60 /100 2514 WORLDGATEWAY PL Near my gate and I saw the word "taproom," so, sold. Big place. Big bar, lots of tables, good social distancing. Outlets and USB ports at the bar is a plus. Bartender was okay but somewhat unfriendly. Had some eggs with bacon, fingerling potatoes, and toast. Eggs were seasoned well and bacon cooked nicely. Decent tap list with several local beers. Prices astronomical, but that's to be expected in an airport. Breakfast + 1 beer + tax and tip was about $31. Not bad, but I'm not sure I'd stop here if it wasn't in my concourse. |
66 /100 2514 WORLDGATEWAY PL Came here on 25.7.2019. Agree with some of the previous reviewers, this is one of the better airport beer bars. Food is excellent !! Had the Shrimp + Grits .. an absolute must. Very good beer selection: Alaskan, Latitude 42, Pilsner Urquell !!!, Revolution from Chicago and a few more. Service extremely knowledgeable and friendly compared to other airport bars. They give samples of their beers, have never seen this before on an airport. My first Detroit experience was definitely extremely positive. |
64 /100 Gordon Biersch - DTW (Bar) 1 DETROIT METROPOLITAN AIRPORT Visited late January 2018 after interviewing for a job I didn't get. Sad panda. It's an airport bar/restaurant, so don't get your hopes too high. I had a friendly bartender. Prices are high. Selection is mostly GB stuff with a good handful of other craft beer - I was able to get plenty of rates. It's an open air type bar/restaurant area at the end of a terminal, so it's noisy, lots of people in and out, etc. Beer isn't great. Look, basically all GBs I've been to are the same and so is this one except it's in an airport. You know what you're in for. |
76 /100 2514 WORLDGATEWAY PL Visited late January 2018 en route to a job interview... that I didn't get, dammit. It's an airport, so you'll have to get over that. Obviously this isn't exactly a "destination," but I had some good food and good beers at a neat little place while in an airport, so I was happy enough! My bartender was prompt and friendly, even able to suggest some more sought after beers, telling me what was local/regional, etc. I'd probably be back if I were stuck in the airport. I mean hey, good beer at an Iron Chef's place?! Sweet! Obviously it's at an airport, so get ready to pay for that. |
54 /100 2514 WORLDGATEWAY PL A little better ambiance than the Plum market but this place has all the same beers but less than the former. Service a little better, still airportish. |
66 /100 2514 WORLDGATEWAY PL Large U shaped bar at one end plus restaurant tables. Quick friendly service. Handful of interesting taps plus a small number of bottles. Prices not as outrageous as most airports. Good layover choice in Detroit. But MSP still beats DTW hands down in variety of places and quality/quantity of beers. I hope this is a sign that airport bars are improving, at least the ones that aren't owned by ABInBev |
80 /100 2514 WORLDGATEWAY PL Visited during a layover. Food was excellent (Angus Burger). Tap list and bottle list were decent, about 10 taps and 15 bottles available. Service was excellent. One of the best airport bars I have visited. |
78 /100 2514 WORLDGATEWAY PL Located across from A23. Modern decor. Long bar and plenty of seating. The tap list had a good variety and a good bottle list. The food was great, we had. Fish & Chips and Trout. Airport pricing but worth it. |
68 /100 Gordon Biersch - DTW (Bar) 1 DETROIT METROPOLITAN AIRPORT We had a short stop-over at the DTW on the way to Los Angeles. We only had time to grab a beer and then run. It was perfect place to do that as they serve local craft beers. I had an IPA from Atwater. Every airport should have place like this. Visited April 2015. |
70 /100 Gordon Biersch - DTW (Bar) 1 DETROIT METROPOLITAN AIRPORT Good sized bar and restaurant at the end of the A gates (A73). 6 GB beers on tap, 2 craft guest taps, Shock top and Guinness. Friendly service. |
74 /100 Merriman Street Grill (Restaurant) 7660 MERRIMAN RD A nice little restaurant with a little bar. Only 3 beers on tap, decent bottle list of local beers. Good and friendly service. Good food. |
