84 /100 Yard House - West Nyack (Bar) 4374 PALISADES CENTER DRIVE OK...so you either like Yard Houses or you don’t...they’re kind of the TGIF’s of craftbeer places..."except" they really do "kill" the selection thing. I mean if anyone ever gives them less than a 15 out of 15 for selection they need their head examined...LOL! Their food though is much closer to a TGIF’s though (corporate styled). Having said that...I like these places sometimes. I was patronizing thier original locations in southern CA 10 years ago and enjoyed them then. One of my biggest gripes though is that with 130-180 taps (depending n the location) you can’t even pick your own flights. You can only choose from maybe 3-5 pre-selected flights (i.e. Belgium, summer, fruit, stouts or IPA’s...that sort of thing). Lots of TV’s...so this is a good sports bar. One other thing...& I suppose this is more for RateBeer...but classifying every bar that serves food as a restaurant is probably not correct. The real question is which is more important to the establishment. In the case of the Yard House...this is a beer "bar" that serves food...hardly the other way around when you consider the huge investment in beer serving equipment...just my opinion. |
70 /100 Route 59 Beverage (Beer Store) 383 ROUTE 59 this place is so tits. lil rickety old place mainly sells budlight. but they have an extensive bottle selection! you can find beers not even on the shelf by rumageing through stacked up boxes, and the owner doesn’t mind. she is sometimes surly, sometimes very polite. i got to know her and she is actually quite knowledgable about beer. they have a very impressive selection and while i have gotton 1 or 2 sour over aged beers there, its worth it since the price stays the same as the original! found several bottles of very nice 5+ year old anchor ale for only $10 a bottle! great place, would never know its there. a great trading resource for anybody in the area! |
46 /100 Route 59 Beverage (Beer Store) 383 ROUTE 59 An unusual place manned by a lady and her two dogs. Yes, she or her daughter? always answers the phone. Boxes and boxes of beer piled up everywhere. If you know it’s a new beer, fine, otherwise you may be bringing up a five-year old bottle. No exageration, I found a Sierra Nevada Celebration 2000. Figured I will take a chance at $1.35. ALso good on unusual collectible ceramic mugs. Difficult to walk around so you have to rely on staff. Bottles with amazing amount of dust, like a 100-year old museum. But there was a selection of the usual craft beer lines sold in New York, in addition to some hard-to-gets |
