“Medium size space with a patio, 8 beers available when I visited, flights available, no own WiFi (possible access to hotspot); flights available, no food; beer is average“

“Wonderful location near the Hampton Inn in Carborro, NC. They have a kitchen for food and catering. We were there only for their beer. They also had guest brews from Crank Arm. The facility has a drop down screen and parking in front. The Cacasdian Black IPA was especially good.“

“Stopped in just before their Sour Barn Bash, which is definitely a worthwhile festival. The brewery itself is small, cozy, rustic. Corner bar and some tables, intimately connected to the brewhouse, so you can watch the brewer at work and smell the mash. Flights, full pours and bottles available, and beers are tasty. Worth a stop.“

“This place is in between Steel Strings and Yester Years so it makes an easy stop. Medium sized bar on the left, and the rest are restaurant tables. Good service. Beers were solid enough, nothing really out of the ordinary. Shaker pints, sadly. Didn’t try the food.“

“I took TURDFERGUSON’s advice and came here for brunch. Staff seated me at the bar, usually my preferred spot but not for brunch. Food was very tasty, service was otherwise OK. Worthwhile.“

“Enjoyed a beautiful evening on the patio here. Sadly I was to exhausted to try more than one brew, but the one I had was good. Seemed to have a nice vibe. Beertender seemed knowledgeable enough and kept up with the crowd pretty well. Prices average.“

“Small compared to the only other location I’ve been to in Durham. Bartender was upbeat. Decent stuff on tap, but they were out of the first two selections I asked for. Menu looked good but the food was disappointing. Tight parking, prices okay.“

“Small place but large selection. Very good selection of locals, including less common stuff. Good US micro selection and a few foreign selections. A few bottles of wine. 4 taps, all with good stuff and I was given a quite amply sized taste of one of them. Employee working was nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Parking is a little tight. Nice place.“

“Typical Teeter, sort of anemic beer selection compared to other locations. Some locals, but nothing more than the most common stuff.. Other selections fairly typical also, more common craft beers and some macros.“

“Right in the middle of this little gem of a town called Carrboro which is about 1.5 miles from Chapel Hill. Went during the summer so it was as crowded as it must get during the school year. Relaxed intimate interior that was reinforced by the friendly staff. Draft offerings are a nice mix of local and regional craft offerings as well as some national brews as well. Food was straightforward and flavorful and everything was reasonable prized. Maybe not as overwhelming as the Durham or Raleigh locations but works nicely as a neighborhood hangout.“

“Located next to Tyler’s taproom, this place is like a bottle shop as bodega. Small space with a fair amount of coolers as well as some taps for growler pulls. Solid selection of local and regional craft though not so much for Belgians and such. They have a small pick six but it is refrigerated which is nice. Services and prices were both sober and reasonable. Solid neighborhood place more than a destination place.“

“Carrboro seems like a really neat little town full of laid-back charm and character. This place is just off the main drag very close to Tyler’s taproom. As the name implies there’s definitely a music theme with this place specifically old-time country and blues music. The ambiance was brick warehouse but the vibe was friendly and cool unlike the douchebagery one so often encounters just a few blocks away in Chapel Hill. The beers were solid with their Saison being my favorite. Prices were very reasonable. Hopefully these guys will continue to grow and make awesome beer.“

“Right next door to Carrboro Beverage Company (same owners) and just one of four locations in the area (Apex, Durham, Raleigh). The ambiance is neutral, wood themed. Menu is uninspiring considering the Chapel Hill/Carrboro foodie area: burgers, pizza, large plate. A bit pricey for what is given. Service was extremely snotty when I was there, a bit dumbfounding given that this place is completely empty for lunch. Server was sort of a prick about beer and didn’t even serve me the beer I asked for thinking that my questions about the beer meant I was not interested. Glassware was not correct for some beers served. Selection was okay: sweetened lambics, Heavy Seas, Highland, Southern Tier, Uinta. B level distributor. Though sometimes they will get a hold of some rarer one-offs. They do not have an updated tap list online, and they use twitter and facebook for all 4 of their locations, which gets annoying. They don’t have a real website with any useful information, so you have to "like" them on facebook to get any real info out of them. For the scene, I’d rather buy beer next door and drink it out in the lawn in front of Weaver St Market (this is allowed and legal). There is no open container violation out in the grass there. And I would eat somewhere like Milltown, Sandwhich, Southern Rail, Neal’s Deli, Carrburritos. Really, any of these have more character. Pint night on Tuesdays where you get to keep/take home a logo’ed pint glass is pretty nifty and I had friends that attended these religiously.“

