and the atmosphere was pretty slow and empty. Tap list decent, though many things had tapped when I was here.“

“I went in here because it was called a brewery and the server told me that they didn’t brew beer anymore (she said she didn’t know why management stopped, hence the high grade for service). Without that this place is just a generic chain restaurant with mostly macros on tap and a couple of basic craft beers. Avoid, and don’t be fooled by the name.“

“Classy place. Medium sized bard up front, restaurant section in the rear. Handful of local stuff on tap, nothing interesting. Tasty and creative food. Friendly service. Not a beer destination at all, but a decent restaurant. Belongs on Yelp.“

“Large sports bar, football game on when I stopped by. No beers of their own, no craft beer to speak of. Food was somewhat less interesting than mediocre. Scroll past.“

“Stopped here for a birthday lunch. small bar and larger dining area. 10 or so taps, sample pours. Do not park in the Giant lot, security will watch you! park in in the metered garage by NOAA. Really good burger and lobster ruben. will return.“

“This place is in a bit of an odd location, surrounded by the generic high rises of suburbia. There is a covered public/pay parking garage across the street, but you can park for free in the Giant parking lot just around the corner. The beer manager knows his stuff, and does a good job populating the list with interesting local and regional tidbits. They are also starting to hold tap takeovers and other events. A welcome addition to a sparse neighborhood.“

“Medium selection with decent variety. Nothing too unusual but I did find a few bottles of North Coast Old Stock Ale Reserve 2009. Worth a stop but I wouldn't go out of my way.“

“Solid place in Silver Spring for some beers and food. Not exactly a "beer destination", but they do a good job at the one in DC along with Crios(the neighboring restaurant they run in DC).“

“Just opened in the high rise apartment zone in downtown Silver Spring. The address is the actual address of an apartment complex and Scion is part of the apartment complex with entrance facing East West highway. Park across the street in the parking deck. Probably will need to pay a meter.

Ambiance off the bat is more spacious than the Dupont location, larger bar area is welcome, and about 20 tables. Quick, friendly service. Tap list was impressive for opening day: Bruery, Elysian, Flying Dog In De Wildemann, Port City, Lagunitas. Solid. Food as with the other location is where it is at: Wagyu beef burger with fried pickles was divine, lobster mac n cheese with jalapenos surprisingly good albiet bizarre. We were disappointed with the spring rolls- nothing better than normal Chinese take out egg rolls. We were expecting Vietname rice paper spring rolls. Happy hour special got you half price all drafts until 7pm. But they do 4oz tasters here, which is great. We had dinner and spent $100 for five people: pretty solid. I hope this place does well as they deserve it and Silver Spring desperately needs an alternative to Quarry House Tavern for beer.“

“Fun gastropub hidden away essentially inside the Silver Spring bus station not even a block from the metro stop. Trendy semi upscale, fancy burgers and fries. Relaxed lounge area downstairs and bar with dining room upstairs. Usually has a decent craft beer selection consisting of Flying Dog seasonal, probably static taps of National Bohemian. Not the greatest selection but they have craft beer and great food. A less divey alternative to Quarry House Tavern. Similar feel to Scion, which is opening a location in Silver Spring soon.“

“Warm looking place that actually was kind of cold in temperature due to all the windows(and I was at the bar). They have "their own" brews which can’t possibly be made on site unless there is a big space I didn’t see - it seems they sell White Marsh beers. Selection is mostly macro with a few craft standards. Pricing is fine for the area. Not really a beer destination. They do have flights of their own beers but I didn’t get it as I drink flights quickly and had to drive afterward.“

“A very small beer and wine shop that seems to be an old house. The place is quite cramped though the beer selection is decent. There is nothing spectacular here or nothing you will not find at most other stores, and the prices are quite high. At any rate, the service was very good and it is an easy to find, neighborhood store.“

“Old firehouse that is now a bar. Not crowded when I went. They have ambient LED lights at the bar that change color and it is mildly annoying. 3 local beers on tap that were mediocre at best. Server was cute, knowledgeable and attentive. Not a destination by any means but not a bad place for a beer.“

“A wine store with a small but well chosen craft beer selection, and a deli countrr with sandwiches, burgers, salads. Food was tasty enough, but my sandwich was greasy. Unfortunately it’s in the middle of strip mall hell.“

