“The store is in a remodeled older building in downtown New Bern. It’s an attractive looking place, but if it’s even modestly busy, the noise level is quite high, making conversation around your table a little difficult. Beer selection is not outstanding, but decent. Food is good, but it’s priced too high for what it is. Service is very good, and the people are friendly.“

“I don’t know how long this place has been open in this location, but it is not the Beer Army Outpost location. This is a real restaurant/pub with some really good bar food, and a decent tap list and plenty of bottled options. The Bison Burger I had was a bit small is the only complaint I had. Other than that it was tasty, as were the Beer BBQ wings. Staff was real friendly and right on top of things. I didn’t have a lot of time in New Bern to check many other places out, but I believe this is the best beer thing around.“

Thirsty Bruin (Beer Store)
224 MIDDLE ST
“New establishment, sorta a hole in the wall, but classy set up. Had about 8 taps, craft beers that were all readily accessible for the most part. Small bar with stools, other side had some bottles on shelves. Surprised to see some Wicked Weed bombers and some Mystery beers as well. Cooler on premises with some beer and food products. Staff seemed friendly enough, talked about NoDa and Birdsong and they beer scene in Charlotte. Overall ok place.“

Harris Teeter - New Bern (Grocery Store)
2019 S GLENBURNIE RD
“For those that don’t know, Harris Teeter is a grocery store chain. This particular store has one of the better selections in an area that doesn’t have much from which to choose. They stock all the macro brew stuff, but the other side of the isle has some nice offerings mixed in with the average imports. I’ve seen Dead Guy, Duvel, and numerous other singles. They also carry some eastern North Carolina offerings like DuckRabbit and Mother Earth. Service isn’t that good; it’s typical grocery store help yourself. Almost everything is in coolers, which for me is a negative. I prefer to buy at room temp and chill it to the temp I want. Overall for the area, not bad.“