“This is, hands down, my favorite spot for brunch in the country but I have had a lot of experience here and less elsewhere. A pint of a spicy Bloody Mary and a deluxe eggs benedict with ham and fried green tomatoes warms my soul. But on to the beer: The selection is noteworthy only because they only serve NC beer on tap. So if you wanted to have a nice meal (they serve dinner as well) and try a few NC beers, this would be a great spot. And then you could head up the road to either Tylers or Milltown and try a bunch more beers as both have superior selections.“

“Cool new restaurant in Carrboro. Venable is actually the original name of Carrboro before Mr. Carr came to town. And the restaurant is housed in Carr Mill Mall which adds to its historical accents. Nice, rustic feel inside, lots of old Carrboro (or Venable) photos adorn the walls, open kitchen, nice looking bar. Food is a little above average, only 4 taps but some pretty good things pouring, and about 15 or so bottles. Solid place, Ill be back. But for beer it’s only so-so but they did give me a new rate with some local schwill!“

“Okay, so this isn’t a beer store at all. It’s a grocery store. And the beer selection is pretty shitty, as GT mentions. If it’s too late to hit up a good store in the area, then this is good backup as its open 24 hours. I feel like they might stop selling beer and wine at 2am though. They have SNPA!“

“Honestly, this is the best place in Chapel Hill/Carrboro to pick up macro beer for parties: ultra cheap cases of Busch Light and they sell a lot of kegs for parties. However, they do stock a decent amount of craft beer but not as much as the surrounding stores like Weaver St Market, Carrboro Beverage/Tyler’s, or even the Whole Foods across town. Around the small wine selection there is a hidden fridge of sorts that has singles of weird German beers and the like. Maybe you’ll find something interesting, but I cannot recommend this except for stocking up on party macro beer.“

“Weaver Street Market is a very small Whole Foods clone complete with sushi and hot bar. The high point of this place and being able to get great food from the hot bar or salad bar and grab a craft beer from the fridges, and you are actually allowed to crack it and drink it outside on the picnic tables or even on the grass lawn out front. In terms of beer selection, it is usually a subset of what you can find across the street at Carrboro Beverage Co. / Tyler’s Beer Shop. You can bring beer from this store across the street with you while you eat at Weaver Street. The most interesting stuff you can find here are NC locals like Carolina Brewery, Duck-Rabbit, Highland. No Foothills. Nothing really too exciting. Weaver St Market also runs a restaurant attached called Panzanella, which is open for dinner but has ridiculous opening hours for lunch: noon-2 only. They should probably be added to the database since they have a good tap and bottle list and host beer dinners: http://www.panzanella.coop/events/beer-dinners/“

“Been popping in here occasionally for the last 2-3 years and have always found plenty to savor, in terms of selection, service, and ambience. Tiny shop manages to have a very good selection overall, with a decent Belgian line and good range of U.S. micros (not to mention locals). Service is always a treat, with Jason and others very knowledgeable and helpful. And ever since they’ve put in a few taps, things are even better.“

“Pretty standard grocery store selection with a bit more of a catering to craft since its in a college town. You can get some Bells and Founders I believe along with a few other micros and then the faux micro stuff like Widmer and Pyramid.“

“Stop in here pretty frequently and pick up a thing or two. They usually have one or two things I haven’t had and usually get whats new. They have more English stuff and German Lagers than most places do and a good singles selection. Plus the ability to try a thing or two on tap is pretty sweet.“

“Beautiful beer store in downtown Carrboro. It’s well-lit and well organized. They normally have a beer or two on tap you can drink while you shop. Excellent Belgian selection, TONS of craft bottles. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. It’s not cheap, but not overly expensive for craft beer. Good selection of beer t-shirts, glasses, and other goodies. After Sam’s, this is the best place I’ve seen in the Triangle.“

“Great, down-to-earth place; features beers on tap and free tastings every Thursday (can’t say enough good things about the tastings). Wide variety of beers, and friendly, knowledgeable staff (on re-rate: super friendly now that we are regulars!). Regularly updated staff picks can point you in the right direction if you’re looking to try something new. Prices are great when comparison shopping for beers of the same quality, and they have regular sales that can keep the beer flowing without breaking the bank. As a bonus, there is plenty of parking thanks to a public lot across the street behind the store. Best place in the area, hands down.“

“The first true bottle shop in the CH area. Selection is pretty good, a little expensive, and sometimes you can even get some beers on tap. There is a glassware shelf, but why buy any when you get to keep the glasses on pint nights at Tylers next door? Those working have a fair knowledge about beer but in no way super impressive.“

“A good shop in the heart of downtown Carrboro, adjacent to Tyler’s restaurant and taproom. Small space with a lot of brew mainly specializing in American craft beer, but also has some Belgians, Germans, and other worldly beers. Pretty decent selection of sodas, glassware, t-shirts, hats, etc. As Jamie mentioned, they also have a few taps in store where you can try some select kegs. Terrapin Substance Abuse is there right now which was a little surprising given its perceived rarity. A nice place and its across the street from my house. He shoots, he scores!“

