“Stopped in while traveling in the area and really liked this place. Not only does it have a great relaxed vibe but the beers are really good too. They also have a small kitchen but we had already eaten so didn't check out the food offerings.“

“Lots of beer here, especially Western MA (but not Tree House or anything). Helpful staff with check the back room for you, etc, but only one guy knows about beer. Everything is a dollar more than most places and they buy in huge lots so check dates on your staples (SN, etc). They have specialty foods, but I’ve never bought any. They also have a nice mixed six discount but you HAVE TO CHECK IT EVERY TIME. Their computers are shit and they always fuck this up. Make sure they ring up your mixed sixes first and then check that you got the discount, so you don’t end up at customer service re-buying everything like I have several times.“

“Table and Vine is well located on a road trip from NYC up to Vermont. It is a large drinks warehouse-type place, but more upmarket than Total Wines etc. They have a ludicrously large selection of beer split down several aisles and fridge areas. It was difficult to take in the sheer scale of the beer range. As you might expect they have got all beer regions covered and have plenty of interesting beer. Prices seemed pretty reasonable to me. They also offer a nice selection of premium foodstuffs and other intoxicating beverages. I would say a must-visit in this part of the world.“

“Stopped by here a few weeks ago when I was in the area. Big place with lots of room. Big beer aisle. Service was non-existent. No problem, I can figure things out on my own. Wide selection, mixed, but nothing that stood out.“

“Mega-Mega-Mega liquor warehouse, half the store is wine, extraordinary selection of just about everything including a small display of deli and artisanal foods. Despite having tons of imported and craft beers, something is missing, I don’t like going there. Prices are no better than in my go-to place, the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow, discounts are limited to wines and are only 10% for a case, few of the staff are knowledgable about the beers. Negotiating a discount on 3 or 4 cases of an import is like pulling teeth, whereas the smaller stores are easy to deal with. Perhaps with so many staff and offerings, I should not expect such. But I was disappointed to not see some fine MA craft beers, especially Idle Hands and Enlightenment, which are at Kappy’s; or the Belgian seasonals which one can find at Beer Shop. So go there to get what you know you want or to browse with a ratings guide, keep your iPad at ratebeer, don’t expect much help with the craft beers. Their wine clerks, however, are very helpful and have yet to mislead me. When I need a specific taste in wine they are on the ball.“

“Went here to do an IP trade with Gn0sis. Browsed around and wow, this place is amazing. Great selection of beer, wine, cheese, champagne, charcuterie and a ton of mustard to choose from great oil & vinegar selections too. This place rocks! Service was awesome.“

“I can’t see what all the love is for this place is coming from. It’s essentially an upmarket total wine so we’re talking supermarket layout with the focus on wine, which takes up half the store, and beer relegated to the back coolers and the left 2 1/2 aisles. They do have a number of locals but very little unique or unusual. Service is nonexistent in the beer section although you can’t walk more than 3 feet in wine without someone waiting in you. Yes you can buy beers individually but the experience is so corporate and so cynical that it’s breathtaking. Not even total wine inundates you with radio ads for BMC every 30 seconds like these folks do. One minute they’re telling you they have 700 different kinds of beer and the next there pontificating on the virtues of the beer of the month which is currently Corona. I just found the whole experience off putting.“

“Stopped in to buy some beers on my way to Boston. A large warehouse type store where they had put a decent amount of effort into the decoration. The staff seemed knowledgeable though I did not ask any specific questions. Selection went above what I was expecting with countless bottles available. Prices seemed quite competitive as well. A great Massachusetts store.“

“Huge, very fine store, with only a a couple aisles of craft beer--but given the size of the store, that’s definitely enough. Also huge selections of wine, gourmet foods, and liquors. First went on a Saturday, when the store was packed with people for some sort of mass sampling event with free food and whatnot, and oddly a DJ. Dropped about $50 that day and came back the next day when it was much less crowded to spend the same amount! Tried a couple samples of the "staff picks" from a staff member traveling around the store; both were good and I ended up picking up one of them. You can also break up any 4- or 6-pack in the store (including cans if you’re wondering). Don’t miss the variety of local and other Massachusetts growlers in a fridge along the back wall; all at surprisingly good prices. When I looked at the list of what was available in Massachusetts, I didn’t think I’d end up picking much up, as the listings I saw were mostly all available in various states around the Midwest, but the selection was deep enough that I ended up going way over my intended budget. Less beer-buying I have to do at home for the next few weeks, though.“

