80 /100 17 MILTON AVENUE Visit Date: 10/8/2017 This is a pretty fun little spot in Highland. Multi-room kind of set-up with the bar in 1 room, seating in a 2nd room, a garage type of area, and a patio too. We spent most of our visit on the patio. Very nice folks working here as well. I thought their beers were above average. Same for the food, which I found pretty tasty. 12 oz crowlers of any of their beers are available to go, which I don't recall ever having seen at any of the other venues I have visited. Would very happily return. |
78 /100 74 VINEYARD AVE Another local place I’ve never gotten around to reviewing in spite of a dozen or more visits. This place is great. Chill and laid back most of the time, half craft beer bar, half coffee house, with a great kitchen as well. Generally 10 taps on, with a great selection that skews local (or greater NY/Hudson Valley metro), but isn’t limited to just local. List changes fairly regularly, and they keep up to date menus online. Service is good, staff are friendly. One of my favorite local hangout beer bars. |
80 /100 17 MILTON AVENUE Multiple stops in here during the last year that they’ve been open (1st anniversary coming up in a couple of weeks, in the last half of August 2017). Refurbished industrial garage space, gear logo plays into the industrial space nicely, formerly had been a machine shop, then a cabinet shop. Generally 6-8 beers on tap, with flights of 4 for $8, with full pours between $6-7. Currently only open for the weekends as they’re all working day jobs as well, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they start being open more at some point, as their beers are pretty darn good. Very much worth a visit.

70 /100 17 MILTON AVENUE Nice stop when in the Highland area. Older concrete type warehouse or small workshop space. The people here were great....arrived late on a Saturday with the place maybe 1/3 full...but had some great conversations with the staff. The beers are average to in some cases...above average. Nothing really stood out for me...but they are new and seem to have the right attitude and equipment to improve. I don’t know if they always make food but they were cooking up some mighty fine hot dogs in the back brewing area that night....which you can walk into a section of...enough to see all the equipment. Worth a stop if in the area and can be combined with a few other nearby breweries. |
80 /100 The Gunk Haus (Restaurant) 387 SOUTH ST Great selection of tap beer. Great selection of bottles beer, bourbon and some ciders. Food was very good, and not that expensive. The homemade liverwurst and pretzels, yum. Great place. Would definitely go again. |
