36 /100 145 MARKET STREET This place is rough. Maybe two small rows of craft beer, avoid anything perishable that doesn’t have a date stamp, saw many IPA at least 8 months old or well pass BB. Prices were quite high. The store is disgusting with tons of people lined up to return smelly cans at the back. I guess choice is pretty limited around here but I would not be back here unless I absolute had no other options. |
34 /100 Potsdam IGA Supermarket (Grocery Store) 27 ELM ST Nothing to see here, almost literally. One small cooler of craft beer, but nothing much more exciting than SN Pale ale. Really not worth bothering. |
74 /100 Barking Dog Saloon (Bar) 495 W PARISHVILLE RD Cool spot off the beaten path outside of Potsdam, I think literally in a junkyard! But the place is set up well with something like 20 well chosen taps both national and local. Food was solid pub food and service was super friendly. Definitely worth the detour. |
54 /100 Potsdam IGA Supermarket (Grocery Store) 27 ELM ST Old school kinda dingy grocery store. Customer service was nice. Random bits of beer all over the place,. A few oddballs available, and I picked up a limited series beer from St. Lawrence Brewing. Prices a touch high. |
60 /100 Potsdam IGA Supermarket (Grocery Store) 27 ELM ST Grocery stores with 2 shelves dedicated to craft beers. Decent selection at very good prices. There’s also a couple interesting 6-packs in the fridge in the back of the store. They carry homebrew supplies as well. |
50 /100 Potsdam IGA Supermarket (Grocery Store) 27 ELM ST Selection is thin on quantity but high on quality. Too bad I hit it on a summer weekend after I believe it had been raped. I still managed to get some goodies. |
78 /100 Potsdam IGA Supermarket (Grocery Store) 27 ELM ST Another decent establishment in Potsdam, the Former Big M in front of the Co-op, this IGA has 2 shelving units full of liquid goodness, decent prices, and regular new offerings (check their Facebook page). The plus here, this is a decent supermarket, with good specials. OK, does not beat Syracuse or Rochester, but for someone doing a day trip from the Ottawa area, this is pretty decent! |
56 /100 145 MARKET STREET Much more choice than Bessette’s but dismal compared to Oliver’s or, even, Party source. Lots o f local, and semi-big breweries (Sam Adams). Price are very good (low mark-up for singles), and this week , had a good deal on Participation ale by Magic Hat (2.79 for a bomber). Best selection in the Ogdensburg-Massena corridor. |
42 /100 145 MARKET STREET selection is pretty small and alot of the bottles look dusty. However, for a small town like potsdam this is your best bet. You can find some viictory, wagner valley, harpoon, Lake Placid and a few other regional micros. This was the first place I ever bought quality stuff, and for that it will be remembered. |
78 /100 Maxfields (Restaurant) 5 MARKET STREET I concur with the Cap, this place is enjoyable, friendly service, abd excellent food. We had the Gulay Lampsi (filipino rolls) and the Lobster maki roll for beginners, with a Mushu chicken wrap and a turkey melt sandwich with sweet red onions. Yummy stuff. decent $$$. (March 13, 2004).
Update Nov. 12 2004. Still great food, had Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye on tap, and Acme IPA in bottle. I had the Roast beef Panini with Wasabi Mayo....Mmmm. |
56 /100 145 MARKET STREET Good selection but poor variety - Too many macros! Found some Woodchuck singles at $1.30/ea (Pear, Granny Smith and Colonial). Many of the singles are around the $1.20 - $1.80 mark thought the Adnam’s Broadside ($3.79), Entire Butt Porter ($4.19) and Coniston Bluebird Bitter ($4.09) were a fair bid more. |
74 /100 Maxfields (Restaurant) 5 MARKET STREET A very good restaurant "hidden" on the main drag of bustling Potsdam, New York. Staff seems to have a good grasp of the breweries they carry and some knowledge. Fun place for a weekend drive - about 1hr 20min from Ottawa. Also see CJ's and Besset's which are on the way... |