“I had visited the Table and Vine in Noho many times while still living in Amherst, but never been to this, the bigger, one. A great first stop on my mini new england vacation. Could have spent hours just looking at the liquors alone. Always depresses me a little bit going to these stores because our selection in NC is so pathetic. They do have a great selection of gourmet foodstuffs but I didn’t buy any on occassion. Think I got some truffle butter at the Noho location once though. Yes, it was good.“

“Gigantic liquor store with an impressive selection of craft beer. Two 50-ft long isles with singles on both sides. The import section was fairly normal for a larger beer store but the domestic section was amazing. I was able to pick up a ton of local singles and harder to find California beers that I can’t get further south. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful and the prices were normal for the beer that I bought.“

“My best local bottle shop. Place is owned by Big Y grocery stores and it resembles a grocery store. Huge, well lit, and clean. Staff is friendly and willing to help. The beer manager Tom is knowledgeable and always happy to help if you need to know something specific. Prices are a bit high for Mass. and they allow you to break up 6-packs but dont do it. The upcharge on a single is pretty bad. Good selection and good service.“

“Great selection of New England locals. Was driving through from Vermont, and was happy to pick up stuff we don’t usually see in New York (including Russian River and Lost Abbey beers!) Imports section was a little boring, but domestic crafts were spot on (though super-rare). Wish I knew something about wine, because the wine and liquor selection completely dwarfed the beers. Prices seemed on the high side, but not unreasonable. Staff was friendly. Any case, will definitely be stopping back if I’m in the area (basketball hall of fame is nearby). Be wary though - my GPS sent me to the wrong address, about 10 minute drive away.“

“You won’t find much by way of service, but that’s OK. Just wander up and down two looooong rows of craft and imported beer and be sure to check out the coolers and special displays near the back. When I lived in New Haven, CT, I would make the 50 minute drive north every other month to stock up on what could not be found in CT. If it’s distributed in Mass, you’ll likely find it here. Prices are perhaps a bit higher than some other places in the area, but no higher (and probably lower) than in the Boston metro. Selection trumps all, and that means this is a great place.“

“This store is top notch all round. The ambiance is set beautifully with gorgeous flooring and elegant wine racks. The service level is incredible. I dealt with Andrew in the spirits section and he was extremely knowledgeable. Tom in beer knows his stuff, too. Their selection of gourmet foods from around the world is second to none. Although some items are priced a little higher than other places, one can quickly realize its because they keep such an extensive selection of products on hand. Their variety more than makes up for an extra fifty cents for a six pack. This is the only place I go to buy my beer.“

“Nice, clean, well-kept store. Selection is excellent for the area; they carry just about everything you can find in Massachusetts. Nice import selection as well as domestic. Many local craft beers too. Quite a few singles, especially the imports, and they will sell singles out of the six-packs on the shelves, usually for $2-3 each for a good beer. I go here often and the service is quite helpful, even when the store is busy. The employees love their bees as much as anyone else and are willing to tell all. Prices are decent. Overall, easily the best beer store in western MA.“

“Excellent gourmet store in general. Upon entering this place looks like a gourmet food market of sizable proportions, much like a whole foods. I actually enjoyed meandering my way back to the beer section (which occupies four entire supermarket rows!!! I found a great selection of American micros, as well as a decent array of foreign brews. For someone currently residing in CT like myself, it was a welcomed sight to see Lost Abbey, Port, Hoppin Frog, Moylan’s, Left Hand and founders to go along with the usual NE selection. My only knock is that there didn’t appear to be anything truly rare or hard to get, outside of standard state distribution constraints.“

“I tried to refrain from assigning a numerical review to this place since my opinion is inherently biased as an employee. Despite this bias, I still love this place as it really helped start me out on my own personal beer odyssey. Although I had always enjoyed tasty local brews instead of nasty macros, but working here has really been a great opportunity to fine-tune my knowlege of and palate for great beer. Although many people complain about the Big Y buy-out, many good things have come from it as well. For instance, Big Y’s presense has allowed for the store to be rennovated in order to provide a much nicer and more functional decor. Also their greater buying power is in integral part of making hard-to-find beers available in the Western Mass. area, and without this you can kiss your Founder’s Breakfast Stouts, SA Chocolate Bock’s (for $15), and Green Flash’s goodbye. Also I would like to note that the store’s ownership or employees do not determine the configuration of the cooler, that distin“