“Been to the original location a bunch of times over the years, and it always manages to deliver the goods in terms of quality tap selections. Food is usually better than average pub fare, and - even if it’s not a food destination - it’ll satisfy. But it’s the range of taps one visits for, with an extensive selection of US craft, locals, and a decent range of imports. With the other branches in the area, this one now seems on the small side but it’s still a goodern.“

“A good place to go and get a good beer and be able to play a game of pool or smoke a cigarette. The option of being able to run over to Tyler’s and grab whatever you like there is pretty convenient. Nice setup with the couches and a neat view of main street.“

“A small, well-run shop that focuses pretty much exclusively on micros and better imports. They have a couple of taps that allow you to drink good stuff while you shop. The guy working seemed to know his stuff about the selection and was very friendly. The prices are steep but so is everything else in that town. Very small but packed with good quality stuff.“

“Nice location. Has a good selection compared to most other bars. Tends to be kind of repetitive and keeps a pretty steady basic menu. The rotationals are nice but not as good as the Durham location, although we do get a few nice ones. Food is alright.“

“Basically a local Whole Foods. They have a pretty good selection of craft beer and some singles. This is one of the places in Chapel Hill you can go and maybe find one or two things not available elsewhere. They carry most of the bigger brands and a few ciders and such. They cover your basic craft beer needs. The outside is nice and you can go in , buy a beer or two, and crack it on the lawn.“

“This isn’t really a beer store but they have a pretty good selection and I buy beer here sometimes so I felt it should be added. Some good local micros, quite a few belgians, sammy smiths, and the ususal top craft brands such as dfh, avery, and great divide. My only complaint is their high markup on single beers.“

“An Institution for the NC beer scene. Much smaller than the Durham location. When you come in from the Main St side, as you can also from the Speakeasy, the bar is on the left and the restaurant on the right. The bar is J shaped with wood and copper top a fancy wood & mirror hutch type thing behind the bar that holds the glasses and some other things. A small couch area beyond the bar. Good Pub grub, nightly special are usually good. Garlic fries can be really garlicy, but I’ve had some dud batches too. 3 TV’s in bar area. Solid tap selection that usually has a couple local selections. They try to do the proper glassware. Families come here on a regular basis, bit of a hippy clientele, students and beer geeks. Gets loud at peak times and you will have to wait.“

“This was a very nice establishment with a dive bar atmosphere including full size pool tables and smoky old couches. The draft selection was excellent for the type of atmosphere. I wish that there were more beer bars like this where you can skip the pretentiousness and play a game of pool while sipping on a DFH or other micro. When it gets too smoky or crowded, you can just walk a few steps into Tyler’s and relax on some leather couches... very nice.“

“Could be known as Tyler’s younger, immature brother. Connected to Tylers by a swinging door when both are open, this bar has many of the same bottles available at Tylers with about as many taps (but thankfully, they are different selections). The selection is usually pretty damn good. I might even say that it is better than Tyler’s sometimes. Missing the proper glassware, but def have some great brews. 90 min IPA usually a staple. Had a Brasserie des Rocs Grand Cru on tap there for 5 bucks. Has three pool tables and foosball in the front room where the bar is, and comfortable couches and chairs in a room in the back. Very chill atmosphere, but a bit too smokey for me at times.“

“Been here several times but always during the day when the place was dead. Great selection of typical bar fare. About 12 different taps. A couple belgian (maredsous, chimay white) and multiple domestic craft brew taps. I had a rogue imperial porter last time. Have these events on Tuesdays known as "Pint Nights" where you get to keep the matching glass of whatever the nights special pint is. Have yet to make it to one, but always love collecting some new glassware. If I move to Carrboro, I can imagine spending a lot of time here and Milltown up the street.“

“Smaller than the Durham version but with a bigger food menu. Tap selection isn’t huge but it’s all quality. Non-smoking. More of a dinner and a beer type of bar than a hang out and get drunk bar. Definitely worth a trip if you’re in the area. Bartenders seem to be knowledgable. Last time I went they basically had one generic chalice type glass for Belgian stuff but everything else was served in a proper glass.“

“Very cool bar just across the city line from Chapel Hill. Smaller than their pub in Durham. Food is beter than the Durham location, but beer selction is a bit smaller (30ish taps). I had a French Broad Brewing Oktoberfest, an Avery Hog Heaven Barleywine, and a Chimay Blanche all on tap and in their own glassware. Service was decent. Defintiely worth a vist.“

“Great bar in Carborro, NC. The food is great (garlic fries....yum) and the draught beer selection is great (no BMC and always has 60 minute). My only complaint is the size, usually the bar is very packed and people are standing everywhere and it proves hard for you to get to the bathroom or for the wait-staff to get by etc.“
