“Came here on 3.12.2022. Small brewery in the village Atlantic Highlands. On the first floor a shop and 2 bars on the second floor. 18 beers in tap, many of the high alcohol IPA’s. I had the Hook and the Whaler, both good beers. Nice ambiance, red brick building, nicely furnished.“

“Ambiance - in a beautiful town this hip cool little venue offers up a nice tasting room. Not really big, but it's welcoming. Be nice to have it to yourself. Service - is very good, and quick. Selection - not a ton of offerings, but they are all good and brewed fresh. There is also cans readily available. Food - N/A Value - is very good. Hard to beat Overall - a great venue, with great brews.“

“One of the more well known breweries in NJ and for good reason. They do a lot of experimental beers and are on the map for BOAT and their Regular Coffee imperial cream ales. The taproom was a bit cramped when I was there, but it was for a Regular Coffee variant release, so that's likely why. Street parking was available a block away. Not bad. Great staff. Solid beers. Must visit.“

“Liked the place a lot. Busy but not too packed, we easily found a place on a couch, as most people seemed to prefer to stand. Nice and varied beer selection, and 5 bucks for a tour with 5 (or was it 6?) tasters is a good deal. Solid regular beers and I loved the sours. Worth a visit.

Visited on a Saturday with S and my Jersey ’in-laws’.“

“Cool old building, quick tour mandatory for samples. 5$ for 6 samples, hot or miss cans to go.“

Ambiance: The tasting room is nice and feel comfortable to lounge around in. I could see it getting packed quickly though.
Service: I have mixed feelings on the service. I am going to keep my thoughts to myself, but it could definitely be better.
Selection: I think there were 8 beers on tap? A few staples and some I’ve not seen.
Value: Sample prices were decently priced, but growlers seem a bit expensive.
Overall: Worth a stop to try some of the state’s best beers. It’s small and can easily get crowded though and the service could use some help. I wouldn’t likely stop here again, but I would recommend it if you’re in the area.“

“I wanted to like this place more than I did. It is WAY too crowded, but that is a good and a bad thing I guess. The quick tour was fine. The tour guide was nice enough and knowledgeable enough too. You can barely move in the tasting room. They blatantly and quite obviously serve their regulars/friends first, which is fine I guess, but makes you feel second class. (Sorry, I have to downgrade my service score when I watch them server regulars coming from the back over people waiting patiently by the bar). Five beers/tokens for $5 is a good deal. The cans to go were more than in stores, judge that how you will. (I’d go 10 value for the samples and 5 value for the cans). My review is mixed. I really like Carton, especially Boat in the summer by the pool or grill, and will continue to drink their beers, but I don’t know that I’d rush back to the brewery. The whole vibe of the place just rubbed me the wrong way. I mean, if I wanted to be packed into a place like this I probably would have gone to a more traditional Jersey Shore hot spot. With half as many people or twice as much space I’m sure I would have had a nicer experience.“

“The second solid brewery in NJ, and that is a small list. The building has no signage thanks to the lawyers not wanting the kids at school across the street to know there is a brewery in the hood. Very friendly staff, and a cozy and comfortable tap room on the upper floor.“

“This brewery is in an interesting old building. For some odd reason you have to do the tour before heading to the tasting room, but that’s fine, it’s short and pleasant. The tasting room is upstairs - you buy five tokens for five bucks and they encourage you to taste is a certain order. Beers were very tasty. Decent stop.“

“This building doesn’t look remotely like a brewery but i guess it is across from a school. The beer is fantastic, the beer sampler is nice, boat cans were great and they seem to always be doing tours.“

“Awesome comfortable vibe. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of standard Carton stuff and rarer one off type drafts. Only bummer is having to buy a flight instead of individual drinks, but they seem willing to give you a taste of something for free if that's all you're looking for. Great spot.“

“Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a tour with my wife and one other fellow who arrived at the same time. Immediately I was greeted by a brewer who began a really friendly, informative, snappy, and enternatining tour of their compact facility. It was awesome to be able to ask specific questions and it was also really cool to chat with the brewers about what was brewing in the "Tippee", their 20-gallon tast batch rig. Once upstairs in their very rustic/hip bar area, we enjoyed 7 huge samples of their excellent beer for $5. I know that a lot of brewery tours have free samples, but none are anywhere near this quantity. Great value at a chill place that employs passioante and courteous people. Would love to come back.“

“One of the two new superstars of the NJ craftbeer scene (along with Kane). A visit here is a must. Everything about what these guys are doing is great. From converting an old warehouse/manufacturing building that may not have otherwise been their first choice if location was less of a priority (so they could make beer in the town they were from)...to making some of the most unusual (ala Dogfish), innovative, and high quality beers in the state. This is a fun place to visit...not only because of how they decorated the tasting area...or how they shoe-horned an expansion into such a small space...but primarily because of how fun and interesting the owners and staff are. Make sure you try Boat Beer...a truly amazing session west coast IPA (even though they don’t call it that). You can smell the west cost hops...the taste is amazing...but they do it all on only 4.2% ABV! Make sure you also try the 077XX and the GORP (as in good old raisins and peanuts). I look forward to many new and exciting beers from them. Go out of your way for a visit here.“

“Soon as I walked in the brewery I was greeted by one of the brewers who immediately took me on a one on one tour. Followed by enjoying some samples in the tasting room. Atmosphere was really nice and relaxed. Leather couches, brick walls, beautiful bar. Beers were great and everyone was so friendly.“