“WOW! This place ROCKS! I was driving up to VT and stopped by the COSTCO nearby to buy another cooler that can hold two 1/6 barrel kegs. It was early morning and COSTCO wasn’t open yet. I am so glad I found this place as this is the best beer store I have ever been to. They had two maybe three full “grocery store sized” aisles just of beer, including the largest selections of Belgiums I had ever seen. Next was the largest section of Crafts I had ever seen. So many beers from some really small New England breweries. It was hard not to spend $300…but I tried. The folks working were so nice. I met Steve the store manager who was extremely helpful. I was having car problems as my Jeep’s Car Alarm kept going off for no reason. They staff was helpful not because it was their job. They were helpful because they wanted to be. GREAT HOURS TOO! Anything that you can get at other western, MA stores you can get hear plus more. they no longer carry alesmith which is a disapointment, but nobody in western, ma does anymore, because of distribution issues. They do however have a decent selection of southampton, stone, avery, DFH, and they just got Boris the crusher. As for belgian brew they have Roch 10, ST B 12, and Achel to name a few.“

“A must stop if you are passing through this large and modern lquor store sports a good long three rows of beer, with anything new in abundant supply. Lots of Alesmith, which the other stores were sparser in. Easy to find. Good selection of deli. Physical help is available. Convenient to the highway though it was a bit tricky and took a couple of u-turns to find-the first time. Prices are average. I am glad this was the last stop on the tour, to fill in on beers I could not get elsewhere.“

“Used to love this place, but they recently caved to their Big Y corporate overseers and dedicated several former micro fridges to macroslime. Sacrificed quality beer space for profits from 30-pack sales. Their wine selection remains probably the best in New England, though. And their import selections are still staggering. Great domestic selection, too, but since last year it’s grown static, very few new additions, many dusty bottles, and Spirithaus in Amherst has overtaken T&V as the area’s best US micro selection. Probably because Spirithaus is more interested in providing good products and doesn’t have to pathetically pander to Big Y’s bottom line. The gourmet food selection is nice, though from friends who worked there heard that cheese is routinely wiped of mold and repackaged, and "fresh" bread is shipped frozen, then thawed before display. Despite my many gripes, still a great beer selection. Just wish that selection wasn’t in decline.“

“What a find. Drove the 1.5 hours from Ludlow, VT to get to it. The good thing, is you can get on the 91N for about a 1/2 hour and be at McNeills. The place has just about everything sold in the state. Hooker, Stone, Allagash (no Odyssey or Curieux on my trip), Bear Republic, Victory & Weyerbacher and so much more. Don (I think he’s the beer manager) is a very knowledgeable guy and told me I could mix 6’ers, as long as they are the same price and same brewery. Very cool indeed. Plenty of Cantillons and German stuff as well.“

Look out though, I spotted one or two bottles that were past their prime. Service was decent, a clerk stopped by to see if we needed anything, but the girl at the checkout had trouble scanning our stuff, so we had to check the bill to see if we didn’t get charged twice for the same Beer.“

“Fantastic bottle shop in Western Massachusetts. Tons of American micros, great Belgian selection, okay English and German. This is a huge gourmet store with a plenty of interesting cheeses, wines, foods, etc. Tidier than the nearby, excellent Spirit Haus and with a better American craft brew selection. Near Half Time in terms of overall quality of the beers offered, frankly I was incredibly impressed. For its American selection, this is up there with Half Time in Poughkeepsie and Julio’s in Westborough.“

“This is a really nice, large gourmet shop located a couple of miles N of downtown Northampton. Echoing argo0’s comments, what shines here are the local micros, though I didn’t see any McNeills when last I visited (not looking, as I can buy them at work!). Mostly better-known Belgians; prices seemed a bit high. Nov 2004: Allagash Curieux, Newport Storm, SA Utopia...high end selection seems to have improved. One of the best on the East coast. Yes, they do have several McNeills and all the Berkshires.“