52 /100 Gordon Biersch - DTW (Bar) 1 DETROIT METROPOLITAN AIRPORT American airports are pretty crappy. Not only is the beer crappy, the choices are crappy, the atmosphere is crappy and the prices are the crappiest anywhere in the world. DTW is a a perfect example of America’s crappy and crumbling poorly planned and obsolete infrastructure. However, the Gordon Biersch at the hi end of terminal A at DTW is the least crappy part of that crappy airport. It’s part of an open-plan food court with a Chick-fil-A, a Qdoba, a frozen yogurt place, and a newstand, all airport generic standard. But there’s also a player piano. Oddly, people applaud this piano at the end of each tune, even though no one is actually playing it. The GB itself is airy and bright, a definite exception as crappy airports go. But it has the same tired beer list that every GB on the planet has. With one exception, they have a Great Lakes tap. Go figure. If you must transfer in DTW and can’t get to a better airport like MSP, this is the least crappiest place to hang out. |
26 /100 10885 MIDDLEBELT RD This place is run by a bunch of kids that don’t know what they’re doing. The beer is terrible, but they have a lot of kinds, and they give you peanuts and breadsticks and crackers with it. Hope they’re using theyre parents money becuase if they got a loan for this they’er going to be in debt forever. |
70 /100 Romulus Palace Liquor Store (Beer Store) 31370 ECORSE RD near DTW and all of its hotels. large store will a long line of coolers. everything from malt liquor, to craft six packs and bombers. prices seemed ok. good shit for a few hotel ticks. |
62 /100 Merriman Street Grill (Restaurant) 7660 MERRIMAN RD went here for dinner since it was next to my hotel. walked in and gives an instant family resturant feel, small bar, some tables. friendly service. 3 beers on tap: bud light, sn pale, and bells best brown. looked like around 30 bottles of michigan made beers.menu was pretty expansive. i got grilled perch tacos which were decent. would i go out of my way, no... but if staying in near by hotels it would suffice. |
58 /100 Wheat & Rye Airport (Restaurant) 7000 MERRIMAN RD Wheat & Rye is a restaurant near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport that specializes in huge sandwiches, hamburgers, and pub food. Portions are enormous with quality meats and good breads. Some of them are too big to pick up even half a sandwich, let alone eat it. They claim 75 types of beer, but I count 5 taps and about 25 bottles. Mondays, a glass of beer is $2, and bottles are $3. You can’t beat it for value, and some of the beers are quite excellent ales. |
60 /100 Super Y Market (Beer Store) 7130 MIDDLEBELT This liquor/beer convenience store is located near the Detroit Wayne County Airport and the hotels in the area. There are 15 to 20 coolers of mostly beer, but most of them are full of macros. There are two or three coolers with very nice choices from Bells, Founders, New Holland and some other Michigan brewers. The store has a convenience store atmosphere with not much ambience, but the proprietor is friendly and allows sales of singles, either from the singles cooler, or by choosing from any of the packs. Discount for buying 6. As a bonus, they will deliver orders over $10 to the nearby areas. |
76 /100 Merriman Street Grill (Restaurant) 7660 MERRIMAN RD A friendly restaurant with 32 bottles and some taps featuring some fine local beers from Bell’s, Founders, Dark Horse, Arcadia, New Holland, Shorts, and Atwater, plus some of the pedestrian national brands. Food is a nice selection and very good. Friendly staff, and it feels like a family-operated place with a lot of pride in what they do. It’s located close to the airport and to all the airport hotels. |
78 /100 Merriman Street Grill (Restaurant) 7660 MERRIMAN RD Located in a strip mall next to the Detroit Metro Airport hotels, this restaurant has 4 taps of macro brews and 60 bottles of well-selected, mostly local craft beers. You can eat at the sports bar or the many tables in the adjacent room. They will deliver food and beer to your nearby hotel room after 5pm, a nice service since the hotels have no good beer or food. |
