“Nice brewery taproom. Small selection on tap, nice old-school styles. I got the rauchbier - it’s excellent. Average prices, friendly service. A few more options available in can and bottle. Good options available, including pizza. Probably not a destination brewery but definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area/passing by.“

Beer World (Beer Store)

“Yeah, this place has been open for about a year or so now... I’ve been too lazy to add it. Thanks to whoever did. I’m guessing that BRANBEEREXPERT works at the store since his rating is his only contribution to this site. The place is a bit pricey, but the beer is fresh. I was going to the Catskill store for some time now, but I am getting tired of dusty old bottle s and ambivalence from the owners. Most of the guys working here are pretty passionate about beer. I’m glad its so close to my normal haunts like stanz house of treasure.“

“Nice roomy place. They have something going on everyday. Something to promote their beer and the brewer. They don’t roll out the red carpet for you but they are pretty sociable. As most places the bartender was busy. It was Saturday night they had an event going on. She and the guy helping out were friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. Selection of beers was good. Beers were not great but they were solid. Flight cost me $15 for 6 4.5 oz pours. I didn’t eat. Mixed drinks and wine available. Peanuts out there for you. Hard to find with the GPS you gotta type the whole street name in as you go. A place I would visit often if I lived near by. I liked it. Again I like event each night of the week format. Give them a try“

Beer World (Beer Store)

“ATTENTION to all the beer Connoisseur, BEER WORLD is by far one of the best beer stores I been too, and I have been to over 50 top shelf beer stores in America.. They deffinitley have one of the Worlds largest selection of beers from all over the world and they have the top shelf micro beers in the world. They have one of the largest beer cave in the world as well I have never seen such a thing, also which is very helpful is they have a redemption center so its now a one stop shop for me no more going to walmart to fight with the machine just to return bottles!! and the staff at beer world is very helpful and would do anything to get you what you are looking for. I have never seen a store as organized and beer world , I think more stores like them have to get their shit together and know what they are actually selling, because once I went to halftime in Poughkeepsie and they steered me in the wrong direction it totally had nothing to do with what I was looking for, not only that they were very rude felt like they belittled me, halftime staff is weak!!! nothing compared to beer World in Kingston. Keep Up the work, thanks for everything BEER WORLD“

“I heard about this place from a friend who follows them on Twitter who said it was beer heaven. After finally making the trip, he was absolutely right. I’ve never been to a beer store like this- it’s HUGE, bright, clean and has a knowledgeable, friendly staff. They also have 32 taps for growler fills (I don’t even think there’s a bar up here with that many taps) AND you’re allowed to sample the draft beer!!!!!!! Ridiculous. This is definitely my new place for beer, no more trips to that other big place in Poughkeepsie, it has been out-everythinged by Beer World. One more thing to mention- love the new release shelf right in the front and the way the beer is put together by the kind of beer in the beer cave, have never seen that before in a store and makes it easy for me to find new beers to try. Beer World RULES!!! Worth the trip from anywhere.“

“Came in here solely to get a bottle of Helderberg (local meadery) mead. As this is NY and beer is separated from liquor and wine, there is no beer here. There are a small handful of sakes, and a mead or two. It’s hard to judge this place (or any wine store in NY really) too harshly by the measurements used on this site. I honestly didn’t look over the wine selection. I came in for one specific bottle, bought that specific bottle and that was it. Basic liquor store that had a local mead I wanted.“

“Visited; 10-27-11 For the record, I am not a local playing homer on my review..I live on the other side of NY state. I walked into the place and it seemed like a members only club. It has a very strange low key vibe to it when you walk in. The bar is a little small and sits about 10 people and has several tables and a couple of dart boards around. The quality of the beers were average, nothing really sucked nor blew you away. The service was decent as the abrtender was friendly and attentive. The selection of the beers was mediocre as they only had 5 in house beers on tap, no externals..which were Old Capital (blonde), Hurrican Kitty (IPA), Mothers Like (milk stout), Joe Mama (coffee stout), and Oktoberfest (marzen). I ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich ($10 bucks) which I thought was barely mediocre and over valued. I got the sampler platter of beers which was 8.50 for 5 - 4.5oz samples. Overall, I am always welcome to trying a new brewpub and experience new beers. On the other hand, that’ll be my last time here, nothing impressed me enough to want to return.“

“Stopped by while on a recent New York trip. Funky place, the kind I like, with peanuts at the table, kind of a shells on the floor type place. Had a sampler, all decent brews. Like the stouts, they are top notch.“

“I thought this place was mediocre at best, but it also probably suffered from the fact we visited the same day as Peekskill. Keegan has good beers, but most are not exceptional. The food we had was rather poor. They served some flavorless dip with stale chips, ouch! The Mana’s Milk brownies were okay. Honestly, stick with the free peanuts. I wasn’t too impressed by the service, the atmosphere, the food, or the beer. Everything was mediocre to fine...“

