“Beer selections at Meijer have gotten much better since my initial review. Nothing uncommon, but a good amount of selection. Even doing singles now. I pick up six packs here somewhat frequently.

Previous review (2010): Well, you *can* buy craft beer here, but other than Sam Adams you’ll be stuck with around 10 selections that you can get pretty much anywhere else. As Roscoe said, the only upside is that they’re open 24 hours (though of course state laws kick in later at night). Just a typical Meijer. 1/4/3/5/6/6“

“I’ve driven past this place every couple days for the past few months and didn’t really like how it looked from the outside. Too polished. But having been there on opening night, it all really works once you’re inside. It’s a small place, but the decor works for the most part. Polished, but it has a certain distinctiveness. It was really crowded tonight of course, but we were able to find a seat once another group left. The beer itself was really impressive, though I personally only tried out the high gravity stuff tonight. A great surprise it was, though. It’s definitely on the expensive side, however, at $8 + tax for what looked like about an 8 oz glass of the high gravity stuff. The regular lineup was more reasonable at $5 for a larger glass. Service was decent considering how busy it was and how little practice they’ve had, and everyone was good to talk with. Will be interesting to see how the place has evolved in a few months; I’m already speculating that the shuffleboard table might have to go in favor of some more seating.“

“Been a few times after a game at Compuware, some reasonable choices in bottles, draft list is typical commercial beers. You can do worse.“

“Visited the taproom for the first time. Pretty nice place, and I’m surprised how great their beers are. Was somewhat crowded; I think they could make a little better use of the small space, even if just by having a few folding chairs in the corner to add to the tables when needed. Beers are very limited, very small batch right now; they usually run out of a couple beers over the course of the weekend. But the two I had were really good.

Previous review of the Cider Mill (retail location): I added this as a place a couple years ago, but I didn’t rate it at the time since I hadn’t been there in person since I was a kid. Anyway, this place has grown since then. Definitely still a family place to go, with picnic tables and lots of playground equipment outside. Not sure if you can drink their alcohol on site though; I’d venture to guess you can’t. Inside the main building there’s the main counter with several registers and, off to the side, the wine and cider tasting bar. Several varieties of Michigan wine, some with other fruits, and currently three alcoholic ciders, two of which have fruit added. Of course the main attraction for most people is the (non-alcoholic) apple cider and donuts. It’s nice to see this local business doing so well, and their "hard" cider has started turning up on tap at places in Plymouth and Ann Arbor.“

“Well, this is a Trader Joe’s. They don’t tend to vary all that much, I suppose. A good place for food. As for beer, the chain does have several exclusive selections, all of which are excellent deals. I make sure to try the Vintage Ale every year, of course, and their other exclusive beers are generally decent, very cheap, and all available as singles. But frankly, the selection after that just isn’t very wide. So they carry craft beer, but not much of a selection of it. A great store, but I wouldn’t rate it as more than "decent" for beer purposes.“

“They let you buy singles of any of their offerings. Selection isn’t amazing, but whatever. Pricing is very fair. Dirt cheap wine, too.“

“How can you guys rate Meijer so low for food?! This is where the bars get their food! Oh yeah, and the beer selection pretty much fucking sucks.“

“**Update: they’ve added Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout Bombers. Also, a few Founders and Shorts brews, and some other bombers** hard to rate a place like this. not much of a selection. a few samuel adams flavors, a couple from Great Lakes Brewing Co, a couple Bell’s selections, (and occasionally Bell’s minikegs). A good place to find beer after all the party stores have closed.“

“Basically a sports bar and restaurant with a decent beer selection. Most of their beers are world macros, but there are around 15-20 selections that would interest a beer lover, including some US craft selections and good European examples of several styles (Saison Dupont, Pilsner Urquell, Samuel Smith’s, and so on). Service was pretty quick and the burger I had was also quite good. Not a real beer geek place, but a good local place to have a few good beers and a pretty good meal. It’s also worth noting that, despite allowing smoking in the bar area, there was only one person smoking on the crowded Saturday night.“

“Selection is about what one would expect from a good beer store. Lots of local breweries, and the major midwest, national, and import brews available. All in all about four refrigerator doors of craft beer and a full aisle of unrefrigerated, being about six or so doors’ worth on that aisle. The decor of the store is pretty nice for a liquor store, the trellis by the ramp to the refrigerated craft area is a nice touch. Importantly, you can get singles of anything in the store, definitely a nice feature. The location’s convenient and the selection is good for my usual needs. Also had a brief conversation with the owner and an employee, who both seemed to have a decent handle on craft beer.“