“I couldn’t believe that my local craft beer shop wasn’t on here! This is an awesome store with the best selection of craft beer in the area. Shelves and shelves of single pint bottles of hard to find brews. Also an incredible variety of six packs with a great selection of IPAs and Belgian styles. The service is great too, it’s locally owned by a couple and the husband knows his stuff. I told him I was looking for IPAs with strong pine notes, rather than citrus, and he immediately knew where to direct me. Of course, great selection and good service comes at a price, and I would not recommend this place for your more macro craft brews (Sierra nevada, flying dog, dogfish head) as you can find them for at least a dollar cheaper in area stores with a smaller selection. But if you’re looking for an ale that you haven’t seen anywhere else, give this place some time. As for other details, there is no refrigeration, so you don’t have to be overly paranoid about your ale turning to cardboard on the way home. Also, there are beer tastings every Friday or Saturday, with the other day being a wine tasting. Both 4 to 7.“

“Interesting place..a hefty jaunt from the Silver Spring metro but very close to the "downtown" Silver Spring revitalized area. Interior is massive with sparsely place tables making the ambiance awkward and isolated. Place was very empty when I was there for lunch. About 4 tables and 4-6 people on staff. Decor was okay, relatively clean with some peeling upholstery. Menu is very large, a pet peev of mine with just about every food imaginable. Applebee’s caliber of offerings. Wraps, sandwiches, $15 steaks, burgers. Prices are not too cheap considering the odd location and lack of clientèle. The $8 lunch special I had, Buffalo chicken wrap, was not bad though one half of the wrap had no buffalo sauce on the chicken. Home made potato chips were not very good- extremely over cooked. Essentially just fried oil. Service was okay even though there was 2 waiters for 4 tables. I was not given a water for instance. They had a $7 flight of tasters there with 4 4oz pours of their house beers, which are contract brewed elsewhere so this does not count as a brewpub as they claim out front. House beers were mediocre to sub par. Overall, a slightly interesting place that probably should be out of business unfortunately. Tap list including 5 house beers, 3 other micros like Flying Dog and Heavy Seas. Everything else on the menu is macro stuff: Landshark, Blue Moon, Yuengling, Stella, Shock Top, mostly random garbage.“

“The outside has a really cool appearance. It’s a renovated fire station with a fire truck parked in the front. The inside is nice too with a big open feel. I really liked the house beers and they even had a pretty good selection of guest beers which included a lot of local Maryland brews. I like that they offer a sampler. The food was enjoyable. The Onion rings were amazing. The burger left something to be desired. The service was not very good though. The place was busy but not overly busy and the host acted complety stressed out and kept coming upstairs (we were sitting at the top of the stairs) would look around and sigh loudly and run back down stairs. We barely saw our waitress. She argued with me that Clipper City was a beer that they brewed, then told me she really didn’t know much about the beer. Other than the sevice I overall liked the place and will give another shot in a few months.“

“Very well renovated old fire house, complete with a fire truck outside. We were misled to believe this was a brewpub although it’s correctly listed here as a restaurant. Beers are brewed for them at Red Brick Station in White Marsh. They also had some quality guest taps. We just had a couple brews and a bowl of soup, all of which were good. Food we saw coming out was served in heaping portions and certainly looked and smelled inviting.“

“Pretty cool place in downtown Silver Spring next to the skating rink across from Chik-fil-A and behind Whole Foods. It’s sort of tucked away next to California Tortilla. Adega is a quirky, hip wine bar with free wi-fi and Bistro type food that is very nicely priced and pretty tasty. This is mainly a place to have lunch and have a nice glass of wine without breaking the budget. BUT, they stock a pretty good dose of craft beer. Lots of six packs and a good selection of singles like Chimay and easier to find Belgians. Sometimes they have some interesting things so if you happen to be in the area, I think it’s worth checking out. Even for lunch in general, I found it to be a cool place to relax. Overall, their selection is what you might expect to find in the Whole Foods next door but thanks to Maryland law, grocery stores cannot sell alcohol. So this cozy shop next door fills in that little gap. Curiously, their website seems to blatantly ignore the fact that they sell craft beer. Well they do, and quite a lot of it.“

“A nice place to stop after work. You can order a flight of four 4oz glasses of most things they have on draft for relatively cheap. Wings were great. Service was alright. Ambiance might be better as it gets later, but when I was there it was mostly people stopping by after work for a drink. A place I may go again if I don’t find something different.“