“Now here’s an original place. It feels like an improvised pub in an small industrial building in the trashy part of town. Very little effort to make the place look like a real pub. This is an cement-brick commercial space with a few picnic tables here and there and some other stuff. Music at low level. They had 4 taps active when I was there, and get this, it was during the happy-hour and my pint was $2!!!! $2 for a pint of good micro (Hurricane Kitty IPA), probably the cheapest I have ever paid in North-America. Friendly service. I liked that trashy taproom.“

“November 2010. Stopped in on the way to Pennsylvania. Very easy access off the throughway. It is in an old brick building with cement floors, not a lot to look at otherwise. Good happy hour pricing, free peanuts, and a selection of board games you can take to your table. Played Scrabble over a Hurricane Kitty, a nice way to spend some time.“

“Keegan Ales brew pub is located just minutes for Midtown Kingston, and a short drive from the Thruway. The atmosphere is strange to say the least. Two large open rooms with a hand full of picnic tables. Small 15 person bar located in one of said rooms. Peanut shells line the floor around the bar as they seem to be the snack of choice. The bar tenders were friendly and prompt. No complaints there. Beer served in clean glassware. Selction was their own beers. Seem to have 3 always on tap. Did have two rotating beers. had the Hurricane Kitty which was good, had a Pumpkin Ale that was also good. Did not seem to serve food, as that was contrary to previous reviews. If they did... no one was eating. Over all, a good place. “

“A no-frills little brewery with unexpectedly good barbecue. The beer is good but won’t blow you away. Try the brisket with baked beans on the side and a Hurricane Kitty to wash it down.“

“I stopped in on my way home during a recent trip to Albany. It is conveniently located a few minutes off the Thruway at exit 19. It was lunchtime and I expected to see at least a few people at the place. There were exactly two people having lunch at the bar and that was it. There are old picnic tables on what looks to be a stained plywood floor. Really no atmosphere to speak of. Selection was pretty abysmal as they had 4 of their beers on tap, and nothing out of the ordinary. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which was the highlight of my short visit. Next time I will call ahead to see what’s on tap before getting off the Thruway.“

“Nice old foundry building located about 3 minutes off the NYS Thurway. Peanut shells on the floor, cool art on the wall, couches and picnic table, free darts. They had the three staple beers along with Joe Mamas Millk on tap. They were making paninis and such but I didnt get anything. Went on a Friday around 8pm and it wasnt too packed, but they were setting up a little band. Owner was a nice guy. Worth a stop by if your driving through the area!!“

“Great place in the Kingston area. Went to a birthday party there and had the whole place to ourselves for hours! There Jo Mamma’s Milk was fantastic! Good thing I had a room nearby! The party was catered so I don’t know how there food was. Service was great. By the second beer they knew what I wanted. Go and enjoy this great place.“

“A friendly, inviting place, plenty of places to sit at the bar, or in the comfy couches, or at the picnic tables. The staff is solicitous of the patron’s needs, and food and drink are served up promptly. The Dirty Jersey sandwich from the Sunday brunch menu is not to be missed! My buddy and had been planning a road trip for beer tasting, and we’re glad we got to Keegan’s. There’s not a massive variety of brews, but with Hurricane Kitty and Mother’s Milk, we were plenty satisfied!“

“Went to the brewery around Thanksgiving time. Finally got some Super Kitty. Place was quiet when I was there but I hear it gets busy. They have a lot of picnic type tables set up inside and it seems like a pretty cool hangout spot. Had a big hot pretzel and was pretty good especially pairedwith the Mothers Milk I was drinking.“

“Visited in late fall when i saw that they had 2 special beers on tap. Super kitty and their brand new White ale. had all their regulars on tap as well and 2 local guest taps. Pretty damn good selection for a brewery bar. Kingston is a small little city, kind of empty, a bit industrial looking. as is the brewery space. Big open area, cool Kingston sign, couches, picnic tables, outdoor area and a stage area. had a little band named ’Is playing, which was nice. free peanuts is cool. ample parking, can peak at actual brewing and bottling area. trophies sit on top of the cooler with the to go growlers, nice touch. Food is made by a lady with a glorified toaster, behind a counter but its super tasty. lots of different sandwiches and wraps. Nice place that I would definitely stop by again if i was in the area.“

“Re-rate 9/19/2007 Dinner the wife the other night sitting at the bar in wobbly bar stools....or maybe that was me after two super kitties a nice belgian white ale and a IPA. The brewery is off in a warehouse section and the bar area sits ten. Picnic tables mixed with couches for sitting and relaxing or eating. A smal deli like kitchen abuts the stage area for the regularly scheduled bands. Walked into the brewery today with the folks and the wife. Under construction.. So no tap room functioning but the guys took time out of the floor improvement to talk to the folks and gave us a quick tour of the brewhouse and sold me a mixed case. get there on thursda (not sure which one) when the whole place opens for good.“
